“Well, there’s no need for that.”

Ye Tianxin thought about it. After all, they were in a little town. They probably wouldn’t have to do much.

“I’ve already hired my grandmother a carer. If I get a bodyguard, I will definitely hear from others. Gossip spreads like wildfire in our little town.”

Jing Zhichen did not agree immediately. Instead, he told Ye Tianxin, “Tianxin, you are about to participate in the college entrance exam. You can’t possibly cook every day, can you? Even though the food from the restaurant is decent, it would not be as nutritious as the food you cook at home. I think I should get you an assistant, so you two can get to know each other. If you think she’s unsuitable, we can hire another one. Otherwise, many things will be delayed if the two of you only try to get to know each other when you join the filming set.”

Ye Tianxin looked at Jing Zhichen with bright eyes.

“CEO Jing, I’m grateful for the offer. You’re too good to me. But this is a little odd… You’re not trying to get something from me, are you?”

Jing Zhichen was surprised by what Ye Tianxin had said. His brows furrowed.

He stood still and coughed forcibly.

‘What does she mean by ‘trying to get something from her’?’ Jing Zhichen thought.

She was his Li Qingcang’s savior. If he were to try to do anything to her, Li Qingcang would kill him.

“Tianxin, even though I’m from the entertainment industry, I don’t condone indecent practices,” he declared firmly.

If Ye Tianxin could only see through Jing Zhichen’s mind and heart, she would see that he had the purest intentions. He had nothing to do with those indecent practices.

“I’m sorry, I have doubted you,” Ye Tianxin apologized.

Jing Zhichen was upset. Ye Tianxin felt bad that she doubted and assumed things about him.

Outside Jiameng High School…

Jing Zhichen looked at the school gates. They were quite run-down and looked really old.

When they entered the campus, he realized that the buildings badly needed repair. Some rooms even have wooden windows.

Green tendrils climbed the red brick walls. Yet, the school gave off a sense of familiarity.

The first thing Ye Tianxin had to do upon returning to school was naturally to report to the teacher in charge of her class.

“Mr. Chen, I’ve just returned from the capital.”

Ye Tianxin had called Mr. Chen about her grandmother’s surgery when she was in the capital.

“This is…,” Ye Tianxin began, looking at Jing Zhichen, “this is my cousin. He works in the capital.”

“Nice to meet you, Mr. Chen. Thank you for your patience and understanding. She took a leave of absence, so she was a little behind on her work. Please take care of her.”

Mr. Chen glanced at Jing Zhichen. Jing Zhichen was wearing a suit, and he looked handsome. Mr. Chen suddenly suspected the relationship between Ye Tianxin and Jing Zhichen. However, he was a teacher and could not ask such sensitive and personal questions in front of his student. It just wouldn’t do.

“Head off to class then, Tianxin,” Mr. Chen said with a smile.

Ye Tianxin glanced at Jing Zhichen, and he nodded.

Then, she carried her bag to the classroom. It was the same classroom where she studied before she left. She noticed the numbers on the blackboard. They indicated the number of days to the college entrance exam.

She sat down beside Di Shanshi and handed him a lucky charm she had bought from the imperial palace in the capital.

“Di Shanshi, this is for you.”

Li Xiaohui turned around and stretched out her hand, and chimed in, “What about me?”

“There’s one for you, too.”

Li Xiaohui was not just the only one to receive a gift. Ye Tianxin had bought something for the entire class. They were just little trinkets and did not cost much. It was just a kind gesture.

“Oh, right. Tianxin, the mock exam is tomorrow. Are you confident about it?”
