《Me! Zombie! Summoned to Another World!》Chapter 3: I Want to Become a Necromancer!
Seeing the exact content of what I remembered in my head, I was speechless.
I had just been summoned to this strange world, free from the threat of RPG bazookas.
I had a good meal of fresh meat.
Then I would be told that I'd be in even more danger in this world.
Almost all creatures were hostile to undead creatures like me.
Whether it was powerful dragons, weak goblins, the powerful Church of Light, or even the weak farmers...
They were all my enemies!
If I weren't careful, then I might be discovered.
I would then be captured, tied to the execution platform, and then burned alive just like those witches in the Middle Ages.
...
Was life finally going to deal with a little zombie like me?
The feeling of having enemies all over the world was nearly enough to crush a weak zombie like me.
However, I was still young, and my zombie career had just begun. I didn't want to die yet!
In order to find a way to save myself, I had to will my consciousness to delve into my memories once again.
[ My Affair with the Holy Maiden of Light ]
? ? ?
I put my mind back into the memories I had recalled and saw...
The Holy Maiden lying on the bed, her face flushed red...
? ? ? ! ! !
Damn it, it was a pornographic book.
I thought it was some secret past about the Church of Light, okay?
I turned around and stared at the remains of the necromancer.
This old fool actually saved the pornographic book into the depths of my memory!
...
At last, after searching for a while, I finally found this sentence in my memory.
'In the Nolan continent, strength begets respect, and the strong reigns supreme…'
Looking at such a plain sentence, I was a little speechless.
It turned out that this world was the same as my previous world, believing in the most simple laws.
The strong got everything, while the weak lost everything!
It's just that in my previous life, the most formidable were those with power, and this world was filled with all kinds of extraordinary powers.
In this world filled with all kinds of strange things, there were even legends.
Not only could the most powerful mage in the Mage Tower live forever but could even stand shoulder to shoulder with a true god.

Although I did not really believe such legends, the meaning behind them was very clear.
As long as one was strong enough, even a true god wouldn't be able to do anything to you, let alone an ordinary church organization.
Looking at the description in the necromancer's memories, I thought of the cultivation method I had seen in the necromancer's mind.
I felt a little complicated.
Immortality?!
To be as strong as a living creature?
This was probably the wish of all living creatures in the world, right?
However, those who desire to live forever wanted to obtain great power.
There were so many of them in this world, but how many people had succeeded up until now?
Moreover, such a powerful organization like the Church of Light still existed even after thousands or even tens of thousands of years.
It would be hard to believe that there weren't many hidden experts there.
And it was very possible to have a few popes or bishops who were on par with true gods.
...
The outside world was simply too dangerous.
My current identity was an undead creature, and my strength was so weak; I better not go out.
This place was close to the Battlefield of Gods, which was a famous forbidden area on the continent.
There were all kinds of magical beasts and strange creatures in the forbidden area. Normally, no one would take the risk to come here.
I could hide here during my wretched development.
I would think of a way to get out when I had enough strength.
After making up my mind, I began to look through my harvest.
[ Necromancer, Training Notes ]
[ Necromancer Magic, Research Notes ]
[ Undead Creatures, Creation Manual and Conjectures ]
...
These were the training and research notes left behind by the necromancer, and they were all used to enhance his own strength.
However, I remembered the necromancer from before, who was even weaker than a weak zombie like me.
I started to have some doubts about his training method. I even started to have doubts about the power of the necromancer in his memories.
But I still quickly opened the training notes in my memories.
Why?
It was very simple.
Because right now, I had no other choice but to practice the cultivation method in front of me.
If I wanted to obtain a more powerful cultivation method, I would have to take the risk of going to a place where humans or other species lived.

However, my identity as a zombie...
Perhaps, as soon as I appeared in human society, I would be killed on the spot or captured and used to hold a bonfire party.
Some training was better than nothing.
Perhaps, because I was a zombie, would it be more powerful and appropriate for me to train necromancy techniques?
I had no choice. Since I couldn't find any other training methods, I could only comfort myself in this way.
I opened the [ Necromancy, Training Notes ] in my mind...
Just like the beginning of the notes, a writing brush was used for the annotations.
'Necromancy isn't just about the pursuit of formidable power. It also means continuously exploring the mysteries of the human body. It allows weak humans to have the power of dragons, the agility of elves, and the creation of goblins... and, most importantly, exploring the true meaning of life.'
'Our highest goal is to rise from the dead!'
'...'
Looking at the various annotations on the page, my heart didn't waver at all, and I even felt like laughing.
I expressionlessly flipped to the next page.
'Necromancy is a supreme magic. If you want to become a noble necromancer, you must possess your own undead creature... ! ! #% #@...'
The content of the first page was very short.
It was to precisely inform everyone who wanted to learn necromancy that necromancy was a noble magic and that there exists a threshold.
Only when one had an undead creature that belonged to them could one be considered a necromancer.
This was because only when one had an undead creature that belonged to them could one sense and absorb the power of death in the air.
There were also records on how one could obtain their own undead creature.
One, make your own using the materials at hand (the limbs of various animals).
To make corpse-eating beasts: materials...
How to make...
Two, to summon. Use the materials as offerings. Summon undead creatures from the underworld. After the summoning is successful, the contract will be automatically formed. (It will cost a lot of money.)
After reading this, I finally understood why the guy from before had summoned me.
It turns out that Regulus, the guy who claimed to be a necromancer, wasn't qualified to be called a necromancer.
He never had an undead creature that truly belonged to him.
Moreover, according to the records, creating the first undead creature that belonged to him was extremely difficult and time-consuming.
It was likely that he had wanted to become a true necromancer in haste.
He chose to use the sacrifices and summon one directly.
However, he didn't expect that the summoning would create some problems and summoned me, a zombie.
Not only did he fail to form a contract with me, I even ate him.
I quickly finished reading the methods to become a necromancer.
Just as I was about to turn to the next page, I realized that no matter how hard I tried, I was unable to see the next page.
However, after searching through my memories, I discovered that there was still a lot of content behind this notebook.
I tried for a long time, and I tried many methods.
All of a sudden, I thought of something.
That Regulus from before wasn't even a necromancer, so how could he have written down a cultivation notebook!
The owner of this notebook was someone else!
The reason why I couldn't flip through the notebook was because I wasn't qualified!
If I wasn't a true necromancer, then I wasn't qualified to flip through the contents below!
The true owner of this notebook had placed a restriction on it!
Thinking about it, how could I still not understand? Inheriting the notes was absolutely not a trivial matter.
Even if I wasn't a native of this world, I could deduce that the person who had the ability to plant such a tremendous restriction was absolutely and extraordinarily powerful!
Furthermore, based on the words written on it, the notebook was probably in existence for more than a thousand years.
However, the restriction on the notebook was still there, and there wasn't even the slightest sign of weakening.
Could it be that the person who wrote this notebook didn't die?
This...
Looking at the notebook inside my mind, my eyes began to heat up.
There was even a faint, bloodthirsty-red glow emanating from them.
I wanted to practice such powerful cultivation technique!
I also wanted to become a necromancer!

Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)
