Celestial Peak Chapter 542

"Deep inside me is aware of his demise. After all, I was the one who cast him with Death in our Kingdom. He died when I abandoned him, but the thought of him living was so enticing that I believed my own delusions. I'm sorry, my Successor, I have caused you so much grief because of my persistence."
"Don't be, I know full well how you feel. After all, I already lost him once, and like you, I couldn't do anything about his end… despite being different people, I see that they possess the thought of self-sacrifice is self-righteousness, huh." Bai Xue laughed.
"Indeed, Ling-Cho was also like that."
"Ling-Cho, was that the name of the previous All-Father?" Bai Xue asked, curious about the past.
"Yes, it is. It Is one of the many but it was the name last he received when we settled down on the last world, we built so it stuck."
"I see, so that must have been why the Origin Race couldn't answer me. So, how about yours? Your children never told me anything about a name, and in the snippets of the memories I received, I failed to even recognize a word that pertains to your identity."
"My name? I… don't even remember anymore. Me and he didn't need a name and because I couldn't care for it, I, just allowed my memory of my name to go to waste." The Predecessor looked up to the bleeding skies, "Well, it doesn't really matter anymore, really. I am just going to disappear like this, a name for what does not exist is not needed."
"Your name is Chun, my love." From the still body of Wang Ling, came a voice and abruptly, he opened his eyes. Wang Ling's black and white eyes reflected the Predecessor's image.
The Predecessor, no, Chun saw those two eyes. The way his emotion was sent over to her, through his gaze alone. It was familiar, and ever so calming, "Ling?"

Her words were weak, already without substance as her essence began to escape her body. She was becoming weaker by the passing second, but, even as she did, Chun dragged herself to his side just to touch his hand.
Her decomposing body felt his touch, it was the same flesh as Wang Ling's, but it was now different. Warmer and gentler, he changed so abruptly, yet, it did not bother her. Chun just held what she had lost all these eons, "Ling… is it you? Truly?"
A question filled with hope, and, she got her answer in the form of the warmest embrace she had felt in eons, "I am sorry that I forced you to do such a thing, Chun… it's me… I'm here, the real me."
Chun was looking up at the sky as her hands touched his back.
Her lips were trembling as her claws dug into his flesh. Tears of blood fell from her eyes. When her tears wet the ground, life blossomed, the ravaged mountaintop grew ever greener becoming more vibrant that it had ever been.
The red hair Chun bear, her red eyes, and crimson aura, all of it suddenly began to subside. The crimson light slowly disappeared, returning to what it should have been, to the white light of life that the All-Mother bears.
The rampaging obsession now quenched with a touch; she no longer harbored any ill-intent.
Bai Xue watching from the side felt conflicted. She could clearly see that Wang Ling's body had been taken over, but, she couldn't bring herself to do anything because she knew that the one inside Wang Ling meant no harm, 'Well, I can just kill him if he becomes a liability —which would also kill Ling…this just became a problem.'
While Bai Xue mulled over what she should do. Chun and Ling-Cho finally separated, they both looked at each other and touched foreheads, sensing each other's presence.

When they looked at each other again, Ling-Cho wiped Chun's tears away, "You look like a mess, my dear, yet you are still as beautiful, than before. Even more so than what my memory can recall."
"You jest, my form is as ugly as could be. My body is already losing its substance, its fragility already showing…" Chun argued.
Ling-Cho shook his head, "I am incapable of lying, my dear, I speak nothing but the truth."
Her body was bits and pieces, only parts of her remain, but Ling-Cho could hardly care. He does not lie, he is incapable to utter such a thing, and as such, every word he speaks of about Chun was genuine, from the deepest parts of his heart.
Chun laughed ever so gently as she bobbed her head upside down. "Why did you take so long to appear?"
"Wang Ling… I forcefully took over his body—"
And when those words were uttered, nine white fox tails threatened to skewer Ling-Cho. Bai Xue glared at him, "What did you do to Wang Ling?" her tone was filled to the brim with dread."
Ling-Cho looked at Bai Xue's glare, her worry and anxiety still clear, he smiled, "Do not worry, Wang Ling is all right. It was just that I had little time left that I was forced to do this."
"Explain." Bai Xue gave him a chance.
"My successor and I had a promise back in the Void. I asked him to tell you to return. When he awakened in this world, through your presence I slipped out of the void seeking you, due to my obsession. Finally, I saw you, and now, you are about to disappear. You can survive if you go to the Void, but with what little qi you have remaining, you won't be able to do it. Bai Xue, cannot do it because she does not know of the detail in opening a path to the void. As for Wang Ling, he cannot open the path to the Void if he is unconscious, thus, I took over his body. Bai Xue, I apologize for taking control of your husband, but, this was the only way I can save Chun." Ling Cho explained.
Bai Xue held her tail up for a few more seconds, and eventually backed away, "Fine, but, do it quickly. Also, he's not my husband… wait, he basically is, right? Marriage is a promise to the Heavens, but we are the Heaven, Hell, and Earth, so that's just a promise to the two of us and we already did that before, then… hmmm, I never really placed a title on us, so please don't assume something while in his form. We haven't talked this situation through." She began rambling on.
Ling-Cho, however, now gave her a grave look. Noticing this, Bai Xue raised a brow, "What is it?"
"I can open the Void now, and return to my final resting place with Chun. But, I have to ask you something, Bai Xue… do you know the truth about the Origin General or the one you call the Emperor of Death?"
"Other than he's your first creation, killed you, Wang Ling, and is threatening the Universe because of his warped views in obtaining peace in your name? No, I don't."
"Then… what about the War in the Celestial Spirit Realm? And his ultimate Goal?"
Bai Xue raised her brows, "No… I couldn't inherit most of Chun's memories so, I don't really know much other than what you left in the Celestial Spirit World."
"I see, then, you must know the truth…" Ling-Cho took a deep breath, preparing himself mentally, "The Origin General, is mine and Chun's firstborn son."

It is my first attempt to actually post something I've written online, but don't be afraid to be brutal. Improving myself is why I wanted to write this in the first place. I know the VRMMO genera is a bit over-done but hopefully it has a few good stories left to tell. Warning: This is written in the first person. Will contain brutal fight-scenes, bad pop-culture references, a ton of MMO-tropes, and possibly some light sex if the MC doesn't screw it up too badly.
