One week later, Jing city.

In the meeting room of the Tang Corporation's headquarters, Tang Fei sat at the head of the table with Tang Wei Sheng, while others took the seats on both sides.

The meeting included the wealthy and powerful people in the Jing city, in another word, the people who share the Wei bloodline.

Among the men who present there, some of them had a puzzled look on their faces whereas others had a gratified expression as they already know the reason for the meeting.

"The reason why I summoned you to this meeting is to inform you that we have finally found the ruins of Yu kingdom." Tang Fei informed.

Upon hearing this information, many of them looked at each other in astonishment.

"Not only we have found the Yu kingdom, but also found him, Wei Sheng, the last emperor in the Wei bloodline,"

"You have found him?" A grey-haired man in his late seventies asked in a trembling voice.

"Yes, Elder Ji," Tang Fei replied and glanced at his secretary. Ahn Lu Shen who stood in a corner walked over and placed a long box on to the meeting table.

Tang Wei Sheng took the box and opened before everyone. In the velvet cushioned box, a majestic sword which had an emblem of a wolf engraved on its pommel, placed neatly.

"The soul slayer," Tang Fei proudly said, "The Emperor's sword,"

Everyone immediately lowered their heads and paid the respects.

"Since an archaeological research team from Jing university is involved, they have taken the remainings of the emperor for further scientific examinations."

"As for the oath taken by our ancestors, we must submit to the person who found the emperor," Shen Junru, one of the elders in the Wei bloodline reminded everyone.

After the battle in the Yu kingdom, no one heard from the emperor and his army. Even people who went in search of the Yu kingdom never returned. In the absence of a sovereign head, the allied kingdoms attacked the imperial city, massacred thousands of innocent lives. They looted the Zi Wei palace and burned it into ashes.

Wei Chang, the sole survivor of Wei bloodline barely escaped from the death, went hiding and the allies in favour of Wei family were forced to live in seclusion.

Miseries poured down the imperial city one after another. The renowned Wei kingdom was crumbled down like sandcastle The land which was fertile became barren, the rivers began to dry, famine and pandemic has spread all over the Wei kingdom. The hunger-stricken people started to kill each other for a bowl of rice.

The entire mainland believed that Wei bloodline got eradicated from its roots only because they decided to conquer the Jade land and brought the curse upon themselves.

"If he is the one who found the emperor, then I don't have any objections,"

The shares of Tang corporations skyrocketed overnight making them the ultimate top-dog in the world's biggest economy.

While the entire Tang family was celebrating their success, the person who was supposed to be the centre of attraction, appeared in low spirits.

"Ah Sheng, what happened?" Tang Fei asked his grandson who remained desolate and bereft. "You brought happiness to this old man's life. You held the power in your hands, what should we do to make you happy?"

"Cancel the engagement." Tang Wei Sheng opened his mouth to say,

It was merely a simple statement for him, but it made Tang Fei feel the oppressive aura laced on his commanding voice.

"Ah sheng, the word is given to Ning family, that you-" Tang Fei was trying to explain, but as soon as he saw the cold glint in his grand son's eyes he swallowed his words.

It is not Tang Wei Sheng who is sitting before him, it is his wolf.

"Do I look a person who cares about that wretched woman?" He said coldly.

"If it is not the young miss of Ning family, then who?" Tang Fei asked in a submissive tone.

"Li Juan."

The name which left Tang Wei Sheng's mouth shook Tang Fei's calm mind and his face immediately lost its colour.

"Hmm, I will cancel the engagement," he replied in a robotic voice. Tang Wei Sheng was his obedient grandson however, his alternate ego never bows down before anyone and like everyone else, Tang Fei feared the wolf.

"Hmm," Tang Wei Sheng hummed as he stood up, seeming like he did not have anything more to say to Tang Fei, slowly walking away to leave.

Tang Fei's brows furrowed tightly together, as the situation before him could be said to be extremely bad.

He immediately summoned Ahn Lu Shan,

"Where is she?" Tang Fei snarled, "That wretched girl, why is she is still alive?"

He tried every means to stop Tang Wei Sheng from getting close to Li Juan and in the end, all of their hard works went vain. Both, Tang Wei Sheng and his alter ego has become addicted to her, to a point where Tang Fei cannot reject his own grandson's request.

"Master, I got to know that miss Li has been admitted to the third military hospital in Xi city," Ahn Lu Shan said with a plain face, "She had a cerebral haemorrhage and currently is under observation. I don't think she will survive this time,"

Though the news of Li Juan's accident calmed his mind, he wasn't ready to give up. There is no way he is going to take her as Tang family's daughter-in-law.

"Secretary Ahn, make sure she will not leave the hospital alive," he instructed,

"Chairman, miss Li has promised that she will not go back to young master again." Ahn Lu Shen tried his best to re-evaluate Tang Fei's instruction.

Ahn Lu Shan considered himself as an iron-hearted person who does not waver in front of any emotions. Even he felt bad for Li Juan. Even after facing all the adversities, she ardently tried to survive- how can someone think of hurting her?

"Do you think that it will keep him away from her?" Tang Fei tossed a question at Ahn Lu Shan to which he had no answers.

"Wei Sheng's only weakness is that girl. For the sake of her, he won't even hesitate to take his own life. Once her presence is completely eliminated from his life, then only I can stay calm. I will not let anyone pose a threat to him."

"Yes master, understood." Ahn Lu Shan agreed, "I will go and take care of it myself,"

Ahn Lu Shan assured him and walked out of the room in steady steps.

In the military hospital in Xi city, the entire Bai family impatiently waited in front of the ICU.

Li Juan, who had a severe head injury has gone through two major surgeries in a week.

Even though she was out of danger unless she became conscious, the doctors were unable to consider the surgeries were successful.

The surgeries that have been performed on Li Juan was technically demanding procedures. Even the slightest mistake would have resulted in lasting side-effects. Less severe cases would result in decreased cognitive functions or compromised motor movements. Severe cases would outright cause paralysis or leave the patient in a coma.

For the entire week, Liang and the lead surgeon remained in the hospital, as a preventive measure, in case Li Juan's condition gets worse.

Even though Li Juan was unconscious, Liang refused to leave her side for even for a moment. He practically lived in the ICU, watching her sleeping face.

In order to avoid the infection, no one was allowed to visit her.

After three days of surgery, Li Juan was shifted to a room and her family was there to meet her.

"Miss, can you hear me?" Gu Ying, the lead surgeon who led the surgery asked while checking her response to the light and auditory stimuli. Normally these were the duties of the resident doctors. However, due to Liang's request, he agreed to check Li Juan's primary responses after the surgery.

Li Juan struggled to open her heavy eyelids when white light hit her irises,

"Good morning, Miss," Gu Ying smiled while checking Li Juan's vitals. Everything appeared normal,

"May I know your name?" Gu Ying asked in a calm voice and looked at the woman who was staring back at him with an expressionless face.

"Li...Juan...," she replied in a barely audible voice,

"Good, do you know who they are?" Gu Ying showed a photograph of her parents.

"They are my parents,"

"Can you tell me their names?"

"Bai Ze and Li Qin," she replied.

Gu Ying glanced at the resident doctor and made sure to note down the details.

"Where do you live?"

"I used to live in Jing city," Li Juan paused for a moment. "But now I Iive in S city,"

Upon hearing her answer, Gu Ying's bushy eyebrows slightly raised.

"Who all are in your family?"

"Mamma," Li Juan's answered in a word,

"Only mamma?"

Li Juan hummed in agreement.

"Do you recognize these people?" Gu Ying turned towards her family who was looking at with anticipation.

Li Juan stared at the people who were standing on the other side of the bed. Her eyes lacked any hint of familiarity,

"I am sorry," Li Juan said with an apologetic face.

"There is no need to worry," Gu Ying assured her, "what about this man?"

He called Bai Qi to come over,

"No, I don't remember seeing him." Li Juan replied.

"It is alright. It may be it's because you just woke up. Your family is here and they will help." Gu Ying suggested,

Wu Xuan Yi came closer to Li Juan with a smile.

During Li Juan's stay at Yu palace, she was one among the people whom Li Juan used to be closer.

However, Li Juan glanced at Wu Xuan Yi for a moment and looked at the group of people, as if she was searching for someone.

"Mamma...where is mamma?" Li Juan suddenly asked.

Li Juan's words left everyone in the room with a startled expression in their face.

"Princess!" Wu Xuan Yi called in a disheartened voice.

"Princess!" Li Juan looked at her with surprise. "Who?"

Suddenly there was a knock on the door, after a moment, a young man entered into the room.

Everyone's attention was shifted to the tall and slender figure who walked into the room with a worried expression.

"Wei Sheng Gege," it took Li Juan a moment to recognize the man who stood in front of her.

"Do you recognize him?" The doctor asked her with a bemused face.

"Yes," Li Juan replied with a radiant smile. "When did you arrive?"

There was a hint of surprise in Tang Wei Sheng's face. Li Juan called him "Wei Sheng gege," He walked over and sat beside her, with glistening eyes.

When was the last time he saw her smiling at him, like this?

"Gege," Looking at his dazed expression and she grabbed his arm which was placed on her bed. "It is me, Li Juan,"

"I know, sweetheart," Tang Wei Sheng held her palm and replied with a smile

Liang who saw this scene from outside felt the sky fall down around him.

The moment he realized that Li Juan had a head injury, he was afraid that she might end up losing her memories again.

And to Liang's horror, his worst nightmare came true.

Li Juan, she forgot him again.
