《Psycho X Psychic 》Chapter 45: Let the SSDA Handle Him
Advertisement
Since night has already arrived, the sixteen times weakness recoil Clade received from using his Spirit ended.
This made him so happy, he almost turned a new leaf. But seeing Hanon, that was stopped.
And just as Hanon said, his bodily functions just returned. Even a piece of medical equipment that pumps his blood was there.
Looking around, Clade almost wanted to die as he computed the medical bills after this. Of course, he would be using his own money. Being a top mobster doesn't mean he had unlimited money.
As compensation, Hanon would pay half of it.
"All of it, you bastard...!"
"Actually, since I'm a bastard, I don't feel like paying half of it anymore."
"Ah... my friend. I'm just... joking..."
Hanon nodded. After which, his face turned solemn before explaining what happened.
"If I chose to help you, I, at least, would die. But look at us, we're both alive."
Although Hanon speaks the truth, Clade was still furious. However, what can he do? He could only swallow his grief and be thankful that he's alive.
"You better make up... for this."
"Sure, sure. Rest first. Once the sun comes out, you would be weakened again. Although not as much, still not negligible."
Clade wanted to laugh.
"It sounds like you... care for me..."
Hanon didn't answer and continued playing the game on his phone. This made Clade groan in anger again.
Recalling what happened, he then stared at the ceiling and said.
"Hanon... report Teren Hark to the SSDA."
"!!" Hanon almost dropped his phone, "Sorry, I heard something stupid. Can you repeat that again?"
"Grr... report Teren Hark to the SSDA."
"Clade... you reported him?"
"Last night."
Sipping in a sharp breath through his teeth, Hanon palmed his face out of dismay.

"Clade, why are you this stupid? There is a chance the SSDA will track you. The more someone reports, the larger their database would be. You will be dooming us they call 'Aberrants' here in this city."
"Before Teren Hark kills us, it would be good if they kill him too. At the very least, we have a chance against the SSDA. But against Teren Hark..."
Hanon stopped. He had yet to ask since Clade was just recovering. Now that he can talk smoothly, Clade is already recovering under the moonlight.
Gulping, Hanon then asked.
"What happened to the fight?"
Clade slowly blinked. He hated to admit it but it is the truth so he answered.
"It wasn't a fight. I didn't even know if he used one Spirit against me."
"No, his Spirit should be the detection of malicious intent towards him. That's what got us into this situation."
"Do you think he just has one Spirit?" Clade rolled his eyes towards Hanon.
"..."
"As for me, I think he had more. Those fearless eyes... they did not stem from ignorance nor confidence. For him, I was nothing. Hanon, only if the SSDA's attention is focused on him do we have a chance to kill him. As for us, the SSDA wouldn't mind that much."
"That's subjective. I don't think you have that good sight to see someone's fearlessness, Clade, you're not that wise." Hanon shrugged his shoulders but both he and Clade knew that he is scared of Teren.
"Hah... if you want objective evidence, I've got one. Hanon, do you think you have a chance against my sixteen times of power?"
"You're already risking your own life in that form. I can defeat you but a large percentage is that I'm also dead." Hanon honestly said.

"I know, but that guy... he didn't even break a single sweat."
"..." Hanon frowned at him, "You're joking."
Clade wanted to laugh, "I am not. I don't know why he didn't kill me but I wouldn't be so sure the next time. Unless, we three generals, together with the boss gang up to him, we have no chance. No, actually, I don't know. The Devil Himself, after all, obliterated the whole Handwing Gang."
"That's a different matter. And how he did it, we have no knowledge."
"But it is still true our lives are in danger. So what do you want, escape? Leave the Spectra Gang? Running in fear that the Devil Himself might be in the shadows any moment?"
"So... we should depend on the SSDA?"
"Your choice, I've already made mine."
Hanon fell into deep contemplation but a moment later, the SSDA received another report. From a different source and location. This one has a more detailed report but the report is still about the same person.
"The Devil Himself again?"
Zack stared at the screen. Behind him, Seres read and confirmed that there are no lies on it.
"That confirms it. Give me a detailed report about the current Teren Hark. His address, status, everything."
Her polite demeanor had already disappeared, giving her a superior look which should be as her position entails.
"Right away, Lady Seres." Zack and his team then searched every department about Teren Hark.
But in the end...
"None... there are no records."
"What do you mean there are no records? From the report, it says that he is a student at Mershen High. Did you look at the school records, at least?" Seres pointed.
"No, there is no student named Teren Hark there."
"Maybe this is really a troll. It's only been two reports. It can be just two affiliated Aberrants." Fey joined the conversation, however, Seres was not satisfied.
"Just tell me the location of this school. I know his face, even after so many years, I doubt that he changed so much."
"But Lady Seres, we cannot act until we file permission to the main branch. Only when they permit us can we move. After all, there is no emergency so we can't move on our own." Zack replied.
"Tsk!" Seres clicked her tongue, "Then I will personally go there. Is that possible?"
"..." the people looked at each other before Fey replied.
"It's possible. Condigns such as yourself, Lady Seres, have that much freedom. However, that is if you are guarded and have your Spirits restrained first. The SSDA can't let any supernatural surface on the public or we will all face punishment."
"I don't need guards, you can restrain my Spirits. Just give me a gun."
"W-why?"
"Self-defense." Seres replied.

Journey West 5000
With her parents murdered and her brother abducted, a trainee Monk of the Gun pursues the one responsible, the Bull Demon King, undefeated Warlord of the Crimson Army.Struggling to track down her enemy while braving the dangers of the wilds, she enlists the help of Sun Wukong, but 500 years under a mountain have taken its toll. Unstable and weakened, will he be more hindrance than help? Can he become the warrior he once was?A Monk and a Monkey journey across a world...... where the remnants of technology are seen as magic, while pockets of humanity strive to drag themselves out of ignorance.... where the descendants of animal-human hybrids, once created as instruments of war, now seek to dominate the world as demons.... where beings who call themselves Immortals and Gods preoccupy themselves with selfish pastimes, ignoring everything else. Among other things, a story about growth, grit, and being better than the person you were yesterday. Here's my rambling on why I'm writing Journey West 5000. Journey West 5000 is my crazy ambitious writing project to adapt a classic epic called "Journey to the West" for a global, modern audience. It's a sci-fi story disguised as fantasy, and has some road trip + monster of the week elements (as does the original Journey to the West). No system, definitely no harem, gradual power progression. Hmm, what else can I put here so potential readers know what to expect? My writing style for now is mostly "show don't tell", because I believe that readers don't need to have everything pointed out to them, and that they should be allowed to make up their own minds about characters based on the actions of those characters. I'm also trying to be less long-winded (a weakness pointed out by some friends) in order to write according to something Neil Gaiman said, which is to write as though I'm the one who has to pay for every word, not the reader. This will bring down my chapter word counts, and might drive away potential readers, but I believe there's value in learning to compress and be concise. All chapters posted here will have been edited. Constructive criticism, comments, and feedback would be very much welcome and appreciated. Please, please help point out any typos or grammatical mistakes, I'm striving to minimize those as much as possible. Above all, I hope you enjoy my story.

Unwitting Champion
"In stories this is always easy. There's magic and powers, and quick steps to claiming that power for one's self. This doesn't feel true for me. I'm supposed to be a Champion, whatever that means, and yet I don't feel important. I don't have all the bells and whistles, which honestly feels familiar even in a new world. But what was I expecting? I haven't had the worst life - there are people with worse problems than mine - I've known what it is to struggle, to be pulled down instead of being helped up.This is nothing new."When in great peril, the Kingdom of Althor has no choice but to send a call into the void, beseeching the Fates to bring them a man who would save them from the coming darkness. Unfortunately the path the Fates chart is often unknowable to men and the Champion who appears is not what the kingdom expected.Unwitting Champion is a story of a guy displaced, dealing first and foremost with trying to survive in a world where he is no longer a person but a tool, and - at least from the reaction of those around him - a shoddy one at that. His major goal is to survive long enough that either he can run or find a way home, because as exciting as the possibility of learning magic might be, he would rather have a boring life than a short life.
