《Me! Zombie! Summoned to Another World!》Chapter 18: Swamp Python: I’d Like to See Who Dares Interrupt My Meal!

"Phew—"
I felt a surge of joy as I watched the Knight King swing his Iron Birch mace.
The Knight King had obtained the most suitable weapon for himself and had become even more powerful now.
It had been two days since the last time I had gone more than sixty miles away to retrieve the Bone Spirit Holly.
The Knight King had obtained a new weapon, and I knew that the plan to transform Regulus was about to begin again.
I had obtained the body of the magic wand; but if I wanted to make a magic wand, I still needed the core of the wand.
The core of the wand was made from the hair, nerves, or tendons of magical creatures.
There were many magical creatures in this world, so the materials for wand cores were made from varied animals. However, most of them were from unicorns and dragons that possessed positive power.
There were not many that could be used by zombies or undead that possessed the power of death and darkness.
There were even fewer that could be found in this small area.
Out of all the magical animals nearby, only one qualified.
Located up north in a large swamp, there was a monster.
A Swamp Python!
The Swamp Python was an extremely dangerous magical animal in this world.
Unlike ordinary Pythons that were non poisonous, the Swamp Python was not only extremely toxic, it could even breathe in poisonous fog. And don't forget to mention that it also possessed the Python's biggest weapon.
Strangulation!
A strangling force that weighed over ten tons.
The reason I had gone to look for the Swamp Python the day after I got the materials for the wand was because it was extremely difficult to deal with.
I needed to make sufficient preparations before I could go look for trouble with the Swamp Python.

The Knight King had already obtained the most suitable weapon for himself. So now it was time to find another material for the magic wand.
...
I stared at the calm surface of the swamp, and I was walking more than ten meters away from it.
It's because I had no idea when or where in these calm waters there would be a giant beast that might suddenly appear and take my life.
This way, if there was a ripple on the surface of the water, trudging beside the swamp would allow me to observe it for a long time.
Finally, just as I was about to take a turn around the entire swamp, an animal that had come out of the forest to drink water caught my attention.
It was a Lone Wolf!
The Lone Wolf slowly walked to the side of the swamp, but when he was three to four meters away from the surface of the water, he retreated.
He did this a few times.
When I saw Lone Wolf's reaction, I knew.
This Lone Wolf also knew that the swamp was filled with hidden dangers. He was walking back and forth here to test the waters for potential predators.
Suddenly, while Lone Wolf was testing the waters, he noticed us, who were watching from the side. He was shocked.
Just as he stood rooted to the spot, I suddenly noticed that there were ripples on the surface of the water behind him.
"Splash—"
Immediately after that, a gigantic beast rushed out of the water. It opened its mouth wide and bit at Lone Wolf by the water's edge.
The Lone Wolf immediately reacted and wanted to turn around and leave.
However, the gigantic beast in the water had rushed out of the water too quickly. It was too late.
"Awoo—"
The Lone Wolf let out a wail before he was dragged into the water by the gigantic beast.

"Kacha... Kacha..."
Moments later, the Lone Wolf was swallowed into the gigantic beast's stomach.
I stood on the shore and watched all of this with cold eyes. Once again, I felt lucky that I wasn't too close to the surface of the water.
A seven to eight-meter long Crocodile suddenly rushed out from the calm surface of the water. It didn't give anyone any time to react.
When I saw the gigantic crocodile eating in the water, I looked at the undead beside me—the Knight King.
I thought to myself, "The Knight King is able to fight against such a giant beast on the ground. If I were to enter the water, I would be sending food to the other party."
If I were to encounter a Swamp Python, I definitely couldn't fight with it in the water. I had to lure it to the surface...
Just as I was thinking while looking at the giant Crocodile in the water...
An arc-shaped ripple suddenly appeared behind the giant crocodile that was eating.
A greyish-black snake suddenly emerged from the water and chomped on the Crocodile's neck.
It then used its own body to firmly entangle the Crocodile.
When I saw this scene, I became stunned.
This crocodile was at least seven to eight meters long, but this snake's length was even more of an exaggeration.
It could tightly wrap around the crocodile's body and render it unable to move.
When the snake opened its mouth, I could vaguely see two long fangs.
All this information was telling me that this was my goal.
The Swamp Python!
Looking at the terrifying size of the snake, I couldn't help but feel surprised.
You know, when I came here, I had already imagined that the size of the Swamp Python would be very exaggerated. But I didn't expect it to be this exaggerated.
It was actually able to firmly entangle a seven to eight-meter Crocodile, and there was still some left.
I didn't dare to imagine the exact length of this snake, but it was definitely more than 15 meters.
"Ka La... Ka La..."
A bone-chilling sound suddenly sounded.
I looked up and saw that the Swamp Python had already coiled around the Crocodile to death and was compressing its width.
This was the sound of the Crocodile's bones breaking.
Looking at the scene before me, I knew that the Python was about to feed.
I couldn't help but feel anxious.
Because the Python was still in the water and hadn't come ashore.
And if they were to fight in the water, the Knight King had no chance of winning.
I watched as the Python opened its mouth and began to devour the Crocodile's corpse. I suddenly thought of something I had seen on the Discovery program in my previous life.
If the Python was interrupted while it was feeding, it would definitely be very angry. It would even directly attack the person who had interrupted its meal.
Thinking of this, I began to search for rocks on the ground.
Three minutes later, I had gathered all the rocks that I could pick up nearby.
I ordered the Knight King to pick up the rocks on the ground and throw them at the Swamp Python in the water with me.
"Dong—"
The rocks were thrown at the head and body of the Python.
The Python felt pain. It stopped eating and spat out the parts that it had swallowed.
It wanted to see the one who had disturbed its meal!

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.
