《Secrets of the Universe 》Chapter 135: Wolfy

Half an hour after the royals left, Jake was left to his own device.
He hopped on the makeshift bed provided for him and closed his eyes.
The aftermath of the battle was still severe. He could barely walk, and the ropes binding his limbs heightened the problem.
Taking a deep breath, Jake blew out a hot gulp of air.
He was finally alone. Hence, he didn't need to keep the stiff smile on his face.
The moment he dropped it, he was relieved and back to his usual cold expression.
After looking at the top of the tent, he sighed again, 'What a sad life?'
Jake frowned when he sensed another person about to enter his tent.
From the way the person didn't knock, he was sure that it wasn't a guard.
The second he looked at the person, he sighed again, "What do you want?"
It was the person that had captured him. Despite wearing a hood, her silvery-white could be easily recognized.
To his satisfaction, he no longer felt any repulsive feelings towards the princess.
However, he knew where it came from. It was either from his [Akashic Eye] or something more unknown like the [Purple Whirlpool], which he hadn't used for weeks.
The end of the whisperings might have marked the finale of the unique relationship, but Jake begged to differ!
He had spoken to Cheyenne in another language, and he was sure she understood him. Whatever language he used was oppressive enough to make him realize he was speaking it.
Moreover, the transformation she showed oozed of divinity and magnificence.
Walking silently to the edge of Jake's bed, Cheyenne uttered, "we need to talk."
"About what," Jake replied.
Hesitating a bit, Cheyenne asked, "Do you understand what happened in the battle?"
Jake could already see the angle she was coming from.
He divulged, "No, I do not understand."
His words left Cheyenne dumbfounded as she expected to get a good answer.

Wrinkles appeared on her face as she analyzed her battle. Frankly speaking, she barely understood what had happened to her.
All she knew was that ever since her mother died, she had begun subtly changing.
Her emotions were more frozen and pride was more firm. She was more serious than ever.
The worst and best part of all, she seemed to have no problems with cultivating. If not for her talent limits, she might probably be stronger than her father right now.
Coupled with the strange pieces of information that filled her brains, she was able to rise in strength quickly, possibly faster than anyone on the continent.
This definitely alarmed her, but she could not reveal the changes to anyone before she understood it herself.
She also made it her goal not to totally lose her personality, keeping her troublesome self.
However, she met her first setback when she encountered a strange boy called Jake.
He managed to lit a fire in her heart that called for violence and urging in her to tample on all those that dare play with her. Due to her control over her emotions, she was able to control them perfectly… until their last battle.
She was at the point of death when something came out of her. No, that was not the best way to describe it!
Rather than something coming out of her, it was her that came out of her shell. Memories began to fill her brain and she became more confused.
In the little time that the transformation occurred, she focused on her priorities and defeated Jake, securing access to clues about her mother.
After that, she found herself swimming in a borderless sea, with no clear path. That was why she came here, to the one person that was able to agitate, not once, but twice, the things hidden in her.
Nonetheless, now that she got a sad reply, she fell into a pit of depression, "Is that so?..."

With a slow slowly, she walked out of the tent, but before she could leave Jake hollered at her, "I saw something!"
Those three immensely cold words from Jake sparked life into Cheyenne.
Despite being naturally independent, she knew she had to consult someone for help.
Jake, on the other hand, had no reason to tell Cheyenne, but he actually saw something.
"I will only tell you if you free me," bargained Jake.
Sure, if it was any other time, he would be curious about Cheyenne, but his safety mattered above all.
Moreover, he wanted to see how desperate Cheyenne was. It was interesting that the all-mighty Cheyenne wasn't invincible when it came to life problems.
The reveal of Jake's skill had made her fight to the death and now, he wanted to see if she had the same drive.
"No, I can't do that," muttered Cheyenne.
She was sad and all, but she had to respect her family's wishes to keep Jake in check. She, herself, knew how dangerous he could become if allowed to walk freely.
An emotionless voice came from Jake, "Oh, is that so? I definitely saw something otherworldly, but if you don't want to know, then it's your problem."
Prying on her weakness, he taunted her, "Say, Cheyenne. Are you really the daughter of the king and queen?"
"What sort of question is that?" retorted Cheyenne.
Due to her current mindset, she had no idea that she was doing exactly as Jake wanted.
"I'm just curious. I'm sure it's the same for your siblings. You know, I wasn't the only one to see your transformation. Those scouts that you had also were there. They would have probably reported their sightings to the king," teased Jake.
He aggravated her further, "You know how rumors spread, from one person to another. By now, almost everyone would possess doubts about your identity in their minds. What is even funnier is that you don't have anything to defend your identity "
Jake continued taunting Cheyenne, "You didn't inherit your father's bloodline, nor your mother's talent. It could be said that your transformation was a unique ability you were born with, but we all know that's not true. Unique abilities manifest at birth, or at least they show signs of manifesting. Yours was too random. Your transformation resembled a bloodline transformation, which would only make them doubt further."
Jake had analyzed every information he had on her and arranged it for her to hear.
His goal was to make her more insecure. He hoped that she would choose to free him, but he knew it wasn't going to happen. So, he was just enjoying himself, taunting her.
He was able to send her away with just a few words, but when she gained back control of her emotions, they would talk again.
'All of this in one day,' smiled Jake after he was truly alone.
He just wanted to sleep as with the ropes on him, he could not cultivate.
It did not matter to him as he could use the time he had with him to digest all of the knowledge he read from the library in his head.
............…
While Jake was in thoughts, on the other side of the Aztec's temporary camp, Caspian sat attending to a few issues in a well-lit tent.
He was about to designate a few tasks when a guard softly informed him from outside the tent, "Your Highness, the wolf is here."
Caspian eye's sparkled as, in the next moment, he appeared outside the tent and headed in a particular direction.
It didn't take long to get to his destination. It was an open area, but what got Caspian's interest was a large black wolf with only one functioning eye that was cuddling with Conan.
Like a child, he shouted happily at the wolf, "Wolfy."

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)
