Celestial Peak Chapter 169

Woosh!
The sounds of the waves crashing on the shoreline was heard. The sky was not bright. Clouds were gathering and the wind was picking up.
Wang Ling could see that a storm was brewing and as they stood on the edge of a cliff surveying the waters. Wang Ling's Devil's Pupils were put to the test as he observed the depths of the water.
He surveyed the area and after a while of searching, he finally found what he was looking for. An underwater cave was spotted beneath the waters.
"I found it, it is 300 meters below and around 500 meters away from where we stand. Xue, we'll enter right now!" Wang Ling said to Bai Xue who nodded her head in agreement.
Before diving into the water, they first ingested the Serpentine's Bane Pill and then wrapped their body with qi.
Cultivators wield power that is above theirs. They can turn rocks to dust and not eat for years. Another one of their abilities is to breathe with the help of qi.
Qi was in itself a kind of life force the world had, it was air and it was water, qi was everything and everything was qi. It might have different forms, but that only meant it could be reshaped to suit the needs of the cultivators.
Though it has limitations. Cultivators can easily apply qi into their bodies and internal organs to supplement what they lose until they run out of qi in their system.
Wang Ling and Bai Xue jumped in the cold waters of the ocean and quickly went into the seafloor to approach the underwater cave.
They entered the cave and scanned its inside, as soon as their spirit senses touched the being that dwells inside the underwater cave, Wang Ling and Bai Xue could eel the ominous aura looming around the area.
They became highly strung.
They entered the cave and swam around looking for the Serpentine Turquoise. As they entered, Wang Ling found that his senses had somewhat shrunk as he was not used to moving around in the water.

Wang Ling activated the Ocean's Lull and head deeper inside. The two went deeper and as they did, Wang Ling noticed the flow of water starting to change.
It was flowing quicker and more vigorous than before. Swimming deeper inside. Wang Ling and Bai Xue found another cave. They entered the said cave and as soon as they did, they found themselves standing on land behind them was a wall of water stopped by some invisible force. The cave they entered was also strangely lit and bright. Looking around, they found it to be caused by the moss that was growing around the cave.
"A basic formation is holding the water from entering and the cave is well lit. The Serpentine Turquoise is smarter than usual…" Wang Ling said, but as he spoke, his senses spiked as he noticed something was wrong, "Shit, Xue, we need to get out this place!"
It was then that he heard Bai Xue shout, "Wang Ling, lookout."
Wang Ling and Bai Xue hurriedly jumped to the side as a turquoise figure brush pass them. Bai Xue jumped in the opposite direction of Wang Ling, they were now separated by a wall of turquoise-colored scales.
The body of what seemed to belong to a snake stopped moving and Wang Ling found his height the same height as the wall in front of him. He looked towards his right and saw the body of the serpent to be longer than the path they were walking on.
The snake was bigger and faster than he had expected. It even covered the water wall making them incapable of escaping.
[This is just the start of the problem. We need to finish this off else this is going to be troublesome, I don't want to deal with it.]
Wang Ling turned his head over and saw a wide eye as big he was looking directly at him.
The Serpentine Turquoise had already begun its assault.

"Did you really think I will not be able to sense the presence of trash finding their way inside the lair of my great self? Even a rat is nowhere to be found, what more is a bunch of trash human and a beast?"
The Serpentine Turquoise slithered around and Wang Ling who saw this smirked and brought out his sword. He slashed out and attacked the body of the serpent.
Slash!
Wang Ling's sword slashed out but the only thing his sword did was scratch the serpent's scales.
"Foolish human, do you think such measly metals can damage my wonderful scale? Die by being crushed by my body." The serpent moved to the side and attempted to crush Wang Ling.
But as he did, Wang Ling smirked once again and then circulated his qi and sword qi at the same time. Both his bloodlines were activated and his qi started circulating in harmony. His sword now carried immense might.
Wang Ling turned to the serpent's oncoming body and stood his grounds. He held the sword above his head and with a loud shout he had his sword descend diagonally and then…
"Judgment!"
SLASH!
Wang Ling's sword slashed the body of the snake and separated it from its other half. The serpent roared in pain.
But a burning white figure suddenly jumped up from the other side of the snake's body. Flame and lightning was now covering Bai Xue's body, she directed her qi into her claws and clouds started to emerge.
"Phantom Claws!" Bai Xue yelled and her claws sliced through the head of the serpent. Her qi circulated to its limits and she began slashing away at the head of the Serpentine Turquoise.
The Serpentine Turquoise was turned to minced flesh and Bai Xue did not waste any time and hurriedly started extracting the blood essence and the soul of the Serpentine Turquoise.
Bai Xue and Wang Ling was already prepared to leave, after all, they had gotten what they wanted. But as they were just about to jump into the wall of water that was behind the Serpentine Turquoise's now minced head.
Wang Ling and Bai Xue jumped, yet as they were about to touch the water. The array that was holding the water at bay suddenly broke and Wang Ling together with Bai Xue was dragged away by the raging waters.
They attempted to counter the flow of the raging waters but found themselves incapable of doing anything other than wrap themselves in qi.
Unwilling to be dragged by the raging water, Wang Ling tried to fight it but ultimately failed.
Dragged by the water current inside what used to be a cave. The pair could tell that they were going further down the oceans. They were descending at an incredibly fast rate.
Furrowing his brows, Wang Ling readied himself as he and Bai Xue found themselves exiting the cave they were just in and as they entered the third cave for today.
Wang Ling and Bai Xue found themselves in a room that was still lit up but was extremely wide and spacious. The cave they were in was submerged in water and as they float in the middle of the spacious cave area that could have a diameter of over 500 meters wide, they stared at the Serpentine Turquoise that was coiled over at rock that was as tall as 50 meters large.
The Snake was perfectly coiled around the huge rock. It was an exaggeratingly large Serpentine Turquoise, its head was already multiple times bigger than Wang Ling.
Wang Ling rolled his eyes as he thought, [This is the trouble I didn't want to deal with.]

Death, Aralt realizes, might be the greater mercy. ---------------------------------------------------------- What to Expect: Character-driven Plot Novel Pacing (which I accept isn't typical for serials) Elaborate Worldbuilding (you gotta pay attention) Soul-bonded Swords Sentient Wolves Longish Chapters What Not to Expect: Litrpg (sorry!) Harem (not sorry!) Magic System Short Chapters Dancing Bears (at least so far) Seriously, this is a second-world low fantasy/science-fantasy featuring a strong, but flawed male protagonist, a cheeky teenage boy that’s driving him crazy, a wee bit o’ Scots flavor, and a whole lot of culture clashing. I’m preparing to relaunch this story on Kindle once the second and third books are ready and I’d love some feedback as I move through those revisions. I'm serious about the feedback. All comments are welcome. I'll name a characters after you. And kill them, if you want. :) Oh, did I mention soulless assassins and cannibals? Yeah, Aralt’s day is not getting any better. cover image by brosedesignz

Oh, I also forgot to mention that I have taken inspiration from waaaay tooo many novels that I liked, and while there aren't any specific ones that I based this upon there are a few that I definitely took inspiration from like : the author's POV, chronicles of the heavenly demon [you can probably see where this inspired me ;)], etc.
