The Legend of Min Hong Chapter 301

"Then spit it out!"
The Sect Leader was already getting impatient with the way the conversation was preventing him from thinking about more important matters;
"Y-yes Sect Leader… He also said he would be challenging the 'War God Trials' of the inner court in seven days…"
"He is looking to become a core court disciple in a week's time…"
"What!?"
The hearts of Fifth and the Sect Leader trembled and a strong shocking wave rippled through their hearts when they heard that statement…
"Are you lying to me!?"
The Sect Leader turned aggressive, trying to figure out if this elder was messing with him, and even though he knew that was impossible, it was like he wanted to use that aggression to confirm his current train of thought…
"No wonder he has yet to leave..."
"It would be suspicious and insulting for him to attend the 'War God Trial' of an outer court disciple looking to enter the inner court…"
"But for as inner court disciple into the core court, that would be a lot more apprehensive…" Fifth analyzed what was already in the Sect Leader's mind, confirming his suspicions…
Min Hong's group on the other hand were just heading back to his apartment in their normal structural pattern, and the closer they got to his house, the more additional figures joined them which only served to even shock the Dai He trio that Min Hong's group was even larger than they had originally expected…
The moment they entered and Min Rou saw the amount of people that came in today, she immediately got to work…
"We need a bigger house…" Min Qing leaned on Min Hong's shoulder as she spoke…
Taking a look at everyone that was here, Min Hong realized that it was getting cramped already and they are yet to even begin recruiting the core members of their group…
"I, Long Sha, Kun Chao would each our own individual courtyard in the inner sect which is at least thrice as huge as this place, and the same thing goes for you and Kun Lin…" Min Hong responded as Long Sha imputed;

"We can live in each inner sect courtyard at three people per courtyard and still live comfortably…"
"We shouldn't be bothered with space or apartments at all…" Mu Li interrupted…
"What do you mean?" Kun Chao asked;
"Well, it takes only 15,000 merit points to become an inner court disciple, and currently we have more than enough merit points to send as much people over as we need and still have enough left to spare…" Mu Li explained…
"For Kun Lin and Kun Chao's trial, the odds were 800:1, thus I placed 10,000 merit points on his battle and 5,000 spirit stones, which means we earned 8 million merit points and 4 million Mid-grade spirit stones each…"
"What!?"
"That much!?"
"…!"Kun Chao and Kun Lin blurted whilst the rest of the room were stunned speechless…
"When it was Fei Long and Fei Qing's turn, the odds had decreased drastically to a 100:1 ratio, so I had to place 20,000 merit points and 10,000 Mid-grade spirit stones, and return we had; 2 million merit points and 1 million mid-grade spirit stones…"
This time around none of them said anything and were just waiting for Mu Li to say the total before they gave the appropriate reaction…
"Then for Fei Hong's trial, the odds were only in a 5:1 ratio…"
"Hmm?"
"How come?"
"Well I also don't know, but I remember seeing the Fourth Grand Elder's personal disciple coming out of the Treasure Hall at the time the odds were being calculated…"
"Perhaps, he had given them some information that made the Treasure hall very wary about you…" Mu Li answered the Kun siblings questions;
"Thus, I had no choice but to go all in and place the rest of our capital on it…"
"Why didn't you place everything including the winnings from the first four bets?"
The moment Min Hong asked this question, every single being in the apartment were stunned speechless, but the gaze at which they looked at Min Hong screamed;

"Too Greedy!" But Mu Li had no choice but to respond;
"Well, apart from the fact that the Sect might be unable to pay our winnings, such a move won't be subtle and should we attract the Treasure Halls attention, we might be banned from betting again…"
"Anyways our total turnover wasn't too bad also…"
Mu Li brought out 100 different storage rings as he passed them over to Min Qing who was their treasurer;
"We now have a total wealth of over; 20 million merit points and 10 million mid-grade spirit stones…" Mu Li grinned from ear to ear;
"How much do we have left over?" Min Hong asked…
"200,000 merit points and 100,000 mid-grad spirit stones…" Mu Li answered;
"Alright, split the extras amongst everyone who was involved in the trials equally… minus me…"
"Eh?" Everyone was stunned when they heard Min Hong exclude himself from the rewards…
"So, 50,000 merit points and 25,000 mid-grade spirit stones goes to the Kun Siblings, Fei Long and Fei Qing, each…" Min Hong finalised that part of the issue…
"20 percent of all our rewards will be given to your network as I have promised…" Min Hong added;
"That amounts to; 4 million merit points and 2 million mid-grade spirit stones!"
"If we convert the merit points to mid-grade spirit stones at 2:1 we will still have 4 million mid-grade spirit stones!"
"Wow, that is more than my entire clan makes in a year…" Mu Bai for the first time had an astonished expression…
"Of the remaining 16 million merit points and 8 million spirit stones, we will leave 5 million merit points and spirit stones each in out treasury and we will gather the rest for another bout of betting…"
Min Hong relaxed into the comfort of his sofa as he caressed Min Qing's hair who was now laying her head on his laps…
Everyone already knows they were in love, so there is no point in hiding it any further…
"Erm, who are we betting on?" Mu Li asked, just as confused as the rest of the group;
"I will be challenging the inner court 'War God Trial' in a week time…" Min Hong spoke like it was not anything serious, and truly it wasn't…
Because if you check his full battle power of the 1 Star Saint stage compared to the rest of the inner court disciple who usually have a power of 6 Star Nascent Soul stage total battle power…
But to the rest of the group who didn't know about his total battle power were scared till the extent that, they thought they had heard the most outrageous thing that someone can ever do…
"But we have yet to enter the inner court at all…" Qing Tan blurted in concern;
"I have made arrangements to that already…"
"We will be entering the inner court in three days, and now that there is enough merit points to allow the rest of us to enter the inner court, we should all become inner court in the next three days…"
Min Hong spoke still as leisurely as always, and the rest didn't have much to say afterwards, after all, he was the decision maker in the group and also the leader as well as the strongest, so it was a no-brainer…
"But if we bet such huge amount of money on you, and looking at the difficulty of this trials, the odds might be at least 600:1…"
"Such an amount of win might not be payable by the sect's Treasure Hall..."
"Exactly… that is what I am looking to do…"
Min Hong said with a cunning grin, and the moment everyone saw that grin apart from the newcomers, they all sighed at how busy they would be in the coming week and how miserable the Treasure Hall would suffer…

The Laptop Hero (Portal/Isekai LitRPG)
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - April 2022 Silas got summoned to another world—by a group of kids attending magic school who seemed rather unhappy with the results of their ritual. After a brief glimpse of his summoners Silas woke in the town dump. Unable to speak the local language, a misunderstanding escalated and before long Silas wound up in a jail cell, the locals having confiscated all his worldly possessions aside from his laptop, which had formed some strange bond with him. Now he can summon his laptop at will, and he can view his Status, level up, and gain powerful skills and magic as if he were some character in a video game, which is great and everything, but all Silas really wants to do is sit in a dark room and play games on his laptop. Only, life isn't a game, and Silas needs to get his act together because everyone else is playing for keeps. Or does he? Maybe for Silas life is just one big game now, with everyone else stuck playing by his rules. Assorted Disclaimers, in no particular order: I am only posting this on RoyalRoad.com, so if you find my story elsewhere it was not posted by me. Please do let me know! While I do consider this a progression fantasy, and have tagged it as such, Silas's Status improvements will not necessarily proceed in a linear fashion. His RPG stats will have ups and downs, exploits and nerfs, periods of growth and stagnation. Such is the life of a gamer, to be held under the thumb of the all powerful devs, or in this case a certain goddess devoted to the idea of Balance. SIlas himself should learn and grow, improving and progressing in areas where he struggles, or rather, to show such is my goal. The story is told from multiple points of view. While other PoVs will come and go, Silas shall remain the only lead character. The world Silas finds himself on is not a nice place. Expect him to encounter gore and traumatizing content and bad people who do bad things for selfish (or possibly noble) reasons from time to time. Some characters will use profanity, however due to cultural differences the curse words used will differ from those used in our corner of reality, so I'm not including the profanity content warning. Silas himself isn't one for foul language. No explicit sexual content here. This novel is intended for mature readers, however, and will include mature topics, including, but not limited to, sex, violence, death, and taxes. No harem. Might be an eventual romantic interest, possibly even some competitive jealousy, yet as his story begins Silas is too overwhelmed with other concerns to consider long term plans. Musophobics might want to steer clear of this story. Same goes for turophobics. You have been warned. Keep in mind, however, if my other disclaimers didn't make this clear, I only have the faintest of outlines at the moment. This story will take me where it will. My goal with this story is to write it to the end, something of a long-term writing exercise, with the hope others might take an interest in my work and encourage me to keep at it. I've started a number of works before, even finished a few, but this is the first time I've shared any work in a public forum. My temporary cover was made by me, in GIMP using public domain images. If you can do better I'll happily accept your submission and give credit for your work here!
