《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 1313. Easily Guarded, Difficult To Attack

An item like a pair of wings was an incredibly rare existence. With over 50 to 60 experts flying up at the same time, it was truly a spectacular sight.
The other players beneath them were all dumbfounded by a sight like that.
At this moment, Fearless instructed the rest of the players, “We shall follow behind them now!”
“Follow behind them?”
Captain Don’t Open Fire asked in shock, “A forceful attack?”
“Of course not!” Fearless continued, “I have no time to explain everything to you now. Later on, you’ll eventually understand. Everyone, speed up a little! We have limited time.”
Void Blade was considered a large guild and those selected by Captain Don’t Open Fire were inevitably top elite experts in their guild. Overall, they were players who knew how to play the game relatively well.
Once Fearless gave his instructions, one thousand of them split into three waves as they stood according to the formation Fearless came out with. Shortly after, they barged through the entrance of Harbor City in a majestic manner.
Concurrently, Wang Yu and the Void Blade’s Assassins already arrived at the top of the canyon stealthily.
Their opponents were merely Level 50 elite monsters and since everyone there was an expert, the planned ambush was completed smoothly.
Before the lookout pirates could react, the Assassins already thrust their daggers through their hearts.
White radiances glowed as the lookout pirates were well taken care of by the various experts.
Because of the destruction of the bell, the pirates hiding in Harbor City were not alerted by the deaths of the lookout pirates.
The lookout pirates were basically the pirates guarding the entrance of the city. After getting rid of them, the switch to open the sluice gate appeared in front of everyone.
Wang Yu went over to give it a hard pull.
“Kakakaka!”
Following the crackling sounds, the massive sluice gate rose unhurriedly.
At this point, Fearless brought his massive army as they charged towards canyon in front of Harbor City’s entrance.

All of them were experienced players who had participated in the City War. All of them knew that the most important segment of a City War was the city gate.
Once they managed to break through the city gate, half the City War would have been won.
When everyone saw how effortless the gate was opened by the ambush team, the players cheered loudly as they prepared to charge in to take over the city.
However, Fearless suddenly gave a command when they arrived in front of the gate, “Do not proceed any further and wait for my command at where you are!”
“What?”
When everyone heard what Fearless said, they thought they misheard him as they were in disbelief. Captain Don’t Open Fire even asked, “Boss Fearless, didn’t you say you wanted an all-out attack?”
Now that the city gate was opened, why did Fearless stopped them from entering?
“Do you understand basic English?”
All of a sudden, Fearless became exceedingly solemn as he said, “My commands are that all of you stay right where you are! Anyone who crosses the gate shall die!”
The moment everyone heard Fearless’ words, a fire wall rose right in front of the city gate. Ming Du appeared with a staff on his hand on the top of the canyon while Wang Yu and the rest stood on the periphery of the canyon.
Violence might not be able to solve all problems but it could take care of people with problems.
Initially, everyone was not entirely convinced by Fearless’ commands. However, all of them stood where they were obediently when they saw Wang Yu and the rest on the canyon.
Being in the Twilight City, they were never going to offend the players from the Quan Zhen Sect. These fellas were as straightforward and ruthless as one could be. If they mentioned that they were going to kill your entire family, then your entire family would be dead. If they were truly offended, it was highly possible that players like them could be killed even before the appearance of the pirates.

After all, these fellas were not afraid of being ruthless when needed. To them, a moment of leniency could cause greater damage in the future. Therefore, they were not going to be lenient on these people.
Seeing that everyone stood where they were, Fearless flew towards the front of the formation and said, “Everyone in front and back, stagger yourselves!”
Staggering was one of the most basic group formations in online gaming. It was a formation where the last row of players stood in the space between the players in the front row.
This was a supplementary battle formation. Once the front row of players couldn’t hang on anymore, the back row players could step in immediately to support them.
A battle formation like that was usually used by squads with an advantage in numbers. In a situation with narrow environments, this could maximise the unique characteristic of having more people.
Captain Don’t Open Fire came forward to ask when he saw how Fearless was arranging the troops, “Don’t tell me you’re going to fight the pirates in this canyon?”
“That’s right!” Fearless nodded, “This is where the decisive battle will be held!”
“But…” A confused Captain Don’t Open Fire looked towards the two sides of the canyon before saying, “The terrain here is really low and is basically the easiest place in Harbor City to be attacked. Wouldn’t we be at a disadvantage if we hold the battle here?”
“Haha!” Fearless smiled and looked at Captain Don’t Open Fire as though he was a complete idiot.
Indeed, the reason why Harbor City was an easy place to defend and difficult place to attack was mainly because it was completely surrounded by city walls like an iron bucket. The only entrance was this canyon.
Evidently, a narrow terrain like that could be easily guarded. A squad of players placed here would be enough to take out enemies ten times their sizes in terms of numbers.
This was common knowledge and being able to point this out proved that Captain Don’t Open Fire was not a complete idiot. However, it also showed that he was not someone who understood war strategies.
Fearless pointed to the top of the canyon and asked Captain Don’t Open Fire, “Do you see who is on top of the canyon?”
Captain Don’t Open Fire lifted his head to see Wang Yu, the rest of the Quan Zhen Sect as well as the Assassins from his guild.
“F*ck…”
Captain Don’t Open Fire seemed to have realised something as he was slightly taken aback, “But a terrain like that is easy to guard and difficult to attack. If we don’t head in fast enough, are we going to wait for them to guard us?”
“Easy to guard and difficult to attack!” Fearless smiled, “It seems like you only know this phrase but not the actual meaning behind this phrase.”
“The actual meaning?” Captain Don’t Open Fire was dazed, “What do you mean?”
Fearless pointed to the narrow canyon again, “Very simple! In the same terrain, it is easy for whoever that is defending it!”
“This?”
Hearing what Fearless said, even Captain Don’t Open Fire, who was clueless about war strategies, understood.
The canyon was just a terrain which was not going to help either side. It was only going to be beneficial to those who knew how to make use of it.
By attacking from the outside, it would be easy for the pirates to defend against them. So why doesn’t everyone stay in formation and await the attacks from the pirates?
It seemed like once the roles were reversed, the same place was going to be beneficial to the other party.

I do hope you enjoy the story I shall endeavor to tell. ~ Average post between 1000 - 3000 words. This is a work in progress, and will be edited and adjusted over time.
