《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 563. Willing To Die For Money

“Where?” Fearless and Spring Halo heard Wang Yu and immediately stopped their discussion and turned over.
“Here, Dead Spirit Swamp” Wang Yu pointed at the main city on the map and said.
In >, main cities were vastly different. Most of them were named based on their geographic features and tend to be very simple. Dead Spirit Swamp sounded like a practice region but it was actually the name of a relatively famous main city. It was not the only main city which was named as a swamp. In Elf City’s outskirts, there was a main city called Silent Dream Swamp.
“Dead Spirit Swamp? It is far from being an ocean…” Spring Halo said as he looked at where Wang Yu was pointing at.
Swamp and ocean were two very different things… As a professional hydraulic engineer, Spring Halo definitely could not allow these two to be confused.
“There is indeed some difference between a swamp and an ocean, but are you sure that the Ocean of Death is really an ocean?” Wang Yu questioned.
“Erm…” Spring Halo was speechless. Based on how > was so unpredictable, it was highly possible that Ocean of Death was not an ocean.
“But how are you sure that this is Ocean of Death?” Spring Halo asked.
“Because amongst the main cities along the mountain range, only this area has water…” Wang Yu’s reply made Spring Halo’s blood pressure sky rocket.
“Such imagination…” Spring Halo was about to diss Wang Yu but Fearless who was staring at the map intensely suddenly said, “I think Old Bull is right!”
“You also think it’s because there is water there?” Spring Halo said in disbelief as in comparison to Wang Yu’s conjecture, Fearless had always preferred to speak by evidence.
“Not only because there’s water. Don’t you see that this main city is called Dead Spirit Swamp?” Fearless said.
After hearing what Fearless explained, everyone immediately understood, “So that’s why.”

Dead spirit represents death. If it was purely because there was water, he naturally could not convince the rest but if he added the dead spirit analysis? There could not be such a coincidence. Hence, the so-called Ocean of Death was a word play by the system.
“Wow, Old Bull, you are not bad. Let’s not waste more time and hurry over!” Seeing that they had found the Ocean of Death’s location, everyone applauded.
The best things in > could only be obtained through a S-level quest. It was either searching for a high level wild relic or hidden storylines. Storylines and practice area’s beasts rarely gave anything good but the clues alone to this so-called Atlanta chapter already cost one thousand gold coins. Naturally, they knew what to expect for the treasure’s value.
“We can’t directly go there… Dead Spirit Swamp is part of the Dark Faction’s territory. Without an airship, we need to enter it from the nearest main city.” Fearless said.
When players were free, airships could fly to any main city but after players joined a faction, there was a defined border of control. Players from the Light Faction cannot enter the Dark Faction’s territory with an airship.
Not only so. As two opposing factions, there was a culture to battle whenever they came across each other. Hence, even if they could fly into the main city, once they leave the spaceship, the players from both sides would not be able to escape death.
These were the basic settings of the game and were understood by everyone. Hearing what Fearless said, everyone asked, “Which is the nearest main city?”
“Berserk Thunder City!” Fearless pointed at the map and said briefly.
“Berserk Thunder City? Isn’t that Hidden Lurker’s city?” Ming Du asked.
Fearless nodded and said, “Yes, after passing Ironcliff Fortress, it will be in the vicinity of Dead Spirit Swamp.”
“Hmm, will Hidden Lurker get people to stop us…” Vainglory frowned as he said.

“Stop us if they can. If they dare to come, we shall kill them again and again!” Wang Yu said in disdain.
“…” everyone took a deep breath and unitedly praised Wang Yu, “Brother Bull’s heroicness has my greatest respect!”
Wang Yu wondered, “Isn’t it just one Hidden Lurker? Why are you guys so afraid?”
Fearless dismissed Wang Yu with a wave and said, “You don’t know. What’s important is not Hidden Lurker but the fact that Berserk Thunder City is his territory.”
No matter how strong they were, it was difficult to defeat a local. Battles between guilds from different main cities were not ended casually.
This was especially in >, a game with an extremely strong sense of reality, players had very strong awareness of their territory.
When guilds from the same main city had frictions, after a small fight, both sides could simply sit down to discuss victory and defeat. However, battles across main cities were feared by many.
After all, an outsider guild which started a ruckus was not only enemies with that single guild. Other guilds from that main city may also get involved.
Perhaps it sounded impressive to rule the world. The only time a multi-main city battle happened in > was started by a guild who attacked a small guild of a dozen players. However, they were still defeated.
Therefore, without complete confidence, no guild dared to start a fight in another main city. Otherwise, when Hidden Lurker and Quan Zhen Sect stole Nine Solitary Spears’ BOSS, other guilds would have interfered.
Hidden Lurker lost the Atlanta’s Key, a very important tool. Based on his personality, he would not let it go so easily. Furthermore, he also knew the synopsis of this quest. Hence, he definitely would be laying ambush in Berserk Thunder City as it was his homeground. Why would Quan Zhen Sect still dare to wreak havoc in his presence?
“I see…” Wang Yu nodded and said, “Let’s escape if we can’t win. Anyway, they cannot catch me. Let me tell you guys, I can run extremely fast now.”
“F*ck, what a show off!” Everyone despised Wang Yu.
“Fearless, how should we…” Everyone knew that there was no way they could rely on Wang Yu, such an extreme-style lad, so they placed their hopes on Fearless.
Fearless smiled and said, “I also think that running if we can’t win is a good idea…”
“F*ck, stop messing with us!”
“I’m serious. Think about it otherwise. Based on Hidden Lurker’s selfish nature, would he inform the entire world about the Atlanta’s Key?” Fearless said after pausing.
Vainglory casually spoke, “It is such a valuable item. That bastard probably won’t even tell his closest people.”
Hidden Lurker was an extremely selfish person. Back then, he and Solitary Ling were publicly recognised as a couple so they should be the closest to each other. However, for just an equipment, he kicked his wife and even poured dirty water over her. Such a bastard definitely did not have the ability to be sincere to anyone.
“That right!” Fearless laughed, “So I guess Hidden Lurker won’t even tell his guild people about this. At most he will act in the dark as he could not afford to attract attention.”
“Are you sure?” Everyone felt less pressured even after hearing Fearless’ analysis.
Fearless said, “I am only sure that there are many good things in Atlanta and scaredy cats will definitely not get them.”
Fearless enunciated “good things” extremely prominently, making everyone excited after hearing it.
Ming Du rolled his sleeves and said, “Ok, since you say so, at most I’ll die once. Am I the kind of person who feared death?!”
“Exactly, we, Quan Zhen Sect are afraid of everything except stirring trouble!” Everyone collectively agreed.

Far Strider
A college student finds himself transported into a strange land with burgeoning magical powers, and is taken in by Ned Stark. Will he sink or swim in this medieval society, and will he ever get home? ====================== OC-insert without knowledge of Game of Thrones, new planeswalker. Slow power ramp. Second crossover: Star Wars (around chapter 39). ======================= As a note, I started this as a speed writing challenge to myself. The challenge was successful, and I managed 100,000+ words (as well as some character sheets in excel and such) over 10.5 days. Then I had to stop and let my hands recover from their burgeoning carpal tunnel syndrome. The story currently stands at around 150,000 words (or ~550 RRL pages) over 54 chapters; expect a chapter a day until I've caught up with the backlog. The focus of this story was not quality writing, and that hasn't changed. I mostly use it as my semi-guilty "I need to write something, but am not focused enough to write something good" story. Expect self-indulgent writing in general, and a bit of OP (or, well, more than just a bit if we're being honest), especially later in the story as the protagonist matures into a more full-blown Planeswalker. But if you're looking for something with a power-ramping protagonist romping around the place, something you'd be a bit embarrassed to admit liking (I know I am) but like anyways (and come on, this is RRL, so that probably describes just about everyone here who actually has shame), then this may be a nice bit of mental junk food for you.
