《I'm the King Of Technology 》Chapter 1022: Protection

F***!
What do they do now?
Everyone felt a wave of fear slowly inched its way into their hearts.
And coupled with the darkness all around them, they felt genuinely helpless.
Whether it was day or night, the hallways always remained dark unless one moved with a flaming torch by them.
Of course, there were always unlit touches against the walls that typically got lit once in a while.
But since the entire ship was made of wood, no one played like that.
If the ship burned, they all drowned. That's why torches were only lit when need be.
Plus, the eye patches help them adjust from day to night when they move in and out, back and forth the deck.
Be it pirates or even merchants, they all covered one eye with a black scarf or eye patch from time to time.
This way, the light and changes don't just blind them all at once... Especially when running out to face an enemy.
Soon, it wasn't long until they heard loud footsteps calmly walking down.
Mommy?
.
Everyone tightened their grip on their swords while waiting for the enemy to show up.
There was no greater fear than knowing you're going to die but feeling helpless and weak with no way to stop it.
Yara and her team slowly walked down the creaking stairs with their guns in their hands.
There was no way to be completely silent on these sorts of floors.
It creaked too damn loud.
Even the walls creaked when one touched them.
Yara took in a large whiff of air and slowly breathed out before gesturing for a few marines to step closer.
It was completely dark now, so the enemies shouldn't be able to see them.
Nonetheless, in a wave of panic, the enemies night try shooting their swords or weapons towards them in fright.

So the first thing they needed to do was momentarily affect their enemies.
Previously when fighting in that tiny room, the enemies didn't even have time or the chance to do so.
But now, along this long hallway, it shouldn't be a stretch for them.
Without wasting any time, they instantly threw stun grenades forward that released an intensive loud 'bang' and an overly blinding flash that froze their enemies still.
Because the dragias felt as if their ears were about to explode, before finally getting deaf momentarily.
Not to talk of the fact that they were rendered blind and confused while feeling a loss of combination and balance, wobbling around with no thoughts in their minds.
Honestly, they forgot what it was they were doing and briefly took on the role of mindless zombies.
Good.
Without wasting any time, Yara and her team swooped in, shooting them down in the head.
.
~Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!~~
Plop.
It didn't take long for the entire hallway to be swept clean.
Of course, those who locked themselves in the cabins or rooms with tenor ears on the doors were more helpless than ever.
Wasn't that the sound of thunder coming from the hallway?
The scariest thing was that even though they heard people drop to the ground, they didn't hear the screams.
So what happened?
Of course within some of the rooms, people didn't waste any time bursting through the floor and jumping down onto the floors below.
Some created holes on the walls, making windows.
With the formation very tight.
They tried their best to jump onto the next ships and stab their daggers into the wooden walls, hoping to climb up onto the decks and flee.
Now, everyone wanted to dash towards the ships at the central regions of the formation.

Some even wanted to get aboard the ships belonging to the Primates.
And by the time Yara and her team burst through the doors, the smart ones had fled the ship, while the others either jumped or hid in the same rooms.
Each cabin or room had people thinking in their own ways.
Okay?...
Yara didn't know how to feel seeing this.
Were they so scary?
Just surrendering will keep these people alive.
So why go through all this?
She even saw someone who had accidentally fallen into the water below.
Sigh...
.
~Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!~
They ended swiftly killing all enemies on the ships, with none willing to surrender... Especially when they realized that it was a woman who was leading the group.
Some felt that it was too humiliating and demeaning.
So they preferred death.
Yara quickly contacted Ruby and her rescue team, who were now waiting on the deck.
And just like that, they broke the chained slaves, found a few enemies amongst them and took them out too.
Yara and her team just cleared the first floor below the deck and left Ruby's team to deal with the other floors and free the prisoners.
From there, Yara and her gang jumped onto the next ship, ready for action yet again.
The heavy machine guns on the battleships stopped firing, and now, many of the Navy officers stayed aboard the battleships assisting the slaves and ensuring that the enemy remained trapped.
At the same time, other Marine Companies still aboard the towering battleships acted as snipers, as they did their best to take down those on the 3rd and 4th inner lines of defence.
~Peeup! Peeup! Peeup! ~
The enemies within these inner lines started dropping to the ground silently, confusing the other dragias when they saw no arrows on the fallen.
Soon, a few realized the matter and almost peed themselves.
Wasn't this too supernatural?
"Run! Run! They have sorcerers with them!"
"Run! They have mysterious beasts with them!"
"Everyone, head below deck! These creatures can only kill us if we are under the sun!"
"Screw this! I'm heading towards the center for protection!"
"Yes! If we stay close to the Primates, then we should be safe! They are the most blessed people amongst us. So Dragmus will descend and create a miracle once we stay with them!"
(°∆°)
...
The entire place went crazy, as some either ran towards the lower decks or continuously leaped towards the 8th inner line, which was the center.
Jimosen and Linvor looked at the scene before them in a daze.
Why?
Why was this happening?
Were they going to stay here and await death?
No!
They had to come up with something, and fast!

Alive?
In the ruins of a once glorious city, a mage awakens. As the sole survivor(?) of the cataclysm that destroyed his entire species, he’s forced to adapt. While learning the intricacies of his new body, he must first carve out a place for himself in a familiar yet foreign world before he can set out to reclaim his heritage. I cannot stress this enough: the character is not human, do not expect him to react like one. I know the hand on the cover only has five finger, but I doubt I am going to find a royalty free radiography with two perfectly functional thumbs placed in a sensible way anytime soon. The rewrite is finished. Beta readers are welcomed and I am still wondering whether I should put the sci-fi tag or not.

The Curio Shoppe
Kellan Klein is an ordinary college student with an average, if traumatic and painful past. Everyone grows up grappling with depression and anxiety that seem to be genetic in a house with parents that, while loving, fight all the time and have weird ideas about what kids should and shouldn't do, right? Everyone deals with bullying, racism, judgement on their romantic inclinations and their family's economic status and just general shittiness, right? All of Kellan's friends sure did, and for all of them, entertaiment media were a welcome escape from their painful, dreary lives. After all, who wouldn't want to sail the seas with Monkey D. Luffy and the Strawhats, or help Meng Hao con increasingly powerful and influential people, or join Cecil Harvey and his friends on their weird journey to save the world, or make friends with Peter Parker while pretending to not know he was everyone's favorite wall-crawling superhero? Kellan certainly wanted to, and while he pursued college to seek out a career he saw himself enjoying, something felt inexplicably empty about his life. So when a decidely sinister force kidnaps him and the prettiest man he's ever seen saves his life and offers him his wildest dreams, Kellan becomes the shopkeeper of a mysterious, dimension hopping shop, complete with a system that helps him acquire items. abilities, materials, and other cool shit to stock it with, as well as some other neat perks. Will Kellan become a boring overpowered MC, like the kind from web fiction that he reads to sate his boredom? Will he keep his generally kind, sweet nature despite the shit he's gone through and will go through, or will he inexplicably become a scary, violent, irrational arrogant douchebag? Will he use his newfound abilities to explore the multiverse and improve the lives of himself and others, or will he become his own antithesis, a purely mercantile jerk obsessed with money and profit, with no concern for anything that doesn't help or hurt his business? Find out in The Curio Shoppe! Author's note: Please suggest possible setting he could visit in the comments. I'll gather ones i'm familiar with, and at the end of every arc, a poll will be held to decide the next location he visits. There will be polls for other purposes, and I might not always go with the poll winner if I feel one of the other options is more fun to read/write about. I will not use the settings of other RRL writers without their permission.Do not ask for that, unless the author in question gives permission. Most settings he visits will be slightly AU in some way or another, but please remind me if I drift too far from canon unintentionally or characterize a character wrongly. This work will eventually fit all tags I selected once he visits universes suited to those tags, so don't ask when or where a given tag is coming. I do not own the cover art, it belongs to Nicholas Belanger Thiel, and I will stop using it if he asks me to. Kellan doesn't look like the old man on the cover, though once he acquires a disguise-type ability he may occasionally use that appearance. The tapir, however, will be a thing, as despite looking like a failed attempt at an elephant, tapirs are cool and this dragon finds them to be kinda cute. The art, along with more of Nicholas's pieces, can be found at https://www.artstation.com/artwork/51bXz

This is a parallel story, that runs alongside my other novel: Rejection. But is written very differently.

THIRTEEN (Evie's Perspective)
This is the 2003 movie, Thirteen, told from the perspective of Evie Zamora. We got Tracy's point of view, but what about Evie? Why did she do the things she did?I've seen a few different interpretations of Evie's perspective and I decided to give it a go. This is how I think Evie thought and the reasons behind why she did the things she did. This is NOT canon, just a fanfiction, and I am not affiliated with Thirteen or Catherine Hardwick in any way.
