The Legend of Min Hong Chapter 314

"We are here…."
She whispered carefully as they looked around and finally realized that these wolves had chased them straight into the Viper's lair…
Growl!
The wolves began to growl aggressively as they stood up and surrounded the Min Rou trio in a protective circle whilst growling in different directions…
Apparently, they have caught the scent of the Viper also, and were aggressively resisting and challenging its presence…
Zoom!
A green long blur flashed past them once more, and now that they were all alert they were able to make the shape of its jagged but sharp blade-like scales, ad all it would have needed to do was brush its body past any one off them and they would be severed halfway through their bodies, if not split in complete halves, there was also the V patterns on its body which when looked much closer at would find out that they were actual runes that depicted that it was a Magic Beast…
"Hmph! Do you think you are the only one with a serpentine bloodline!?"
Little Ming actually bellowed before she rapidly expanded to a size that was almost about 5 times the viper itself…
"Aunt Rou, you remember our battle tactics, right?"
Little Ming spoke to Min Rou who nodded her heads towards Elder Yun who added;
"And now we have six more baits…"
Elder Yun said with a solemn expression as she spread her scaled wings and it was only then that Min Rou was finally able to see the runes beneath her wings…
Instead of having her runes at an exposed part of her body, Elder Yun had hers underneath her wings, which meant that no one would ever know if she was a Magic Beast unless she spread her wings wide or speak in human tongue…
She flapped once and she was already about 50 feet of the ground and the moment she went high enough, Little Ming coiled around the rest of them,, before sending her massive tail slamming everywhere, destroying this area of the jungle and creating a clear ground that was about 100 meters in radius, giving them a clear sight of anything that enters the area…

Elder Yun surveyed from above looking for the slightest movement of any green thing that moves within a 150 meter radius of Min Rou's group's position…
But after looking around for a while, they couldn't see anything, then they began to think the viper couldn't come out because they had cleared its camouflage…
But then, just as they were about to get complacent, Min Rou activated her Medusa Purple Spirit Ring, and being the Queen of all serpents, she was able to sense the position of the Sage Viper;
"Unh!?"
Without even saying anything, Min Rou spurred a cyclone right in the middle of Little Ming, blasting everyone in the middle of Little Ming's coil, including herself about 50 meters from their current position…
Boom!
Hisss!
The ground erupted as a brown colored serpent bolted out of the ground with green venom soiling into the surroundings, melting everything within a 30 meter radius;
"I almost forgot this bastard was a Sage from merging Water and Earth Dao to form a Vine [Wood] Dao…" Little Ming cursed beneath her breath…
Currently they were within a three pronged habitat of the Viper…
To their right, about 30 meters away, was a green colored pond which enhanced the Water Dao of this Viper, and everywhere they stood on asides the pond, was earth, which meant that the Viper could as well erupt from the Jungle ground…
Then there were the green vines which were only about 150 metres away from them which the Viper could also bolt out of without alerting them in any way…
"Ugh… Now, I am getting pissed off!"
Little Ming bellowed as the viper bolted out of the green colored pond, with its fangs heading straight for Little Ming's neck; Screech! Elder Yun announced as the Viper came out of the pond…
Min Rou moved over to Little Ming's flank and slashed towards the Viper whilst Little Ming smashed her tail towards its forehead, and twisting itself like a woolen thread being knitted, the Viper managed to slither its way out of both attacks, but Min Rou's sword slash was too intricate and nimble for it to completely escape...
Thus the Viper had to sacrifice three of its scales in other to completely avoid being hit by both attacks; Scrunch! Splurt! But just as it thought it was completely free of these two deadly attacks, six claws slashed towards it digging about six inches into the body of the Viper…

"Laying your filthy hands on me?"
"You all must be tried of leaving…"
The Viper spat through gritted teeth as it smashed its tail into one of these wolves sending one of these wolves sending spinning about 200 metres out of their safe zone…
Min Rou looked over at this wolf and was instantly, displeased with the Viper who had dove back into the ground just as it sent the wolf flying…
She looked up to Elder Yun who was supposed to be on the lookout for wherever the snake was supposed to come out from, and when she realized that she wouldn't have known where the Viper was going to attack from, if she hadn't activated her Medusa Spirit Ring, Min Rou could barely control her anger as she sent a cyclone of Wind Dao hurtling towards the Viper who dove back into the earth before the wind blades could arrive;
"Damn!"
Min Rou screamed whilst looking towards Little Ming whose only response was to shrink in size and dive into the void…
Min Rou also went on full alert as one of the wolves behind her, which saw her fellow she-wolf, writhing all over the place in pain bolted off to meet her…
This wasn't its fault because it was so normal to wolves to gather around their injured ones and use their actions to emotionally lift up their pack member, so that once their mind was positive and strengthened, they would be able to heal faster…
But that line of defense being broken ensured that the she-wolf left Min Rou's rear which was now facing the pond, unguarded…
Then just as the Viper bolted out of the pond with its fang towards Min Rou, the rest of the she-wolves slashed their claws towards it…
Manoeuvring itself out of their attack range whilst spreading its fangs out wide in a bid to deliver a cocktail of toxin rich venoms towards Min Rou from behind, it suddenly sensed the space around its flank ripple…
Little Ming sent only her tail swinging furiously out of the spatial ripple at the spine of the Viper, and then being distracted from its primary target; Min Rou, the Viper twisted mid-air, trying to avoid taking the Little Ming's attack with its spine…
Thus after rotating 180 degrees, it took, the attack with its underside…
But just as it thought it had escaped a potentially devastating attack, since breaking the spine of any serpent would mean its end, the Viper then saw a rainbow colored sword approaching its head…
Instantly, it coiled its body together into a ball, but Min Rou struck out with all the strength she could muster in the blink of an eye, and as a result, her sword strike was able to blind the Viper on one eye whilst it fell back towards the earth…
Just as the Viper was approaching the ground, all of them saw its body turning brown from its natural green, and just as it was about to dive into the ground, an homing sound rang across the entire space, as a feminine voice echoed;
"Hmph! Ignoring me would surely cost you a lot!"
Slash!
Hiss!
Splurt!
Elder Yun's talons dug straight into the Viper's scale and then took the Viper up into the sky, and when they got to about 6000 meters into the air where breathing became very difficult, she released it allowing the Viper to free-fall, and then descended towards the Viper like a missile…
Being a serpent which had nothing to do with the air, the Viper was left vulnerable in air, unable to manoeuvre itself…
Elder Yun being as pissed as a short tempered Ape, approached the rotating Viper from its bling angle rotating at tandem with it, thereby avoiding detection, then just as she was about to strike, she purposely halted her rotation and allowed the Viper to look into her eyes, and just as the Viper saw her, Elder Yun plunged her talon straight into its other eye, blinding it…
Splurt!
Hiss!

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Born in an arcology, she was assigned a job in the megacorporation that raised her almost as soon as she could work. Despite the stability of her corporate life, she wanted something more. A chance to claw her way up the rigid social and financial ladder to make something of herself. A chance that wouldn’t come naturally to someone as familiar with dark alleyways and the glint of steel as she was with office work and corporate niceties.Book One is up on Kindle Unlimited as of 7/6/22 - https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B0B2X3L8H5
