Ye Tianxin eased Li Qingcang’s concern with a sweet smile. “I’m going to play a role in this movie only. Besides, it’s Mother Du Juan’s movie. I’m sure no one will bully me. I’m just worried that…”

“What are you worried about?”

“The college entrance exams.” Ye Tianxin waved the pages of practice questions that she had to prepare for. “I’m worried about the results of the college entrance exams. I am worried that I might not be able to make it into Capital University when the time comes.”

The question papers were bound as a book. Li Qingcang took the book from Ye Tianxin and flipped through the pages. He randomly chose a page and pointed to a question.

“You got the answer to this question wrong.”

Ye Tianxin had another look at the question. Ye Tianxin routinely tries to solve the problem first before counter-checking the answer at the back of the book. She had answered that particular question while waiting for her grandmother to come home. She hadn’t yet had time to check the answer.

Li Qingcang saw the blank look on Ye Tianxin’s face. It was quite clear Ye Tianxin was oblivious to her mistake.

Li Qingcang took out a piece of paper, wrote down the question, and went through it with Ye Tianxin.

“Do you see that the answers are entirely different?”

Ye Tianxin was star-struck. Her eyes gave away her admiration.

“Brother Li, you’re so amazing. You just glanced at it, and you could see that I had made a mistake.”

Li Qingcang was secretly pleased with himself.

He remained cavalier even as his eyelashes kept blinking. “I graduated from Capital University with a Ph.D. in Physics.”

“You have got to be kidding me, right?”

What Li Qingcang revealed to Ye Tianxin shocked her to the core. The views and values that she had attached to the world and life were not as she had imagined. Capital University, Physics department, Ph.D. The three titles mesmerized Ye Tianxin.

“But aren’t you…?”

Li Qingcang’s eyes twinkled in delight.

“Since my childhood days, I had always dreamt of going on a space flight. But, because of my unique blood type, my family never allowed me to go on such a dangerous journey. After I graduated, I stayed back at Capital University and became a people’s teacher. I had hoped to nurture more outstanding students in the future. I wanted to contribute what little I can to help our aerospace industry.”

“Brother Li, you are truly awesome!”

“Well, if there’s anything you don’t understand, you can ask me. It’s getting late. I’ll head home and get some rest. You should rest early too.”

Ye Tianxin nodded her head. After learning that Li Qingcang was a teacher and was once a top student, Ye Tianxin began to see him as an idol. The Physics department indeed. Only a person with an extraordinary IQ could make it into that department.

Yue Tianxin walked Li Qingcang to the elevator. He held up the book containing the practice questions in his hand.

“I will take this back and correct it for you. I will tell you more about it in detail when the time comes.”

The night breeze was slightly chilly.

Ye Tianxin returned to the ward alone. Despite the chilly breeze, she felt warm inside.

Ye Tianxin made a resolution. She did not wish to be involved with Lu Qingxin at all costs in this lifetime.

The Lu family.

The Gu family.

She didn’t want to have anything to do with them anymore. Not even the slightest.

At dawn the next day, when the first ray of daylight emerged as the sun shone through the clouds, a nurse came to draw her grandmother’s blood for a test.

The hospital canteen had prepared a delicious and nutritious breakfast for Ye Tianxin and her grandmother.

Grandmother and granddaughter were having their breakfast when Lu Qingxin and Gu Yancheng came to see them.

Lu Qingxin was clutching a bouquet in her arms.

Gu Yancheng carried some fruits in his hands.

The two of them wore clothes of matching color. They were a picture of a young, lovely couple.

“Grandmother, Tianxin.”

Tianxin put down the chopsticks and bowl. She glared at Lu Qingxin and Gu Yancheng. “What are the two of you doing here?” she asked coldly.

“Last night, when Dad came home, he said your grandmother was in the hospital. I came to see her with Brother Yancheng.” Lu Qingxin placed the flowers on the cabinet beside the headboard of the bed. “Grandmother, I hope you will recover soon.”

Gu Yancheng handed the fruits to Ye Tianxin. “This is just a little gift to express our concern. Just accept it.”

“No need. Miss Lu, Mr. Gu, please take your things back with you. Your kindness is well-received. Grandmother and I appreciate it.”

Ye Tianxin did not hide what she thought of the gesture.

Lu Qingxin, her eyes slightly red, asked, “Sister, you hate Father, don’t you?”
