《How-not to be an Olympian God! 》Chapter 47: Conclusion of the council

Zeus coughed at Hera's words and resumed speaking, "I believe we have concluded."
"Aphrodite has touched upon the honor of Artemis and could have very well caused a conflict that would harm the stability of Olympus. For that, I punish her with a MONTH OF HOUSE ARREST!" Zeus passed down his judgment on Aphrodite.
The latter, instead of continuing her earlier showdown, unexpectedly chuckled and said, "I accept the punishment, Lord Zeus."
When she heard that, Athena told Alex, "I'm getting a bad premonition from this."
Artemis was astonished at her sudden change in attitude.
Zeus, also stunned by this outcome, coughed and said, "Also, the girls of Artemis' sacred forest will now also be placed under my protection."
"With that, I declare the divine council adjourned!"
Artemis bowed, thanked Zeus and everyone else, "Thank you, Father, and everyone who has discerned the side of justice today, I owe you all a favor!"
Aphrodite was already leaving the council, but was stopped by Hera, "Aphrodite, I will be escorting you back to your home."
Veins seemed to pop on Aphrodite's forehead, as her eyes twitched from anger.
Athena, Alex, and Hermes also stood up to leave, but suddenly, the towering figure of Zeus blocked their passage.
"Hermes, I need to speak to you." The god told Hermes.
Hermes murmured under his breath, "Uh-oh, sounds like trouble."
Zeus then turned to Alex and said, "Kid, I'll remember you."
Alex was astonished and didn't know how to interpret his vague words, so he just stood there silently until Athena stepped in and declared, "Father, he has seen a lot today, he's going back home."
She tugged violently at his shoulder and they left the room, and Alex knew his next conversation with her wasn't going to be a pleasant one. In fact, when they were out of the palace, Athena exclaimed, "Alex, you have done so many things wrong today..."

"Of all the deities to offend, you chose DEMETER and APHRODITE," Athena spoke calmly but Alex knew she was nothing but calm as she placed extra emphasis on the names of the goddesses.
Their conversation was, however, fortunately, interrupted by Persephone.
"Alex, I can't deny you were extremely audacious today, but putting yourself under the radar of Mother wasn't a good decision."
Alex rubbed his head and started to regret his hot-bloodedness from earlier.
'What had even gotten into me?' He wondered.
Persephone continued, "Look, I'm going to speak to her, and that will make the difference between her loathing you and disliking you."
"You don't have to do that-
"You're misunderstanding something, Alex, I'm doing it for Crista. She doesn't have the strength to protect herself yet, and Mother will target her if she can't vent her anger on YOU." Persephone interrupted him and spoke in an angry manner he had never seen before.
Alex started feeling very guilty, as his careless advances not only put him in danger but apparently also his lover.
Alex took a step back and bowed to both Athena and Persephone.
"I apologize."
Athena replied, "It's too late, Alex, you did what you did, and it was extremely courageous. I have to give it to you, if I had your strength, I wouldn't have ever stood up for myself in that council, even if it were for justice."
Persephone nodded at her words, "Wisely said, Athena. On that, I'm going."
Hades had also left the council by now, and caught up to his wife. He stared at Alex for a few seconds, implicitly sending out the same message as the other two, and then took Persephone into an embrace, the two of them leaving.
Ares and Achilles were nowhere to be seen, and most of the deities he knew had either already left, or were still inside.

Yet, an unfamiliar goddess approached them.
'If my memory serves me right, she was one of the two gods who refrained from voting..?' Alex pondered.
She had a very calm, somewhat stoic demeanor and a simple appearance compared to most other deities. Her eyes were of a deep green color that inspired relaxation and comfort.
"Athena, how have you been faring? It has been an eventful while." The goddess' voice was soothing.
"Ah, Aunt Hestia. I have had a tiresome life, yet fate has brought me only serendipity, for which I am thankful for." Athena referred to the goddess as 'Hestia'.
'Hestia?' As far as he knew, Hestia was the sister of Zeus, Hades and Poseidon, and the Goddess of hearth and home, encompassing all aspects of home life and comfort.
She wasn't mentioned very much in myths, because she didn't involve herself much in conflicts and such, and was one of the most benevolent goddesses.
"I see fate has even brought you a child. I won't occupy your time much further. Bless you, Athena." Hestia referred to Alex and cupped her hands in goodbye.
"Bless you, Aunt." Athena also cupped her hands back.
Following that, Athena forced him to stay at her tower, on account of protecting him until the situation from the day of the council calmed down.
An unexpected guest came by to the tower, however.
The fiery young goddess, the unexpected guest in question, was currently trying out various bows at Athena's training facility and praised those.
It was Artemis, the 'plaintiff' from the Divine Council.
"I came by to thank you for your intervention that day, if not, I wouldn't have secured victory!" She was speaking to him, but her attention was fully devoted to shooting arrows.
Alex shook his head, and Artemis suddenly shot a few arrows at him, which he skillfully avoided and responded back with a questioning glare.
"As I thought, you're very good at evasion. You should come by my forest sometimes to train together!" Her eyes were glowing, and Alex wasn't sure he shared her enthusiasm.
He didn't want to become a porcupine from the arrows of the Goddess of the Hunt, after all.
Just as he was thinking of ways to chase her out, a very fortunate coincidence happened.
The skinny god from the day of the council, that looked like her twin, came over and spoke, "Artemis, it is time to go back."
His voice felt distant, and he felt the polar opposite of the hot-blooded Artemis.
He was holding a lyre in his hands, similar to the one Achilles used.
Artemis looked unsatisfied, and pouted, "Apollo, let me play with the newcomer first..."
'That's Apollo?' Alex was surprised.
'Apollo' seemed to sense his emotions, as he stared at him incomprehensibly for a few seconds, and then left the floor and the tower in slow steps.
"Ughh, brother, you're always like this. Well, newcomer, I shall go!" Artemis gave him a thumbs-up and followed Apollo.
"The name's Alex..." Alex was downcast, as she was already too far away when he spoke.
Meanwhile, Athena was watching all of this, and warned him, "Be careful of Apollo, and Artemis too. They might not be malevolent, but they are definitely people you should look out for."
Alex kept her advice in mind and nodded.

Death Cultivator (Cultivator in Another World Vol. I & II)
Fight for your Soul. New cultivator Grady Hake thought his problems would disappear when he became a member of the strongest gang on the prison planet, but all it did was thrust him into the kill-or-be-killed world of the Eight-Legged Dragons. Now if he wants to survive, he’ll have to learn to cloak his deadly Spirit attacks in shadow, control the ancient revenant trying to take over his mind, and defeat the Angel of Death who dropped him on Van Diemann in the first place. Death Cultivator is sci-fi / isekai / wuxia / western / whatever, sort of like Borderlands meets Hunter x Hunter. I wanted to write something entertaining and actiony with that shonen vibe, so here's hoping this hits the spot. Warning: This isn't an isekai where the MC immediately becomes OP and starts revenge-killing everyone once he gets Death powers. Death is coming, but it's a slow burn. Like some of the reviewers for Volume I mentioned, the MC has a past and it effects his actions and choices in the new world.

YAOS 1 - Limitless Adventures - Yet Another OP Story Book 1
December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and at Amazon. December 30th 2018: V1.1.2 of YAOS Book 1 is out, some content additions, fixed typos. Amazon's enhanced typesetting now displays tables properly. YAOS is shown through the eyes of some genius athlete getting OP inside a VR, ah wait, Full Immersion game, ?F.I.O?. Not a Hero, not a Nerd, just a driven individual paying for mistakes made, biding time until he can return to the Real World. He isn't defined like you'd normally do it, you can pick his looks and name all on your own, just like you do in video games. Believe it or not, keeping his looks undefined is harder than you think. His backstory isn't expounded in detail, but it drives his choices. Book 1 isn't about depressing sob stories but about fun and rushing forward, pursuing new horizons. Oh, and you'll end on a cliffhanger! Well, most serials do, so you will probably expect that without being told explicitly. But it isn't that bad, there's a lot of reveals and more to come once this book, that is the first in a planned three-part series, is finally ready for release on amazon et al. The published version will have: 1.) Godawful speaker tags, I hate them, they make you stop thinking and speed up editing so much. In hindsight they should have been in to begin with. But I stand by my goals proclaimed earlier. You guys should think while reading, that is the whole point of the exercise. Apply the knowledge and ideas, improve yourself, get creative! 2.) Pretty colored tables, the damned blue boxes, a lot of work, 69 in one book. Finally fixed amazon's centering issue. Can't say I liked the hours needed to debug that. 3.) The promised Mitara chapters. 4.) A cover! 5.) And lastly, updated polished versions of several chapters. MC shares more of his past, some terrible chapters (esp. 32) finally work. Some new scenes, minor rewrites in parts. Text flow and other issues. The current challenge is to maintain essential ambiguity while satisfying people wanting to know more without thinking three steps ahead. Balancing one with the other is tough. The smut which was in remains, but the story told is not to be superseded by it. A 15+ rating for the first book is also important, not to mention, YAOS wasn't meant to contain any smut to begin with. If the Author can turn to writing full time his output should increase, so please support YAOS #1 once it does finally release. ~Thank You~ No maps so far, that should be in, but is really hard to get done right. Again, tips are appreciated. Update September 2017: Stubbed chapters, sorry guys, currently don't have time to upload them elsewhere, polishing book 1 and 2, writing 3, takes precedence. Book 1 is in heavy editing, too much to keep synced and continuing editing. I'd need a site which offers JS-free rapid managing of chapters and comments. Coding one myself or setting a premade up is out of scope until I'm done with the books. RRL-old offered that, nuff said. This is only here because the author believes in fairies, nobody reads this, most likely. October to December 2017: Life threw some curveballs. February 2018: Book 2 draft 1 completed, at ~150K words. Book 2 is fairly epic in scope, requires 1 rewritten chapter, some editing. Tables and miscellanea are in, but needs at least a grammar pass. March 2018: Book 3 at 28k words, first arc, rest needs serious planning for spin-off and satisfying conclusion. July 2018: Yet another proofing/editing session of books 1-3, 101+ chapters, ~300k words. B3 at 48k, starts out great, but no ETA, no wordcount limit, in flux. But prioritizing my writing cannot be done, I hate the delays as much as you, but you will prefer the whole released in a timely fashion rather than wait. Knowing myself how excruciating waiting can be, at least you'll get significantly polished versions and an ETA on book 2 by release of book 1. December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and in the process at Amazon et. al.. . To all who wait patiently, offered feedback, thanks again!

Blood & Honey #1
~A Wattys and Fiction Award winner*A lion does not need an invitation from a lamb. That is not the way of the predator. Predators take what they want, when they want it, however they please. And this belief that I am, that evil is, enslaved by the dark night is humorous to say the least. Why would any creator make their pupil inept of withstanding the lighted world when this planet is covered in daylight for half of its life span? No, our Maker did not instill such restrictions for, up here on these earthly lands, we are the gods of prey. ~ Tristan There is only one rule vampires must follow--Bite Hard. It is forbidden for humans to know vampires exist so you can imagine Tristan Darkos's surprise when he finds one that knows what he is. He can tell by the tremble of her body, the thump-thump of her pulse, and her dilated pupils. He's going to have to finish what some other vampire started. The problem is when Tristan gets close to this human his blood turns to fire and the thirst that burns in his throat that should spell her doom twists until he's consumed by another need--one that is evocative, primitive, and...wrong.If Tristan doesn't figure out the mystery that is Kinley Shea Rylan, it is certain whatever dark force her honey blood is summoning forth will be the end of him and, possibly, the end of the world as we know it. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Author note: - This is an original work with my take on Vampires.
