Chasing After My Wife Chapter 89

"Hey! Introduce me formally to your wife." Cheska stated which brought their attention back to her. She was holding a paper bag which she placed on the table not far from Jillyanna's bed.
"I thought you knew each other. I don't need to introduce you. Go away." Travis responded to her while waving his hand to the direction of the door.
"Why are you so rude?" Cheska glared at him and walked towards Jillyanna instead. "Hi. I'm Cheska Suarez. I was the doctor who checked you last time and I am Travis' friend."
Jillyanna looked at her without saying anything then shifted her eyes to Travis, still in silence. After looking at them, she got under the blanket and refused to see them.
'What the fudge! It's because of her that I wasn't able to escape! Did she expect me to become friendly with her? I can't face her right now. I really want to punch her or slap her. I might not be able to control myself! I hate her!' she cursed mentally as she curled herself into a ball under the blanket.
"Jill, come out. You'll suffocate yourself. What's wrong?" Travis tried getting the blanket from her but she held it tightly.
"If you forcefully remove this, my nails will be damaged!" her voice was muffled but Travis could hear it clearly which made him smile.
"I take it that you don't like this doctor?" he asked but Jillyanna didn't respond. "Silence means yes. I'll throw her out now."
Cheska was surprised to see such interaction between them and she wasn't able to react when Travis pushed her out of the room again.
"Why do you guys hate me so much? I was just being nice." Cheska pouted and sulked outside with her arms crossed on her chest.

Travis sighed with a helpless expression. "She must have figured out the reason why I knew about her pregnancy. That's why I kept pushing you out."
"But it would be better that she knew the truth earlier. Besides, I didn't mean to spoil her plans!" Cheska explained sadly. She really wanted to see Travis happy but it looked like she ruined it. "Another thing, you better tell her about us in the business world. I don't want her to hate me even more."
While they were talking outside, Jillyanna removed the blanket from her and heard what they were talking about. 'It's not my fault that this place isn't soundproofed.' she commented but still listened to them.
"Who cares if they're friends? She ruined everything the moment she told him of my pregnancy. How did she know that it was Travis though? It shouldn't reflect on my blood, right?" she murmured to herself while thinking. 'It's impossible. There's something missing.' she added mentally.
She was so focused on her thought that she had forgotten about them and she didn't notice that Travis was back, sitting on the chair beside her bed.
"What are you thinking?" he asked while snapping his fingers in front of her, bringing her back to the present.
"How did you know about my pregnancy?" she questioned him. Her eyes were clear and there was encouragement reflecting in it - encouragement to tell her the truth.
Travis sighed before reaching for her hand and hold it in his. "Don't blame them, okay. They didn't know that we were just starting a relationship."
'We are not starting a relationship!' she wanted to tell him this but she didn't want to interrupt him.
Travis continued speaking. "In the business world, she's known as my 'fiance'. Many people believed in that and many people knew that it's part of a plan to bust someone. I wanted to tell you this in advance."

"I don't really care if you have a girlfriend or a fiance. It doesn't matter to me." Jillyanna finally interrupted him because she was annoyed and upset that there were people who believed Cheska to be his fiance.
"It matters to me." Travis responded to her while kissing the back of her hand.
"Whatever. Continue."
Travis raised her hand and placed it on his face. "Cheska is Diego's girlfriend. Her mother knew but her stepfather does not. Diego was the one who found out about your pregnancy and the one who told me about it."
"Oh? So Diego was the one who ruined my plan? That idiot!" she pulled her hand away and glared at him. "I hate your friend."
"Don't hate them, okay? They only thought of my sake and they didn't know about your plan." Travis spoke to her softly like he was coaxing a child to make up with her friend.
Jillyanna just crossed her hands on her chest with a stern expression. Maybe she won't hate them but that would only happen if she gets amnesia - forgetting about her ruined escape plans.
"Are you still thinking of leaving me?" Travis inquired when she had gone silent again.
"Of course."
"Why?"
"Why, you say? Let me ask you this. I guess it's something that should be cleared between us. What are you going to use me for?" There's no way to escape this issue so she might as well clear out everything between them before she leaves him.
Travis frowned and confused as to what she was talking about. "What use? I'm not using you for anything. Oh, I can use you as my brilliant wife to ward off other women from approaching me."
"I am serious here. One more lie and I won't believe you anymore." she warned him that made him stare at her in silence.
"I don't understand what you are talking about. What exactly are you asking me?"
"I'm asking you. Why did you continue to approach me even after I said NO? Why did you send me gifts? What are you planning to use me? Don't you dare lie to me cause I heard you say it yourself."
"I told you I love you. I have never been interested in anyone except the past YOU, the present YOU and the future YOU."
"Did you really think I'd marry her? I just need her for something, okay? You don't have to be so worried." she responded using the same words that he used that day. "Who else are you referring to? Unless, there's another woman involved."
These statements shut him up from saying anything. He didn't know if he should be happy while watching her frustrated expression or should he feel bad that she knew his secret before he could confess to her.

Of Men and Dragons, Book 1
Book 1 is now available on Kindle, or in paperback/hardcover! You can buy it here! Jack crash-landed on a planet where the natives are seven-foot-tall carnivorous cat-lizards currently somewhere between stone and bronze age. The good news is the natives think the ship that crashed into their mountain is a dragon and are steering clear of it. The bad news is they just left one of their own as a sacrifice to appease the beast. No matter what Jack and his AI co-pilot decide, his life just got a lot more complicated... ATTENTION: This is soft sci-fi rather than hard sci-fi, hence why I chose that tag. For those of you unfamiliar with the distinction, here's what Wikipedia had to say. 1. It explores the "soft" sciences, and especially the social sciences (for example, anthropology, sociology, or psychology), rather than engineering or the "hard" sciences (for example, physics, astronomy, or chemistry). 2. It is not scientifically accurate or plausible; the opposite of hard science fiction. Soft science fiction of either type is often more concerned with character and speculative societies, rather than speculative science or engineering. The term first appeared in the late 1970s and is attributed to Australian literary scholar Peter Nicholls.
