《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 728. The Fairy Deity's Three Guards

At the same time, Wang Yu was able to clearly identify what was the creature that attacked him.
The three creatures weren’t big in size, in fact, they were shorter than Wang Yu by more than two heads. They had thin waists and big chests, and each had a different colour, namely yellow, red and green. From the looks of it, they were humanoid creatures. However, there were many differences between them and a human. Apart from them having an additional pair of hands, they had two antennas growing at the top of their heads. They looked more like insects instead.
The upper two hands of the yellow creature were holding onto a huge pincer that released a murderous aura. Standing opposite of Wang Yu, the upper two limbs of the red creature were holding onto two rings of fire, one on each hand, both radiating murderous energy that could be released at any time. The green creature, on the other hand, was holding onto a pair of sharp thorns with which it used to attack Wang Yu previously.
Wang Yu promptly cast a Probing Skill. Shortly after, the attributes of all three creatures appeared before him.

Talent: Berserk, Flight
Background Description: One of the three guards of the Flower Deity, extremely powerful.
Toxic Green Ant Guard (LV 55) (Gold-grade Boss) (Elite)
HP: 500000
MP: 50000
Skills: [Green Ant Stab], [Green Ant Ambush], [Green Ant Tail Device]
Talent: Poison, Shadow
Background Description: One of the three guards of the Flower Deity, extremely powerful.
“…”
When Wang Yu saw the attributes of the three creatures, he knew he could no longer take things lightly.
Even though their HP for a BOSS was considered relatively low, they were all Gold-grade elite ranked.
Furthermore, from the short exchange previously, these monsters seem to be of the agility type and one of them was even able to fly…

Wang Yu’s style of combat relied more on his techniques rather than his attributes. Facing such agility based monsters would prove to be a headache for him. Furthermore, Wang Yu had been poisoned by the Toxic Green Ant Guard. The continuous loss of HP was not what concerned Wang Yu, rather, it was the 40% reduction in speed that impaired him.
To make things worse, Wang Yu was currently empty-handed. Facing three higher-classed Gold-grade elite Bosses would prove to be a difficult challenge.
After sizing up the three monsters that were currently dashing towards him, he sighed, before promptly retrieving a dagger from his inventory.
This dagger was called “Wind Tooth Blade” and was an item stolen from Sanguine Wolf by Wang Yu. It was an Obsidian grade weapon with attributes that could greatly boost an Assassins’ abilities. For an Assassin, it was a splendid piece of equipment. However, for Wang Yu, it was merely a tool with higher attack power. Normally, Wang Yu would rather fight bare-handed than use it.
However, facing off against the three creatures, especially the venomous Toxic Green Ant Guard, Wang Yu had no choice but to use a weapon to protect himself. After all, the higher grade the equipment was, the higher the durability and thus the higher its defense capabilities.
Just when Wang Yu was in the process of retrieving his weapon, the Yellow Scorpion activated its [Shadow Sweep] and flew towards him with two pincers aimed at Wang Yu’s neck. From the looks of it, Wang Yu’s neck was about to be sliced off.
“Haha!”
Upon seeing the Yellow Scorpion Guard attack, Wang Yu merely laughed.
[Rising Strike Shadow Seep] from the name itself sounds like an extremely cool ability. However, in terms of the skill’s technique, it was a hopeless way of attacking as there were many flaws in the attack itself.
Seeing the Yellow Scorpion Guard flying towards him, Wang Yu calmly raised his dagger, halting the Yellow Scorpion’s Pincer. At the same time, his right hand throwing a punch at the creature.
As the target was a Boss, Wang Yu activated a fist skill with that punch. The fist sent forth a huge shockwave upon impact with the Yellow Scorpion Guard’s chin.

As Wang Yu’s attack was with his bare fist, the damage output was rather low as the system could not factor in any additional equipment damage. However, this fist from Wang Yu blasted the Yellow Scorpion Guard far away, which was Wang Yu’s motive from the beginning.
When fighting with a numerical disadvantage, the thing to avoid is allowing the enemies to get close to you.
After sending the Yellow Scorpion Guard flying, Wang Yu swiftly struck towards his back with his left hand, which was wielding the dagger in the reversed manner. “Dang!”, the dagger deflected away two Sharp Thorns. Shortly after, the figure of the Toxic Green Ant Guard could be seen behind Wang Yu.
Wang Yu pivoted his body on his foot, turning around swiftly. He activated [Rippling Wave] on his right hand and threw it at the Toxic Green Ant Guard’s face, at the same time making use of the impact to send himself floating backwards a certain distance. Following which, he kicked out to his rear, activating [Thunder God’s Stomp], landing squarely on the chest of the Yellow Scorpion Guard that once again charged at him.
The pitiful Yellow Scorpion Guard was once again sent flying.
Right at this moment, the Toxic Green Ant Guard had melted the ground at which Wang Yu was previously standing on. Soon after, a pile of lava spewed upwards from the ground.
Upon seeing this, Wang Yu smirked. If he had not dodged it quickly, he would have been burnt to death by it. Seeing how scary the damage output from these three monsters was, it was no wonder why Crotch Lord, who had such a high HP, wasn’t even able to survive one wave of their attacks.
After landing on the ground, Wang Yu lifted his head to look at the Scarlet Wasp Demon Guard that was still hovering in the air. With a swing of his right hand, a string of rope flew towards it, accurately wrapping around the Scarlet Wasp Demon Guard’s this waist. Wang Yu then tugged hard on the rope, borrowing the force to leap into the air. In midair, Wang Yu flew as if he was on a swing, towards the Yellow Scorpion Guard, at the same time kicking out with both his legs, planting them firmly onto the Yellow Scorpion Guard’s face.
Needless to say, Wang Yu’s attainment in his combat cultivation was incomparable. The Toxic Green Ant Guard’s speed reduction was a restriction on a player’s movement. The brat, however, was actually flying in midair. Naturally, the reduction in movement speed would not be effective at all.
Reduction in speed? Daddy here is able to fly in midair, who the hell even needs to use his legs to move?
“Boom boom boom boom!”
A chain of damages flashed above the head of the Yellow Scorpion Guardian. Wang Yu finished the chain attack with [Eagle Stomp], sending the Yellow Scorpion Guardian flying to the ground.
After sending the Yellow Scorpion guardian to the ground, Wang Yu took another leap into the air with both his legs, soaring into the air once more. He floated towards the direction of the Toxic Green Ant Guard that was heading towards him.
Seeing Wang Yu flying towards it, the Toxic Green Ant Guard readied both its Thorns, preparing to viciously slash the lower half of Wang Yu’s body. Who knew Wang Yu was even more treacherous. He took aim at the Toxic Green Ant Guard, promptly throwing his dagger at it.
Seeing that the Toxic Green Ant Guard frantically using both its hands to guard against the dagger, Wang Yu used the opportunity to retrieve his dagger and slash off the two antennas on the Toxic Green Ant Guard’s head.
Without its antennas, the Toxic Green Ant Guard almost lost its balance…
Right at this moment, Wang Yu had already landed behind the Toxic Green Ant Guard. With a flick of his wrist, the dagger in his hand pierced through the temple of the Toxic Green Ant Guard.
“Pssh!”

Above the head of the Toxic Green Ant Guard appeared a huge number, which represented the damage received by the monster.
Without giving the Toxic Green Ant Guard a chance to counter attack, Wang Yu tugged on the rope once more, leaping upwards with both his legs, floating to another position. At the same moment, flames which enveloped the sky landed on the area which the Toxic Green Ant Guard was standing on.

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
