《MMORPG: Martial Gamer》Chapter 1534. My Job Is To Scam You

Giant Dragon tribesmen weren’t easily appeased. These giant lizards were well-known for their temper. Earlier in the year, huge changes arose because of them.
However, Wang Yu was saying that their Dragon Emperor was his entourage… Wasn’t he asking for an early death?
Staring at these Giant Dragons around them, Wang Yu’s words nearly slapped Prairie Fire’s soul out of his body…
“Are you joking?”
Wang Yu waved his hands, “Nah, I’ll never joke about something like this.”
Even though the Giant Dragon Tribe didn’t want to believe Wang Yu’s words, he had the evidence. Other than his explanation, there was no other reason for Dales’ seal removal. That was because this was the system’s regulation. It was fate that even a God-grade BOSS couldn’t escape from.
Wang Yu’s Dragon Emperor’s Token was real, too. That meant that his words had to be true.
All of a sudden, the middle-aged men whispered furtively for a while before that middle-aged man, Manda, said to Wang Yu courteously. “Since you’re my beloved emperor’s master, the Giant Dragon Tribe must fall under your control…”
“What?” “What did you say?”
With these words from Manda, Wang Yu didn’t say anything. Instead, Prairie Fire was so shocked that he nearly jumped up.
This was the Giant Dragon Tribe. They were one of the strongest tribes in the game. However, they wanted to bow down and listen to Wang Yu’s orders. This… Prairie Fire couldn’t believe his ears.
However, Wang Yu waved his hands, “I’m just friends with Dales. I took him in as a follower only because that was the only way to release him without binding him to a master. You don’t have to do this…”
“Brother Bull, you must be kidding me. This is the Giant Dragon Tribe!” Seeing Wang Yu reject the Giant Dragon Tribe’s invitation casually, Prairie Fire was even more shocked.

What was a joke? This was a joke. Even though the Giant Dragon Tribe was so strong, he rejected their offer anyway. Who knew what was going through Wang Yu’s mind?
“No!” Wang Yu waved his hands and smiled casually. It was as if he had just rejected some money. Wang Yu’s attitude left one groveling on the ground.
Of course, it wasn’t as if Wang Yu didn’t want to take control of the Giant Dragon Tribe. It was because he couldn’t.
That was because Wang Yu was an upright person. He had obtained Dales’ reward, so he didn’t want to take advantage of the dragons and get into trouble.
Furthermore, if he really took on the Giant Dragon Tribe, it was like putting his name on the line. Before he knew it, he might lose everything he owns…
One had to understand that the game prioritized balance. There was no way the system could allow such a strong tribe to fall in the hands of a single player. These middle-aged men’s words were definitely a huge trap.
The game > was filled with traps. Quests tested players’ values and morals.
It was alright to take advantage of small benefits. However, one could never get too greedy. This was based on Wang Yu’s bloody experiences with the NPCs.
The Hermit said this before. Wang Yu didn’t have enough natural charisma. Whenever he took on a quest, it’d be one level harder than others. How could he obtain such a great benefit?
As expected, seeing that Wang Yu rejected his offer, Manda and the others let out a long sigh of relief. They hurriedly added, “If that’s the case, we won’t force you. However, our Giant Dragon Tribe will swear friendship to you, brave warrior.”
[Giant Dragon Tribe’s Friend (Title)]
[Dragon’s Halo: Giant Dragon Tribe’s Favorability +100]

…
The Dragon’s Halo’s effect looked pretty useless. It didn’t add any attributes other than favorability…
This item was completely useless outside Dragon Island.
However, for fun’s sake, it was better than getting nothing. At least, with this title, the Silver Dragon Gatekeepers wouldn’t chase him away like before.
“What would have happened if I accepted your offer?” After looking at the title, Wang Yu asked cheekily.
“Haha!” Manda smiled, “Our beloved emperor Dales will treat you as an enemy and the entire Giant Dragon Tribe will assassinate you at all costs…”
“Don’t you feel guilty setting up a trap like this?”
Wang Yu rubbed away a trail of sweat as he asked this.
Even though he knew this from the start, the NPC’s affirmation made chills run down Wang Yu’s back.
“No!” Manda smiled, “This is our job…”
See that? That was how shameless game developers were. They actually set NPCs’ jobs as scamming the players… Why would they do that? Thankfully, Wang Yu was meticulous. If it were a different person, they’d be in deep trouble…
All of a sudden, Wang Yu dived straight into the topic. “I won’t talk about anything unnecessary. The reason I brought the Dragon Emperor’s Token is because I have something to ask of you.”
“Brave Warrior Iron Bull, please ask. The Dragon Emperor Token has the same authority as my beloved emperor. Your problem is our problem.” Manda patted his chest as he reassured this.
It seemed like this old man was very happy that Wang Yu didn’t choose to take over the Giant Dragon Tribe. His tone changed completely…
Of course, it could be because Wang Yu’s favorability with Giant Dragons had increased by 150…
Before this, what was Wang Yu’s title? Dragon Slayer… his favorability with Giant Dragon Tribes had always been negative.
Now, they treated him with respect and admiration. It was reasonable to expect a complete change from the Giant Dragon Tribe’s attitude to Wang Yu.
“That…” Wang Yu pointed at Prairie Fire and the others, “My friends and I have come here to complete a quest. I would like to ask Elder Manda for another chance…”
“Oh? What quest?” Manda asked curiously.
“Hey, Elder Manda is asking what quest it is…”
Wang Yu turned to look at Prairie Fire.
“Can… can we?”
If they weren’t in the midst of everyone right now, Prairie Fire was more than ready to give Wang Yu a huge kowtow.
Godd*mn, what did it mean to be an amazing person? Even though Prairie Fire played the game for so long, he had never seen this happen.
Taking the backdoor, making use of interpersonal relations, and finally forcefully extending the quest… could you really do this in the game?
“Why not?” Wang Yu continued proudly, “I’ve bought a quest before too.”
“That’s insane…” Prairie Fire shot Wang Yu a huge thumbs-up as the situation turned.
“It’s all because of the game’s teachings…” With that, Wang Yu reminisced a little about the days he was a pure, innocent young man. After all those harsh times, he turned into an old veteran.
“Here’s my invitation…”
Prairie Fire walked to Manda and handed his invitation over.
“Holy Demon Armament Blueprints…” When Manda saw Prairie Fire’s invitation, he responded reluctantly, “Someone else has taken on this quest… I don’t think I can offer this quest to you…”
“Brother Bull…” Prairie Fire stared at Wang Yu in disappointment.
In return, Wang Yu stared at Manda. Manda hurriedly added, “Of course, if it’s my great friend, the brave warrior, Iron Bull, I can work something out…”

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
