《I Have A Martial Arts Panel》Chapter 47: Chief Manager

'There are spies in the camp?'
Xu Ning suddenly thought about the fact that Dayuan Trading Company had used the city guards in the camp to deliver him Qinglu Dans.
Although Qu Dayou intervened in the end, this also meant that the opponents could easily infiltrate the camp.
'However, what is the point of having spies here…'
Camp Site Three was just a camp for newcomers. What secrets could there be?
Xu Ning was a little puzzled.
He wanted to ask Qu Dayou, but suddenly Xu Ning remembered that Tao Qingping told him two days ago that starting from next year, the newcomers in Camp Site Three would receive reduced patrol hours, and would instead begin military battle practice.
'Could it be that Cai Qinghan and Qu Dayou are going to directly fight against each other?'
After connecting the dots between the spies and the military preparation exercises together, Xu Ning had some vague guesses in mind.
Xu Ning did not ask any more questions. These were the higher-level plans of Qu Dayou and others. It was better not to be involved.
"Xu Ning, step up your inspections in Maple Lane over the next few days. If you notice any abnormalities, please report it to me as soon as possible."
Qu Dayou said.
Xu Ning cupped his fists and said, "Understood, master."
Although he didn't know what Qu Dayou planned to do against Dayuan Trading Company, he knew that something was happening soon.
"You should go and rest."
Qu Dayou stood up from his seat. "I want to interrogate the person stalking you."
…
Late at night.
Dayuan Trading Company.
In the dimly lit room, only a handful of candle-lit flames were burning on the table.
The flame was so weak that it could barely illuminate the room.
Yu Xinghe, the Deputy Manager of Dayuan Trading Company, stood by the table with a worried look on his face.
At the table in front of him, a man who was about 50 years old was sitting on a chair, his fingers tapping the table lightly. The tapping sound echoed in the large room.
This man was Duan Yihe, the Chief Manager of Dayuan Trading Company.
"It's been so long, but he still hasn't come back…"
Duan Yihe glanced at the moonlight outside the house, his voice quiet.
Yu Xinghe was obviously anxious, as sweat was oozing from his forehead.

"Chief Manager… this is all my fault…"
Although Yu Xinghe was only one rank lower than Duan Yihe, he seemed extremely nervous in front of Duan Yihe.
"I was just thinking, the new shipments are about to leave soon, but Qu Dayou and Xia Yuanxing are putting up a tough stance. I suspect they have caught some new information…"
"So I sent Hui Jiu to stalk Xu Ning. After all, Xu Ning stays at Maple Lane all day. I'm afraid he has noticed something…"
"Idiot!"
Before Yu Xinghe's words could finish, Duan Yihe slapped the table.
Yu Xinghe did not dare to breathe.
"It's okay to stalk him, but why did you send Hui Jiu!"
The calmness on Duan Yihe's face disappeared, and it was instead replaced by extreme anger. "Hui Jiu knows what happened between us and them. Once he falls into the hands of Qu Dayou and exposes our secrets, we will suffer! If this happens, Cai Qinghan won't be able to protect us, he might even kill us himself! Even the Yunying City headquarters will abandon us!"
Yu Xinghe was already sweating. "I sent Hui Jiu there because there was no one more suitable. Everyone was busy arranging the delivery routes, and only Hui Jiu was available… I think he has a strong body and has good experience, he can definitely…"
Slam!
Duan Yihe picked up the oil lamp and threw it at Yu Xinghe's forehead.
Blood was flowing out of Yu Xinghe's forehead, but he didn't dare to cry out in pain at all.
The oil lamp rolled to the ground, and the room plunged into darkness.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
There were footsteps.
The door was pushed open and a figure walked into the darkness.
He picked up the oil lamp and lit it again, and the room was once again bright.
The man was wearing all black. He had dark circles under his eyes and long hair. There was a clear smirk on his face.
"Have you heard?"
Duan Yihe looked at the man coldly.
The man in black was expressionless as he nodded.
After a pause, the man in black said, "If the situation is troublesome, we can postpone the delivery time."
Duan Yihe didn't immediately respond to the man in black. He took a look at Yu Xinghe first.
There was a thoughtful look in his eyes, as if he was making some kind of decision.

"No need, we can continue with the shipment."
Duan Yihe's mood seemed to calm down, and his tone of voice also eased.
"Are you sure there is no problem? This is just one delivery. What's important is your stable supply of goods."
The man in black seemed doubtful.
Duan Yihe didn't speak. He just walked to the window and looked at Kangyun County City under the moonlight.
He had spent more than 20 years here to grow his roots.
A look of reminiscence appeared in Duan Yihe's eyes.
30 years ago, the Source Faction began to control all regions.
With the gradual stabilization of State Feiyun, an era of peace arrived. Everyone knew that people's livelihood would gradually recover over the next few decades.
As one of the major trading companies in Yunying City, Dayuan Trading Company dispatched many subordinates to occupy huge markets in other areas of State Feiyun.
Duan Yihe left Yunying City and was sent to Kangyun County.
When he was in Yunying City, he was just a small assistant. He wanted to use this opportunity to rise up.
However, Dayuan Trading Company was not the only organization that wanted to occupy the State Feiyun market, other trading companies were thinking the same thing too.
After arriving in Kangyun County, Duan Yihe discovered that someone had already made the first step and had established a good relationship with the Black Armored Guards.
In order to squeeze their opponent out of Kangyun County, Duan Yihe used the help from a third party.
The third party was strong, and Duan Yihe successfully achieved his goal.
The opponent kept having supply problems and was eventually pushed out of the market. Then, Dayuan Trading Company began to gradually control the business operations in Kangyun County and even the surrounding counties.
Duan Yihe went from a low-level figure to a big businessman in Kangyun County.
Later on, when the Black Armored Guards changed, he was able to make connections with Cai Qinghan, and with the help of Cai Qinghan, he became one of the most powerful men in Kangyun County.
Duan Yihe looked glamorous to outsiders, but Duan Yihe himself knew well that there was a sharp sword hanging above his head—his safety was always in danger.
Because the third party he received help from was a Magic Faction!
Thirty years ago, the Source Faction defeated all factions in State Feiyun and became the strongest faction, taking over control of State Feiyun.
However, 300 years after the collapse of the previous dynasty, chaos had overrun the state. Although the Source Faction controlled the entire State Feiyun, there were still legacy forces.
Over the past 30 years, the Source Faction had stepped up their control over all areas of State Feiyun, while also insisting on suppressing the remaining forces that disrupted their stability.
While facing the pressure of Source Faction, various big and small Magic Factions disappeared.
The so-called Magic Factions referred to the sects that practiced magic arts.
Magic techniques were different from traditional techniques. Most of their practice was at the expense of others. If a magic technique were successful, innocent people would die for it.
Because magic techniques were quick-acting, there would always be warriors with poor work ethic that were willing to take the risks.
At the same time, this kind of speed had also led to the gradual fixation of practitioners towards magic techniques.
And once they were successful, they would create more bloody incidents to further strengthen themselves.
State Feiyun was striving to create a stable situation, so these Magic Factions must be eliminated.
The Source Faction issued an order long ago that those who practiced magic techniques and colluded with the remaining Magic Factions would be punished by death.
Duan Yihe took the risks and chose the magic path.
But right now, he was about to bear the consequences of his actions.
Duan Yihe's eyes looked away from the windows. He had a firm look on his face.
"Xinghe…"
Duan Yihe looked at him. "Excuse yourself…"
"Chief Manager…"
Yu Xinghe was puzzled. He looked at Duan Yihe with a confused look.
"I will find Cai Qinghan and sort out Hui Jiu."
Duan Yihe stepped forward and patted Yu Xinghe on the shoulder.
"But Hui Jiu might have fallen into Qu Dayou's hands after all…"
Yu Xinghe was still very worried. "Once Hui Jiu fails to keep the secret, then even Captain Cai…"
"Don't worry, I have my own methods."
Duan Yihe's tone was firm. "However, you can't make this kind of mistake again."
When Yu Xinghe looked at Duan Yihe's expression, he finally had some confidence in his heart.
"Don't worry Chief Manager, I will be more careful!"
Yu Xinghe quickly said.
"Go back and rest. You have to wake up and work early tomorrow morning."
Duan Yihe looked at Yu Xinghe leaving and his gaze gradually became cold.

The Stars Have Eyes
The universe was a vast, empty, dark, and uncaring place. Then life happened, and the universe was changed forever. Only a teeny-tiny bit, but definitely different. Then again, the universe changes a teeny-tiny bit every second of every day. For instance, if someone were to get off the couch and randomly drink a glass of milk? Bam! One less glass of milk in the universe. Changed forever. Well, excluding any time-travel shenanigans, but anyone who puts a big old hole in the time-space continuum just to un-drink a glass of milk should really reevaluate their priorities. Unless, of course, they were attempting to prevent some massive catastrophe vis-a-vis said glass of milk. Such a scenario is by no means impossible, as one should never underestimate the importance of calcium. Another important tip for any life forms out there is to keep things in perspective. Some look at the vastness of creation in relation to themselves and go, ‘Man, this sucks!’ These people really need to narrow their focus. Sure, they will never affect anything happening on the other end of the galaxy, but so what? That’s way the heck over there, where it doesn’t matter. Therefore, in order to maintain a healthy mindset, it is important to narrow one’s perspective to the things and people that affect them, and that they can affect in turn. But what happens if one is an unfathomable cosmic being from beyond the veil of reality? What happens when such an existence is capable of influencing entire swathes of the universe just by its presence? A creature such as Magh'rathlak the Observer? That particular entity is only about average as far as reality-warping creatures from the dawn of time go, so its influence over the fabric of reality is rather limited. And it still struggles to keep things in perspective. That, among other things, is why it decided to narrow its worldview a bit by compressing the maddening vastness of its being into a single corporeal form. Magh'rathlak had never tried such a feat, but that wasn't about to stop it. After all, how hard could being human possibly be?

Sarsaparilla's Scary Super Power. Completed
Sarsaparilla is an older teenage girl living on Mars. And, like many other young people around her, she has a super power. Or, rather, she is supposed to have a super power. Only she has never been able to activate it, she doesn’t even know what her super power is. This annoys her, tremendously. But she hides this behind a really sweet smile. Adalace is another teenage girl, also on Mars. She knows what her own super power is, and it is quite a good one. She is also really cute… so long has she keeps her feelings under control and doesn’t let out anything from her dark past. Teylon is a man, currently living on Earth. He likes to think of himself as still young, even if he is over fifty. He’s a bit smug about his successful career and is thinking of retiring… until a sadly unfortunate event leads him to the conclusion that he had better immigrate to Mars. Immediately. Apparently, meeting one’s own Angel of Death tends to cause people to make profound changes to their lives… Mars society had better brace itself, because once these three people, plus another three also not so quite stable individuals, collide with each other, the resulting explosion is not going to leave anyone on Mars unaffected. This is another Esmeralda, the Angel of Death, story. It follows on from my previous two such stories, but it is in no way dependent on the previous stories. They can be read in any order. It is fully written and proof read (using Word for Windows, no real editor touched this transcript) and comes to about 247,000 words (about 895 Royal Road pages). It is organized into 50 chapters and I will be publishing them roughly one per day. In my writing, there are multiple characters and multiple points of view. Each change in a point of view is introduced by a header, giving the viewpoint character’s name first, and possibly a title. Inside a Point of View section, dialog in italics represents the Point of View character’s thoughts, while dialog between quotes represent normal spoken dialog. This story is very much inspired by the anime A Certain Scientific Railgun. However I have only taken some elements from the anime, and changed everything I took to make my own story, and so it does not count as fanfiction. Yeah, I know, the book cover page isn’t very good. It’s the best I could do, by tracing over a stock image. The two ladies shown are supposed to be Adalace and Sarsaparilla. Ideally I would have liked there to be two images of this pair, one where they are smiling sweetly and looking cute, and one where they are looking really angry and dangerous. But that totally exceeds my graphics abilities. You will just have to imagine it.
