《World of Experts 》Chapter 14: A Small Demonstration of One’s Impressive Skills

Early the next morning. Twin Dragons Village was very peaceful as usual. Wang Fu came to report to Shi Hao and Feng Tianhao quite early.
Now, a new level 1 housing had already been built in the Twin Dragons Village, which consumed 10 lumbers and 10 material stones. The troops of the village had also expanded further. Altogether, there were 39 level 3 soldiers. Among them, 5 were archer (equipped with level 1 iron bow and iron armor), 10 were knights (equipped with level 1 iron sword and iron armor), 24 were fighters (equipped with level one iron armor).
Not surprisingly, they would reach level 4 today under the guidance of Li Yi.
In addition, the construction of a tailor shop was also underway. Wang Fu was an experienced old hand. He began the construction of a tailor shop first because he considered the soldiers’ demand for armor. It was just courting death if soldiers entered the battlefield without armor. Moreover, as long as there were sufficient armors, they could at least form a defense line, allowing the archers in the back to attack without any fear, and the knights could also take advantage of the opening to launch an attack.
However, it was not easy to build a tailor store.
Just the level 1 tailor shop needed 500 material stones, 500 lumbers and 5,000 copper coins. Twin Dragons Village had enough copper coins. But only 90 material stones and lumbers were left, which were far from enough. Therefore, it was impossible to build a tailor store today.
But without a tailor shop, the number of armors would naturally be insufficient. In normal times, there was no harm. In any case, when raising the level, the people who had items equipped could protect those who had no items. The cooperation of everyone was enough to deal with it. But during a big melee, who would care about anyone else?
Wang Fu stroked his grey beard and said: “Lord Village Chiefs, tomorrow morning will be our Twin Dragons Village’s first major trial. Naturally, with the addition of Lord Li Yi, our Twin Dragons Village already has ninety percent certainty to clear this trial. Originally, I also shouldn’t increase your troubles at this time. But at this moment, we only have 24 armors to provide to soldiers. We don’t have enough armor to support the remaining 15 soldiers. If we make those 15 people enter the battle bare-handed, then I guess that we’ll have maximum casualties! I wonder what Village Chiefs have thought about this?”
In Wang Fu’s heart, it was best to not let those 15 people join the battle. He couldn’t bear to let those young people die in vain. But Wang Fu was also aware! Since those 15 people had become Twin Dragons Village’s soldiers, they had a duty to defend their homeland. Moreover, due to Wang Fu’s encouragements and propaganda, these soldiers were greatly admired by the villagers. In essence, these people were defending Twin Dragons Village with their life. If they give up fighting just because they didn’t have armor, then they would become a joke of a soldier.

Therefore, without the personal instruction of Lord Village Chiefs, Wang Fu didn’t dare to arbitrarily decide those 15 soldiers’ matter. This might be a slap on his own face, but only the personal instruction of Lord Village Chiefs could prevent any gossip of other villagers.
Shi Hao was chewing a big bun and his eyebrows were very smooth.
Shi Hao then ate a mouthful of millet gruel and replied: “That’s a small matter. Those without armors don’t need to enter the battlefield. It’s just courting death if they enter the battlefield.”
Wang Fu withdrew with satisfaction. After the soldiers learned the news, they also worked even harder to clean up the mountain bandits’ strongholds. Shi Hao and Feng Tianhao were also leveling up in their own territory.
The sky gradually darkened, but the people of Twin Dragons Village didn’t turn off their light as usual. They all waited for bandits’ invasion.
At this moment, only one village gate of Twin Dragons Village was open. Looking closely, there were 24 well-equipped soldiers of Twin Dragons Village standing in combat readiness in front of the open village gate. The lights illuminated the entire village. Shi Hao, Feng Tianhao and Li Yi, they stood in front of the troops. This was Twin Dragons Village’s battle against the bandits. They seemed to be shouting, Bandits! Come here if you have the ability!
Shi Hao looked relaxed, humming a small tune and said: “It’s almost the time! Everyone, get ready.”
“Heh heh! My iron sword has long been hungry and thirsty.” Li Yi waves his hands roughly with a foolish smile on his face. Li Yi liked this kind of situation. Only this kind of situation could reflect his value. When everyone saw his domineering style of blocking hundreds of enemies on the battlefield, he would have good prospects.
It was time! The mountain was still pitch-black, no movements could be noticed.
But the sounds weren’t fake. The bandits weren’t uniform soldiers. The disorderly footsteps of bandits couldn’t escape everyone’s ears. Moreover, these messy footsteps were too noisy. Even the villagers hiding inside their house could hear them.
The corners of Shi Hao’s mouth rose a little as he said: “Prepare to change the formation!”
“Little ones, kill!” 15 bandit leaders took the lead to charge in succession while shouting: “Kill all these bastards, everything in the village belongs to us. Women, money, they are all ours!”
One had to say that Li Yi’s speed of clearing bandits’ strongholds was very good. Otherwise, how could only 15 bandit leaders appear here? And this number was also intentionally left by Li Yi. 15 was not many and also not few. It was exactly the number of Li Yi and 14 level 4 fighters.
As a matter of fact, under Shi Hao’s command, Li Yi galloped at the head, personally leading 14 level 4 fighters to form a 15 people flesh defense line.
In the defense line, there was no need to mention Li Yi’s defense. Even if he was completely surrounded, he wouldn’t lose any HP. And the defense of the 14 level 4 fighters was also not low. All had reached 30. In addition, coupled with the bluff of Shi Hao’s Soul of the Warrior, their defense was 33 points. This also implied that it was basically impossible for ordinary bandits with less than 30 points in attack to break through their defense! Moreover, the HP of these 14 level 4 fighters with the bluff was also no less than 22 points. Even if they were hit by the bandit leaders, they wouldn’t be killed in an instant. There would still be a chance to escape.

Therefore, from just this data analysis, this was a very good defense wall.
Shi Hao naturally knew these things. So, he stood in the back with a relaxed and pleased smile on his face. He was very confident in this defense line.
Sure enough! As Shi Hao had expected, the bandits swarmed to the 15 men flesh defense line and entered close combat.
“Damn it! Not good, run for it!” the bandits collapsed at the first encounter. These ordinary bandits lacked courage and confidence. When they saw that their knife couldn’t even injure those tough fighters, their morale nosedived. Since they couldn’t kill, they chose to run away.
However, how could those 5 archers of Twin Dragons Village just foolishly keep on watching? Even if those 5 archers were foolish, how could Shi Hao be foolish too?
Shi Hao smiled indifferently and said: “Release the arrows!”
Swish, swish, swish, swish, swish…! A row of ordinary bandits died after they were shot by arrows.
After all, ordinary bandits’ defense was 15 points and their HP was also 15 points. The attack of Shi Hao’s side’s 5 archers had reached 33 points with the bluff. With this contrast, it naturally was a one-shot kill.
In addition, it was worth mentioning that these 5 archers were very good at cooperating with each other. They had a tacit understanding, and their actions were uniform. These were all the credit of Li Yi’s training. In history, Li Yi was pretty good at training troops and he liked to personally charge on the battlefield.
Soon, the battle became even more unfavorable to bandits. The bandit leaders quickly noticed that their side had already lost 50-60 ordinary bandits.
However, these bandit leaders also didn’t panic.
The bandit leaders shouted: “Little ones, don’t panic! Don’t fear, these 15 fighters’ defense is a bit high. Cover us, block the arrows, and let us scatter.”
It should be mentioned that the bandit leaders’ this move was wise. The numerical advantage of bandits was obviously clear. The death of a couple of little bandits was nothing. As long as they become the flesh shield, block the arrows and those 15 fighters were killed, the situation would be reversed.
The bandit leaders seemed to be pressing forward recklessly, but they were obviously equipped with wisdom. Unfortunately, they underestimated the strength of Twin Dragons Village.
“It’s finally the time!” Li Yi began to attack. Li Yi’s one brutal sword move killed 3 ordinary bandits that blocked his way. Then, Li Yi didn’t stop! He pressed onward, killing bandits along the way. His fierce eyes terrified the group of bandits.
At this point, the bandit leaders finally discovered their misjudgment. They had always treated these 15 fighters as ordinary fighters. It, however, was wrong! The other 14 fighters were indeed just ordinary fighters, but this fighter in front of them was absolutely not an ordinary soldier. This fighter must be an expert! The bandit leaders naturally wanted to withdraw upon seeing this. Run if you can’t beat, this was bandits’ unique skill. The bandits had never been a regular army. But at this moment, the bandit leaders couldn’t withdraw because of the mission assigned to them by the system. The mission would fail if they return and they would be obliterated.
The bandit leaders gnashed their teeth and made up their minds!
“Don’t be arrogant!” 5 bandit leaders charged straight into the flesh defense line. The remaining 10 bandit leaders turned around and rushed towards Li Yi! If 1 couldn’t defeat, 10 will!
Unfortunately, the bandit leaders still misjudged! They couldn’t even break Li Yi’s defense. And Li Yi who had equipped level one iron sword along with the bluff of Shi Hao’s Soul of the Warrior, his attack had already reached 44 points. This attack power could kill bandit leaders in just 2 hits.
Therefore, these 10 bandit leaders that went to deal with Li Yi were already dead. At least, it was like that in the eyes of Shi Hao.
Almost every action on the battlefield was within the grasp of Shi Hao. Obviously, Shi Hao was already not far from victory. At this moment, the only thing that somewhat worried Shi Hao was those 14 level 4 fighters. Those 14 people had to face 5 bandit leaders. If by chance they had an accident, then the loss would outweigh the gain!
“I think it’s time for you to enter the stage and support.” The corners of Shi Hao’s mouth rose a little as he looked at Feng Tianhao beside him and said with some hesitation: “These 5 bandit leaders shouldn’t pose a problem for you. if you can’t, then I will go personally.”
Although Shi Hao had confidence in Feng Tianhao’s skills, he couldn’t avoid being worried. After all, it was a one-on-five fight. Feng Tianhao was not Li Yi, neither he had such a high level or such amazing skills. If Feng Tianhao truly had an accident, then Shi Hao would definitely feel guilty.
Feng Tianhao raised his eyebrows and didn’t reply to Shi Hao. Feng Tianhao was an action-oriented person, he wanted to use his actions to tell Shi Hao how good his skill was.
Feng Tianhao pulled out his iron sword, his heroic air overflowed and he prepared to advance without turning back!
“Wait a moment!” But the 5 knights behind Shi Hao stood out in unison and shouted: “Lord Village Chiefs, please let us go into the battle. We will definitely kill those 5 bandits.
Shi Hao frowned. Feng Tianhao also frowned. They then looked at each other and the atmosphere became a bit gloomy.

Paladin
When the first derelict alien spacecraft fell to Earth, humanity took what was found in it and propelled themselves to new heights. In their new Golden Age, humanity developed technology that they had only dreamed about. The following years saw hundreds more ships crash into the planet, spurring even greater technological leaps. An unassuming spacecraft, one of the dozens that fell yearly, descended on Siberia in 2021. The world took no particular notice of it. However, this one contained something beyond the miraculous technology that had made humans so prosperous. Three years later, in a top-secret underground facility in eastern Colorado, the automated construction of an army of Paladin Mobile Infantry Suits was underway. With this new, state-of-the-art weaponry, the military would turn the tide against the alien incursion that was consuming the planet. Humanity fell before that could happen. Sam was an engineer responsible for overseeing the facility. Now alone, he lives in utter boredom and near insanity, his only company the base’s pseudo AI and an army of empty Paladins. With the world gone to hell around him, and the things that caused it still living above, he decides that he is much better off staying exactly where he is. Unfortunately for him, that is no longer an option. This is the first novel I've written. The first fifteen or so chapters are going to be a little slower. I want there to be time to get to know the characters before they start blowing stuff up. Also, though the MC will be strong relative to the world, he won't be OP, and won't win every fight. Not every fight will be physical either. Currently, I'm aiming for something like 5 fairly short chapters a week, after the introduction part is done, but we'll see how that goes. Thanks for reading, and please let me know if I've made mistakes!

Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.
