《World of Experts 》Chapter 18: Happy Cooperation

At this moment, when Shi Hao saw that Zhang Yang was hesitating, Shi Hao was delighted in his heart, and his eyes shone. Shi Hao knew that this hesitation was good news. The hesitation of Zhang Yang meant that Zhang Yang intended to give Shi Hao a chance! If he had no such intention, then why would Zhang Yang hesitate?
Shi Hao struck while the iron was still hot and said: “Village Chief Zhang, do you have something to say? As long as Twin Dragons Village can do it, we will do our best.”
Zhang Yang waved his hand with a look of hesitation, then said in a low voice: “My Tranquil Water Village has a lot of money, and it also has sufficient goods and materials. If Village Chief Shi wants to exchange money for goods and materials, then that’s just a loss-making deal for my Tranquil Water Village. Although Village Chief Shi and I hit it off well right from the start, it would be inappropriate for me to make such a choice.”
Zhang Yang was right. He and Shi Hao were different. Shi Hao was a member of Twin Dragons Village, and above Zhang Yang, there furthermore was the command of Divine and Mighty Alliance. If Zhang Yang sold a lot of goods and materials to Twin Dragons Village, ultimately causing Tranquil Water Village’s economic strength to remain at a standstill, then that would be a crime. At that time, Zhang Yang wouldn’t be able to protect his official post. However, even like that, why was Zhang Yang hesitating? It was because Zhang Yang seemed to be unable to maintain his current official post very soon.
Zhang Yang continued: “But if Village Chief Shi can help this Zhang with a certain matter, then this Zhang can sign an agreement with Village Chief Shi. In the future, Tranquil Water Village will sell a certain portion of goods and materials to Twin Dragons Village at the cheapest possible price. Naturally, this portion shouldn’t seriously affect my Tranquil Water Village’s development. Moreover, my Tranquil Water Village will never sign a similar agreement with other villages.”
Shi Hao was extremely excited and he replied: “Village Chief Zhang, this Shake the Heaven will not decline any terms.”
Upon hearing this, Zhang Yang’s expression instead became more serious as he said: “Village Chief Shi, there is no need to be so impatient to answer. Listen to me first before making the decision again.”
As it turned out that although the economic strength of Tranquil Water Village led by this strategist, Zhang Yang was not weak, its military power was too unsightly in contrast to other villages of Divine and Mighty Alliance. This was nothing surprising, after all, Zhang Yang’s skill was National Farming, not National Soldier. However, the matter of insufficient military power was also not a matter of life and death. With the signboard of Divine and Mighty Alliance hanging above them, who would dare to attack them?
It was a pity that there truly were some people who dared to attack, and those who could attack! The members of Divine and Mighty Allaince could attack each other.
In Divine and Mighty Alliance, Zhang Yang had an arch-enemy named Wang Ling. Wang Ling was also a C grade historical NPC, whose profession was commander! The character model of Wang Ling was a military officer of Qin State during the Warring States period. Wang Ling had no well-known successful campaign in history, and he was eventually let go from the position of military officer. However, Wang Ling of Divine and Mighty Alliance was thriving relying on his boasting skill. And as a matter of fact, he was about to seize Zhang Yang’s position as Tranquil Water Village’s Village Chief relying on his ‘strength’.
Wang Ling had made a proposal to the Divine and Mighty Alliance. Considering the appearance of many strange forces (players) in West Flower Region, it was necessary to strengthen military strength to increase the deterrent force of Divine and Mighty Alliance. Like that, everyone could continue to honestly live and work in peace and contentment under the deterrent force of Divine and Mighty Alliance. And for this reason, he should replace Zhang Yang’s position.
To put it bluntly, Wang Ling’s such trivial reasoning was feasible and also not feasible. Naturally, Divine and Mighty Alliance’s deterrent force should be increased and stabilized continuously. But the characters like Wang Ling had nothing to do with matters like increasing the deterrence force! The higher-ups of Divine and Mighty Alliance weren’t brainless. They naturally knew this point. Therefore, Divine and Mighty Alliance initially didn’t give him a reply.
Upon seeing this situation, Wang Ling spent a lot of his savings and successfully opened up some links in Divine and Mighty Alliance. Eventually, Divine and Mighty Alliance issued an order for seemingly fair competition between Zhang Yang and Wang Ling, and the winner of the competition would become the Village Chief of Tranquil Water Village. The content of this competition was naturally tilted towards Wang Ling!
The content of the competition was, Wang Ling and Zhang Yang would each form a team of 100 people, plus a captain. Altogether, 202 people would participate in this competition. Naturally, the level of both sides’ soldiers should be the same and the level of the captains should also be the same. Otherwise, the bias would be too obvious. According to the agreement, the soldiers should be level 5 and the captains should be level 10. During the exercise, as long as someone was at death’s door on the stage, he had to quickly withdraw from action to avoid death. The competition was divided into two matches. The first match was soldiers VS soldiers. The second match was, captain VS captain. Perhaps, since the previous rules were somewhat biased, as long as Zhang Yang wins a match, or even a tie, Zhang Yang would have the final victory.
“That’s how things are! Counting days, the competition is just 10 days away.” Zhang Yang frowned. The more he spoke, the sadder he looked. In fact, that unworried expression showed by Zhang Yang in front of Shi Hao before was just an acting skill trained in Divine and Mighty Alliance. The current sad expression was his real mental state.
Shi Hao stepped forward bravely and with a heroic look, he said: “It’s no bother, 10 days later, all troops of our Twin Dragons Village will be provided to Village Chief Zhang to use. Twin Dragons Village’s troops are all elites. On the same level, they have no opponents! Village Chief Zhang can rest assured.”
Shi Hao depended on Soul of the Warrior when he said so. Shi Hao’s soldiers were just sent to Zhang Yang for a competition. The soldiers still belonged to Shi Hao and they would still receive Shi Hao’s skill bluff. And after the bluff, the soldiers’ combat power was naturally elite. Moreover, Shi Hao’s soldiers were trained by Li Yi, and Li Yi was a genuine warrior. The soldiers he trained were all outstanding. This point was evident when repelling the bandits’ invasion. Therefore, Shi Hao was very confident in achieving victory.
However, Zhang Yang didn’t know these things about Shi Hao. He just knew that Li Yi, that big dark man beside Shi Hao was very powerful. As long as Li Yi entered the battle as a captain, there was over 90% chance that he would win the captain match. Even if he couldn’t win, he would at least be able to achieve a tie, which was enough! Speaking about it, if Li Yi hadn’t followed Shi Hao this time, then Zhang Yang would have directly refused Shi Hao’s invitation to cooperate without any hesitation. Although Shi Hao’s soldiers were strong, in Zhang Yang’s eyes, they were no better than Wang Ling’s.

Zhang Yang sighed in relief and said: “Since that is the case, I’m also relieved. Let’s sign the agreement immediately. Twin Dragons Village will supply military strength to Tranquil Water Village, and ensure that Tranquil Water Village will successfully pass through this competition. Tranquil Water Village will supply a certain portion of goods and materials at a cheap price to Twin Dragons Village. After Tranquil Water Village and Twin Dragons Village sign this agreement, the agreement will immediately go into effect.”
“Good! Happy cooperation.” Shi Hao naturally agreed, and immediately after Shi Hao and Zhang Yang signed their name on the proposed agreement, the agreement became effective. This agreement was like a law, automatically supervised by the system. The side that violates the signed agreement would be punished by the system. For players, the light punishment was, locked in a system prison and all game resources would be confiscated. As for heavy punishment, the character would be obliterated! As for the NPCs, they had only one path, death.
Shi Hao happily led everyone to borrow transportation tools from Tranquil Water Village and returned to Twin Dragons Village with big and small goods and materials. The goods and materials were different from other items. Other than food, water and copper coins, the goods and materials like stone materials, lumber and so on couldn’t be stored in a character’s inventory. If anyone wants to transport these goods and materials, then they could only use the transportation tools provided by the system in the village’s warehouse. Naturally, the number of transportation tools provided by the system was also not unlimited. A warehouse had only so many transportation tools. If you want more, then you should either upgrade the warehouse or built another warehouse. The rule was so simple.
“Old Wang, we are back!” Feng Tianhao shouted. This time, when returning from Tranquil Water Village, Feng Tianhao had chosen the shortest way in accordance with the marks he made on the map when they were coming. The return journey was smooth. The time they spent on the road was also much shorter. At this moment, it was just evening.
“Old Wang, quickly bring people to carry these things!” Shi Hao also shouted.
Wang Fu hurried over after hearing the shouts, and he was shocked, appeared stunned. Wang Fu had never thought that the two Village Chiefs would bring so many valuable goods and materials after going out. Among them, there were 500 iron ores, 900 stone materials, 900 lumber, and 200 gold. So many resources, even if the entire Twin Dragons Village had gone to mine, even if there were mineral vein refresh points, it would take nearly a month to gather them!
“Quick! Quick! Quick! Everyone, put more strength! Now the matter of the village’s tailor shop is settled!” Wang Fu quickly instructed villagers to move the necessary goods and materials directly to the construction site, quickly starting to build a tailor shop. By this time tomorrow, a tailor shop would have already been built. With a tailor shop, armors would be rolling in continuously. Naturally, the production of standard armor didn’t require learning skills. But the items above standard grade requires skills. So, they couldn’t be made for the time being.
Shi Hao was extremely satisfied. However, the matter was not over yet. After taking things, he had to pay. Otherwise, it would be a breach of the agreement.
Shi Hao said: “Old Wang, look at this map, we’ll often take this route in the future. Furthermore, give Uncle Li Yi copper coins and let him settle the payment of these things later. These are all purchased from the Tranquil Water Village next door.”
“What! Money…” Wang Fu was too excited at first. So many things with special transportation tools, they naturally shouldn’t be a pie falling from the sky. Spending money was unavoidable. But Wang Fu felt awkward. He roughly calculated that these things should cost 70-80,000 copper coins! And the Twin Dragons Village’s warehouse had just 40,000 copper coins now. How could Wang Fu get the money to pay?
Shi Hao saw through the concern of Wang Fu and said: “Old Wang, don’t worry. 20,000 copper coins are enough. The fund in the warehouse is sufficient.”
“What!” Wang Fu was so excited that he nearly danced in joy. They just needed to pay 20,000 for the goods and materials that should cost roughly 80,000, shouldn’t they just resell goods and materials hereafter? However, only a fool would do that. If you resell the goods and materials, how would your village develop? After the other people develop further, the goods and materials you sold would become the lethal weapon to kill you.
Therefore, Wang Fu took out 20,000 copper coins and handed them over to Li Yi. Li Yi then left with a few soldiers. Such a large sum of money, only in the hands of Li Yi, they all could feel assured. They don’t need to fear being robbed by other people. Shi Hao and Feng Tianhao returned to the Council Hall and checked the current state of Twin Dragons Village.

Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)
