Li Xingchen followed Li Qingcang to the A&E department. The moment Li Qingcang walked through the doors of the A&E department, he noticed Ye Tianxin, who was holding her grandmother’s hands and weeping.

Hazy memories from the night of his injury suddenly floated into his mind. He remembered the young girl at the rural clinic who pleaded with the doctor, saying in a sweet voice, “Be gentle. I can’t handle pain!”

And yet, she gave him 600 milliliters of her own blood without batting an eye.

“Ye Tianxin….”

Hearing her name, Ye Tianxin answered reflexively, “Yes, I’m here.”

Ye Tianxin looked at Li Qingcang. He was about 1.83 to 1.85 meters tall, short-haired, and looked to be very energetic.

He was clad in Capital First Hospital’s standard-issue patient’s garb, but the blue and white striped uniform seemed a tad too short for him, because it exposed most of his calves.

Nonetheless, even the ordinariness of his patient’s uniform could do nothing to conceal the majestic aura that emanated from him.

“Are you Yan Ge’s friend? Excuse me, but I didn’t know you were a patient here. I was really at my wits’ end and couldn’t find anyone to help me out. Can I please trouble you to stay here and keep an eye on my grandmother while I head out with this beautiful sister to get the money…?”

Sizing up the situation, Li Xingchen quietly stepped behind Li Qingcang.

Li Qingcang felt like kicking himself. That Yan Ge should’ve told him. If he’d known in advance that the person who called him was the person who had saved his life, then he would’ve tried to clean himself up a bit before meeting her!

But now, in his hospital garb, how would he be able to show off his heroism? Elegance? Good looks? Nobleness?

“About the money. I’ll pay for your grandmother to be admitted, and you can pay me back later. Your grandmother collapsed and is still unconscious. You must not leave her side! Patients are especially sensitive. If your grandmother comes around and doesn’t see you the moment she opens her eyes, she’ll definitely think that you’ve deserted her….”

Ye Tianxin considered what Li Qingcang said and decided that he was right.

“Then I will write you an IOU.”

Li Qingcang declined her offer. What kind of person did she think he was?

“There’s no need to write an IOU. I trust you.”

However, Ye Tianxin was adamant and insisted, “I most certainly will write you an IOU.”

With Li Qingcang’s help, Grandma was quickly admitted into the hospital.

While the doctor was processing Grandma’s admission, Li Qingcang was dragged outside by Li Xingchen, who thought he had designs on Ye Tianxin and wanted to tell him off for his beastly behavior.

“Qingcang, that girl is really young. How could you….”

Li Qingcang replied tersely, “Sis, what rubbish are you spouting now? That young girl saved my life. If she hadn’t donated blood to me when I was critically injured, I wouldn’t have been able to hang on long enough to be transported to the hospital in the city.”

“Really?” Li Xingchen didn’t believe him.

Grunting indignantly, Li Qingcang asked, “Sis, I’m your brother. Do I look like a monster to you?”

“There is some resemblance!” Li Xingchen replied and was almost throttled to death by Li Qingcang. “Then again, if that young girl is the benefactor who saved your life, then we should definitely help her.”

“But of course! Repay kindness with kindness. That’s one of the traditional core values of the Li family.”

That said, Li Qingcang placed his hand on Li Xingchen’s shoulder.

“Sis, can I trouble you to get this young girl some daily necessities, please?”

“Got it. Now scram and go back to your room. I’ll take over from here!”

Li Qingcang glanced at Ye Tianxin, who was in the ward. With a hint of regret in his voice, he muttered, “I should’ve gotten Grandma a single occupancy room. This type of ward is shared by three people, and with people coming and going all the time, she won’t be able to get proper rest….”
