《Harry Potter: Blood of the Dragon 》Chapter 104: Back To School

1st January 1972.
The New Years celebration went very well. They partied a lot and slept very well. The next morning, they got onboard their flight and returned to Britain.
Magnus had already received the full payment for the diamonds and coins. The money was in his Dragon Holdings company account. Magnus, though, paid full tax on it, the reason was simple, he was going to be the king in the future and as he would be appearing out of nowhere, he would be under public scrutiny.
At that point, he can proudly claim that he has contributed to the country by paying so much tax while the real billionaires were hiding their money. Though he will never let it go public that he sold a diamond.
But Magnus was still able to minimise the tax by a little by showing business expenses. Such as his travelling, meeting the king, food and other things.
He wanted to have more fun, but his holidays were coming to an end now. He needed to go back to Hogwarts the next day. But, before that, he needed to shift with his family into the new house.
As soon as they reached 10 Privet Drive, Magnus called Abe and George. "Have you shifted all the stuff?"
"Yes, sir. As you instructed, we have shifted all the items to your new home. We have also cleaned the place. This place is also now ready to be rented." George told him.
Magnus nodded and looked back at his family who had just entered the now-empty home, "Mum, dad. I had told them to prepare for moving. We can now go directly to the new home and start living there."
This was like a New Year's surprise. Adam nodded, "Let's go then. It seems they did not move our car."
"AH! By cars, I remembered the cars I bought. Dad, except for the two old vintage cars, you can use the Ferrari. There is also the Range Rover. You should sell these old cars." Magnus suggested them.
Hearing about the Ferrari, Adam got excited. He would gladly use the car. Grace, though, could use the Range Rover.
Their new mansion was half an hour away from where they stayed right now.
"I will be going back to Hogwarts tomorrow. Then I'll return in two-month-long summer break. I think it starts from July 1st." Magnus said while they were in the car.
"Take care, Magnus and you too Ragnar. Who knows what the Royal family might do this time." She worriedly said.
But, instead, Magnus was more worried about her and Adam. He and Ragnar were both Wizards and could somewhat protect themselves, but Grace and Adam were muggles. Even simple magic could fatally harm them.
"You too, mum and dad. I will be in school, but you two will have more possibility of being harmed. I will leave behind some magical items that you must wear at all times. Promise me." Magnus demanded.
Seeing him so serious, they quickly agreed. "Yes dear, we will wear them. Promise."

Then Ragnar spoke, "And I will be leaving a potion for you. It can keep you healthy, safe from any disease and keep your body younger than it should be."
This was something Grace appreciated very much, every woman wanted to stay in their prime after all.
Soon, they arrived at the door of the new house. The electric doors opened and they drove in the driveway. Abe and George were waiting for them there. They had even packed Chad and Summer and brought them here. Both of them were in the midst of exploring this huge new place.
"I hope some people don't find it troublesome how two military folks could afford such luxury. How will I ever explain that it's my son's?" Adam wondered loudly.
"Simple, just say that it's a family-run business that made you rich. Anyway, I don't think the queen would be foolish enough to attempt something again against you. She knows she has already angered me once. From her letter, she seemed to be uneased. What I am worried about are her family members who don't understand their situation completely." Magnus deduced.
"I hope you are right. Anyway, let's go inside and eat something. I will cook a good dinner today. Tomorrow you two will be leaving so just tell me whatever you want to eat." Grace proposed.
"PANCAKES!..." Magnus shouted.
"ROASTED CHICKEN!..." Ragnar did the same.
Magnus turned to Ragnar and put his hand on his shoulder, "My dear friend, we get to eat that in Hogwarts every day. Mum makes the best pancakes in the world, this is exclusive stuff."
"Hmph!" Ragnar pushed his hand away and said, "And she makes the best Roasted Chicken too. The spices she put on it are the best I've ever eaten."
There was a war of gaze going on between them.
"Haha... cool down, my two princesses. I will make both." Grace laughingly said as she ruffled their heads.
Magnus grunted in annoyance, "AH! You spoiled my hair. Just wait, mum, I will soon be taller than you."
"Then I will stand on a table and then ruffle your hair." She replied and went inside the new house, leaving behind a defeated Magnus.
But Magnus didn't really follow back inside. He needed to charm the hell out of this whole mansion so that even a fly can't slip in and harm his parents.
Ragnar also stayed back and said he needed to put some runes on some flower pots. What they were supposed to do was to start making loud police siren noise as soon as the house was in danger.
Magnus, on the other hand, put the Fire Wards on the boundary of the whole property. So that no Wizard with ill intention can get inside due to intense fire blocking his way.
But, he wanted to do something extra. So, he quickly sent Abraham to Camelot to bring in 50 bows. Magnus made some slight changes to it and created an automated, intent-based trigger system. The arrows would come out at great speed at the attacker. Not only that, Ragnar gave his personally made highly potent poison to apply on the arrows. What does the Poison do? It melts the brain and makes it come out of the nose in a gooey texture. A very painful death

They spent their whole evening until dinner to put charms and wards wherever they could. Cars, clothes, watches, their uniforms.
Also, the house elfs, Abe and George were going to stay there and would provide security.
After they were done, they went in to have a good meal, then they went swimming in the indoor pool. It even had a heating system and Magnus loved it. Eventually, he was able to drag his parents too.
So they had fun playing in the swimming pool. After that, all of them sat in the living room, in front of the fireplace, drinking a cup of hot chocolate each.
Magnus read the newspaper to know what was going on in the country. It was important to know as the future king.
Soon, his eyes fell on the headline and he got confused. Looking at his dad, he asked.
"Hmm, what is this European Economic Community EEC? Why do we want to join it?" Magnus questioned.
Adam answered, "It's an organisation that started in 1951. With the aim of ending the frequent and bloody wars between neighbours, which culminated in the Second World War. It was an idea to unite Europe so closely that it may never inflict damage on one another."
"Then why didn't we join it all this time? Why now?" Ragnar asked further.
Adam continued, "Because we were the proud winners of the war. We were living with the idea that our greatness would return. We were still living in the false sense of glory from the British empire days. But now, as our economy is in a bad stage and inflation is on the rise, the government has been looking to join it.
"Initially, when the EEC was created we were expected to join. But now, we were denied entry 2 times by France and only now we're allowed."
Magnus understood it. It was like a group, made of countries with similar interests.
"I will have to study more about it it seems." He decided.
"Okay, enough playing around. Time for bed or you two won't be able to wake up in the morning." Grace quickly pushed them to their rooms and tucked them into their beds.
"Do you need me to tell stories?" She jokingly asked.
Magnus chuckled, "Hehe, I'm not so little now, mum."
"Oh, for me you will always be little. Goodnight now." She switched off the lights and left.
Magnus stared at the ceiling of the new home. He took a long breath.
"You there Merlin?" He asked.
"We're always here, not like we have anywhere to go." Merlin's voice came from the portrait.
"How did you do such a bad job at uniting the wizarding world?" Magnus suddenly asked.
*Cough*
Merlin coughed in embarrassment. If Arthur was not sleeping he would have started laughing by now.
"Well, in those days, Wizards and all magical communities lived so far away that it was impossible for me to meet all of them. But now, all of them are close to each other but even more divided." Merlin dejectedly stated.
"Then how can I achieve that? True equality..." Magnus asked.
"With strength. I see in you a great untapped potential, even greater than mine. If anybody, it has to be you who can do it. You're just 11, Magnus. At your age, I was still a simple 1st-year student at Hogwarts, who knew not much about magic. You on the other hand have mastered so many things already." Merlin tried to motivate him.
Magnus nodded, "I guess I must study more to get stronger. I hope there won't be any mess this semester. I want to focus on my studies." he muttered and closed his eyes to sleep.
...
The next morning, Adam drove the Range Rover to King's Cross station. Magnus and Ragnar had their luggage ready. Magnus was allowed only one pet so he just made Ragnar take Summer as his pet because he had none.
"Aw... I will miss you two, Summer and Chad." Grace hugged the two little ones. They also enjoyed the warmth. Summer rubbed her head on her face while Chad was snuggling on her shoulder.
Then she gave a hug to Magnus and Ragnar. "You two take care. If you need anything just send me a letter. I will reply immediately. Also, Bobby's mom called me, she said Bobby had gone to the hospital with his dad so he couldn't come. You should write him a letter."
Magnus nodded, "Okay, mum. You take care as well."
"Yes yes, take care, aunty. And thank you for letting me stay with you." Ragnar politely thanked her.
Grace ruffled his hair, "Don't say that, you are a part of the family now."
"Absolutely right," Adam affirmed.
Ragnar felt warmth in his heart and gave them a long hug.
Magnus then waved his hand, "Okay bye, I will write to you when I get there."
Grace waved back, "I packed a lunchbox for you two, eat them on the train."
With that, both Ragnar and Magnus crossed the enchanted wall. Grace and Adam didn't need to come with them, they also needed to head to their offices soon as it was going to be a busy day after the new year holidays.
...
*Pat Pat*
As soon as they arrived at the Platform, they were greeted by Sirius and James from behind. They had entered just after them.
Magnus looked back and chuckled, "Ah... My lovely stalkers..."

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
