Du Juan was also puzzled. Logically speaking, Grandma was neither familiar with Capital City, nor was she acquainted with anyone who lived there, so she couldn’t possibly have wandered off on her own!

“Could the doctor have called for Grandma?”

Prompted by Du Juan’s question, Ye Tianxin remembered the doctor. Together with Du Juan, she headed for the doctor’s office.

The doctor told Ye Tianxin all about his visit from Lu Jijun and her grandmother.

Ye Tianxin instantly felt relieved. Earlier, when she had found her grandmother missing, she had thought for a moment that Grandma, not wishing to be a burden to her, had done something reckless.

Now, knowing that her grandmother was probably with Lu Jijun, she heaved a sigh of relief.

“Mama, it’s late. You should head home first. I will stay here and wait for Grandma.”

“I’ll wait here with you,” Du Juan replied.

As usual, Du Juan was dressed in a qipao. She seemed to have a liking for qipaos. As far as Ye Tianxin was concerned, she had never seen Du Juan in anything but a qipao. Regardless of the time of day or occasion, she was always in a qipao.

With her immaculate makeup and her qipao, which accentuated her curves, Du Juan always presented a perfect picture of elegance and calm.

Not wanting to get Du Juan involved in their complicated relationship with Lu Jijun, Ye Tianxin said, “Mama, that won’t be necessary. He’s probably going to bring Grandma back soon.”

Because Ye Tianxin was so insistent, Du Juan decided to leave. Clutching her bag, she walked out of the ward.

After Du Juan left, Ye Tianxin walked over to the window and stared out into the dark night, feeling flustered.

Her grandmother had found out about how serious her illness really was…

Ye Tianxin sat by the bed and started working on her practice questions, her pencil making scratching sounds as she wrote down her answers. Ye Tianxin resolved to visit the bookshop one day to search for more exam practice workbooks. She needed a lot more practice.

It was now past midnight and there was still no sign of Grandma.

By this point, Ye Tianxin had grown increasingly nervous and fidgety!

What on earth were Grandma and Lu Jijun discussing?

Did that Lu Jijun even realize that her grandmother was a patient?

Ye Tianxin stood at the elevator lobby. When she saw the elevator light flash when the elevator arrived at her floor, she rushed to the elevator doors. “Grandma…” she started to say.

The elevator doors opened, and standing inside wasn’t her grandmother but Li Qingcang. He was wearing a white shirt, and his hair was a tad messy, and there was a bag of takeout in his hands.

“Tianxin, what are you doing in the elevator lobby at this late hour?”

Ye Tianxin’s eyes turned slightly red as she replied, “I’m waiting for my grandmother. I went back to our temporary accommodations for a brief visit, and when I came back here, Grandma was nowhere to be found! I’m a little worried about her!”

“Why didn’t you tell me as soon as you realized that your grandmother was missing?”

Li Qingcang immediately grabbed Ye Tianxin’s wrist and pulled her into the elevator.
