《My Unconventional Delivery System! 》Chapter 23: Lottery

After arriving at his aunt's house, he witnessed the sight of an extremely worried Tohru, waiting for him. She should be worried about his late arrival.
It wasn't just her, Kanna was also there, they were way past their usual sleeping routine. From here, it could be seen they were extremely worried about him.
His aunt Kobayashi San was also affected by the two Dragon's worries, she couldn't go to sleep as they bombarded him with questions about Kyle's arrival and safety.
She would answer them, and assured them that Kyle was fine, he was already a young man and that he could take care of himself. But she was unable to cease their nagging and restlessness. It couldn't be helped, they were from a dangerous world after all. It was right for them to worry.
Thus, she wasn't able to sleep and had to accompany them! But after Kyle's arrival she was relieved of this matter. She didn't forget to ask him though.
"Hey, where were you gone all this time?! Because you arrived late without informing, these two didn't let me sleep!" She stared at him full of annoyance.
Kyle truly didn't expect this, he was too focused on earning money. He could only look at his aunt apologetically and explain.
"I'm sorry oba-san, I promise to call you if something similar happens in the future."
"Sigh~ whatever, I hope you would do that, so out with it, what's the reason for your late arrival today?"
Hearing this question, Kanna and Tohru's attention immediately shifted to Kyle, waiting for his explanation.
"Well it's a bit complicated… but I'll try to explain it to the best of my abilities…"
So he started explaining about this 'friend' of his which was obviously Meru, he explained that she had intentionally ordered food from his company and… yada yada….
..
..
..
After finishing his explanation, his aunt exclaimed in shock.
"Are you serious?"
"Yes, I am."
Kobayashi San touched her forehead, the first part of Kyle's story wasn't that surprising, until the last part came where he actually earned 1,000,000 yen! By just defeating his friend!
Just how rich is this friend of his anyway?! To casually give Kyle a million yen, because he won a single match from her?!

Kyle didn't really explain Meru's bank revenue, he was certain that his aunt would simply faint if he mentioned the exact amount so he left it vague and upto her imaginations.
More importantly though, he didn't explain the difficulty of winning a match against Meru. It would make it more complicated.
The reason why those 1,000,000 yen were worth it was because of the difficulty. He could proudly say that he might possibly have beaten the gaming god of this world. At least that's what he felt playing with Meru.
Not just anyone was able to beat her, the first existence that came to mind was only [ Blank ] or Nanashi. Meanwhile Kobayashi San was feeling complicated.
It would be a lie if she said she wasn't jealous of her nephew's earnings, she needed to work tirelessly, working her ass off in the damn company for at the very least a few year, bar if she gets a promotion, to even come close to earning that amount of money from her current damnable job, she felt it wasn't fair how life worked.
She wouldn't be thinking this however, if she only knew how hard it really was to beat Meru in a game, she would most definitely jealous of his nephew if she just understood the impossibility of his achievement.
Meanwhile Tohru was fuming in unrestrained jealous for an entirely different reason! The reason was also fairly simple, of having Kyle's time and attention.
She was jealous of this friend of Kyle's! Especially since she was a female. She felt threatened by this girl.
However for some reason, Kyle didn't say her name, it was as if he was aware that she would do something about her. She felt more frustrated by this fact.
She couldn't force him, she was afraid that of she did, there would form a chasm in their budding relationship. If she became overbearing even before establishing their relationship as lovers, then it was bound to end in catastrophe. All she could was to bury her jealousy in her heart and wait.
Meanwhile Kanna was clinging tightly to Kyle's right leg, she didn't let go of him from the moment he arrived.

Even though it was just a few hours that she didn't see Kyle, she still missed him badly, so much so that it even surprised her.
A few hours was nothing significant to a dragon like her, it was just like a few seconds, but for some reason, those few hours without Kyle felt as long as a draconian eternity.
They immediately went to sleep after the issue was over.
Kanna slept along with Kyle, she didn't want to let go of him so there was nothing he could do, he couldn't force her to sleep with Tohru. He wasn't prepared to face the consequences of a saddened Kanna.
So he let her sleep along with him, Tohru was extremely jealous of Kanna at this moment!
She also wanted to sleep with Kyle! She did ask if she could sleep with him, only to get rejected by Kyle. He had two reasons for this.
1. There wasn't enough space in the couch he was sleeping in, Kanna could fit perfectly in the narrow space, that was the other reason why he allowed her to sleep with him, along with the initial one of appeasing Kanna.
2. And this was the main reason why he didn't want Tohru to sleep with him, he wasn't confident enough of controlling his urge, he might do something to her, even if they didn't have sex some awkward sexual interactions were definitely on the table.
Honestly any man would probably feel the same, after all Tohru was beautiful beyond belief with a figure that was screaming someone to lewd her.
Naturally he didn't tell Tohru about the 2nd reason, if he was still doubtful that on the off chance he would be able to control himself if they slept together, he had no doubts that they would definitely have sex if he stated the 2nd reason. Tohru would immediately pounce on him on the first chance of him mentioning about it.
Kyle wasn't dense enough to not notice Tohru's interest in him, that too in a severely romantic manner. At this point she was almost in the yandere territory for him.
The very reason why he didn't try to make a move on Tohru was because he was utterly unconfident about himself.
Only when he thought that he had some resemblance of being worthy of her affection, only then he would start to change their relationship. He was obviously interested in her and it was just not about her being beautiful.
This wasn't his inferiority complex, it was just his pride as a man. He wanted to be someone that could keep up with her, someone she didn't need to be burdened with, someone who didn't need her protection or presence in every problem. He also wanted to be someone she could rely on a dangerous situation, someone that could protect her. Overall he didn't want to be a sheltered husband protected by his wife.
The only way to overcome the gap between them was through his delivery system. The items and power he would be able to obtain through it would help him in this endeavor for power. Kyle deeply sighed as he finished his thoughts. Slowly he was about to drift in the realm of sleep when...
...he suddenly remembered an item he had completely forgotten about. The lottery tickets obtained from the system!
His closed eyes immediately opened! As wide as they could. Astonished by how he had even forgotten about something as important as this.
Kyle thought. 'System! Open the lottery function please!'

Kyle almost screamed after he saw the lottery prizes!
His heart was beating violently. 'Oh my GOD! What's up with these prizes?! Each one of them is just too much! If only I had opened this function earlier!'
He didn't waste any time, and he commanded in his mind. 'System! Use my Lottery Ticket!'

No Easy Mode
Reincarnation isn't easy, Sure you might have a status menu but unlike a video game the training is real, the blood, sweat, and tears are real. Unfortunately for Samuel Erasi Fuller he found out that no amount of video game knowledge can prepare you for a world of skills, attributes and magic and even his top notch survival skills only go so far when there are beasts that shoot fireballs or move like a bolt of lighting. Worse yet there are no levels of skills just a name and description and a percentage display! Edit: Yes the poorly done cover is my personal work. Drawing anything using your finger and an app on your phone was not as easy as the tutorial made it look!

The Dreamside Road
Five years after the world fell into chaos, a treasure of artifacts is up for grabs. The relics of the Dreamside Road offer a power that could help rebuild or annihilate what remains. Orson Gregory is an adventurer for hire, but hunts this treasure for answers, not glory. Enoa Cloud’s late aunt helped hide the Dreamside Road, but following in her aunt’s supernatural tradition offers her as much peril as power. Together, Orson and Enoa battle a magic-obsessed militia, clash with a host of rivals, and face constant adventure on their journey to find the Dreamside Road. *Updates Monday and Friday The Dreamside Road is now on TopWebFiction! Vote so people know this exists. _____________________________________ NOTE: The Progression tag applies specifically to Enoa. Also, fair warning, that element doesn't enter the story until she begins her studies. Content: Main characters range in age from teenagers to people in their thirties and older, but it will not contain gratuitous violence or explicit sexual content. It also won’t shy away from implication, anything to make this story and its world feel more real. Characters will freely allude to potentially triggering topics, including living with a disability, facing terminal illness, coping with trauma, surviving societal destabilization, and the consequences of bigotry. At its most intense, the Dreamside Road is a hard PG-13. Worldbuilding: This is not a story with a lot of early exposition scenes, conveniently explaining ‘magic systems’ and political dynamics. Readers will learn, progressively, as the characters do. This story/world has a ‘magic system’, or rather, a set of systems, but the effort to quantify and understand the truth of the setting plays a role in the backstory, as well as in some character motivations. In that same vein, not every character has a firm grasp on the nature of their world, and not every piece of dialog from every character should be taken as entirely truthful Worldbuilding. Also, this isn't the softest Sci-fi. There are at least some basic explanations given for various elements, but Royal Road does not give me a spectrum to choose from. Given the choice between hard and soft, let's just say The Dreamside Road won't be cited in any college Physics papers. Setting and Theme: The Dreamside Road walks the line between fantasy and science fiction and deals with finding one’s place in a changing world. Many of the characters in this story are United States natives and the story begins in the United States, my homeland. However, knowledge or interest in this country is not necessary to understand the story, especially as it progresses. Also, as this is a novel that deals with societal collapse and while that damage may be widespread, in story, I don’t want to overstep and critique the culture of others’ unless I have particular knowledge in a given area. Ultimately, the Dreamside Road is American in the same way Harry Potter is English, fantasies that do not have a full secondary world, but with enough original elements to fully diverge the setting from our the real world.
