《Rise of the Great Emperor 》Chapter 17: Fight with Su Han

"What? Do you want to join the hunting squad just by fighting me? Let me tell you, you're going to lose miserably!" Su Han said strongly and put down his basket too. His aura exploded, giving off pressure that was equivalent to his rank as body training rank 6.
Body training rank 6 was quite common in this village. There were many of them who had reached that rank after they grew up. Amongst the adults, it was not rare to see body training rank 6, but amongst the youngsters, it was fairly rare.
Lin Xiao snorted and looked Su Han. In the past, Lin Xiao was already known as a little troublemaker but didn't really have much animosity with Su Han. But because of a little incident with Lin Xiao beating Su Han in a game when the latter wanted to show off to Xu Qin, the latter hated Lin Xiao.
It was public knowledge that Xu Qin was the most beautiful girl in this village. She didn't lack people who liked her but Lin Xiao was the only who was indifferent to her. But because of his blatant action to ignore her, Xu Qin remembered him and often criticize him.
Su Han… was jealous.
"Heh, I thought that the hunting squad is a fair place, but I guess I'm wrong," Lin Xiao said with a snort.
He thought that even though Su Hei and Su Han were part of the hunting squad, the people here were fair and just. But unfortunately, he was completely wrong. The villagers here were listening to what these two Su siblings were saying to each other.
How sickening.
"Don't spout lies, Lin Xiao!"
"Come."
Lin Xiao readied his stance and looked at Su Han with sharp gaze. He put his center of gravity a bit low because it was the best stance for those who trained with Mountain's Punch. Despite only trained with Wenren Yu for a short period of time, Lin Xiao had already adapted to the basic.

Su Han's face turned red in anger. He looked at Lin Xiao and laughed. "With you being one rank below me? Do you think you can defeat me?"
Thud!
Putting his basket to the side, Su Han rushed to Lin Xiao's direction. His fist was punched forward, executing Mountain Punch's perfectly.
Swish!
Lin Xiao dodged by evading to the side. Side stepping to the side, Lin Xiao twisted his body and punched forward.
Bam! Thud!
Su Han was pushed to the back as he looked at Lin Xiao with disbelief. That one punch felt extremely hurt as it hit his arm. At the most crucial moment, he managed to block the attack by lowering his arm. If not, his stomach would have been destroyed by that one punch.
Even now, his arm felt numb!
Was Mountain Punch truly capable of giving out power as much as that?
Lin Xiao looked at Su Han and flashed a mocking grin. That one smile instantly infuriated the already angry Su Han.
"You're seeking death!"
Swish!
Rushing forward once more, Su Han punched forward. Due to his anger, his speed actually increased, but his accuracy failed big time. Lin Xiao had more than enough space to evade to the side.
Raising his head, Lin Xiao could see Su Han was punching using his other hand once more. Lin Xiao swiftly stopped his step to be half step as he switched his hand and used the same movement.
Mountain Punch!
Bang!
This time, Su Han had no time to react as the punch landed squarely on his stomach. Lin Xiao waved his hand lightly and readied his stance once more. One of the lessons from living in wilderness was that one should never lower their guard unless their enemy had died!
His eyes were looking at the crouching Su Han with a pity. If only Su Han's guard was a bit lower, he might have the chance to turn Su Han into a eunuch with his punch just now. Alas, the chance had passed.

"How could it be possible that Mountain Punch be that strong?" Su Han yelled.
His stomach felt as if it was ruptured just from the punch that Lin Xiao delivered. While it might not as bad as he thought it was, Su Han knew that the wound was completely different than what he could exert.
They were all supposed to be learning the same skill and have similar capabilities. But why Lin Xiao grew much stronger?
Lin Xiao grinned. "Is that all you got?"
"You…!"
Disregarding his pain, Su Han jumped up and stormed towards Lin Xiao once more. His hand was about to land another punch when a strong arm pulled him to the back.
Bang!
Crashing onto the wall, Su Han was stunned speechless. He looked at the man who pushed him to the back. The moment he recognized the face, there was no longer any energy left for him to even get angry.
"B…Brother?"
"What are you doing causing ruckus here?" Su Hei asked in cold tone. The aura from that of body training rank 8 suppressed everyone on the scene. Even if they wanted to speak, they felt as if they would be unable to do so under the heavy pressure.
"That's…."
"Leader, we're only testing the result and Little Xiao here can't accept the result."
"Oh, you can't accept the result?" Su Hei turned his head to look at Lin Xiao. Even if he knew that his brother was the one at wrong, he would always defend his family no matter what the situation was.
Who would care what the truth was?
Lin Xiao kept his body straight and looked at Su Hei. He slowly turned around and picked his basket. "Didn't you say that if I can bring back a fish, I'll pass? Now it seems that you're not willing to adhere to your words, Leader Su?"

Forced Development (What does it truly mean to live a fulfilling life?)
To get things started I would like to admit that this story does not bring much new to the table when it comes to the over-saturated Litrpg genre in terms of things like mechanics and power systems. Then what exactly am I trying to bring to the table with this work? A nice slow-paced novel about people maturing and growing older think of it as the re: zero or jobless reincarnation of Litrpgs. A story that tries to take into consideration how a worldwide system would affect the economics and culture of a world. A story that is much more character-focused than the typical heavy progression-focused novels this genre is known for. The RPG system, like any good power system, is there to actually explore the themes of the story and not just as a plot device for characters to get stronger. This is a story where we will see the growth of the Mc from being a baby to when he dies of old age. With plenty of heart-racing actions and intriguing plot developments along the way. Exploring themes like; What does it mean to improve at something and what does it mean to mature as a person? How does magic, the constant threat of monsters and people so much stronger than the average joe that they can destroy countries affect one's culture both on the micro and the macro scale? How people are affected by the culture in general? Generational trauma Nature vs Nurture Talent vs hard work What is morality, society, and people's opinions on both? What does it mean to be human and what does it mean to be alive in the context of a world with multiple sapient species vastly different from one another in basic biology? All these questions are going to be explored from multiple angles using the system as a catalyst for those discussions. So if any of does questions sound interesting to you what are you waiting for, I'm sure you are going to love this story. PS - Chapter come out every Friday at about the same time.

The Hunt
Cecily's blade swung, hitting its mark as always. The man's arm fell to the cold grass of the prison with a familiar thud. He let out a blood curdling scream. A warning to the rest. Stay away, the Hunter is here. That's the name they'd given her, the Hunter. After she cut off the man who tried to rape hers masculinity, they stayed away. She'd made it clear anyone who tried to touch her would be hunted and slaughtered. Cecily kneeled down, pushing the man's face into the dirt so she could use his back as a seat while she trifled through his belongings. "You're hurting my ears," she told him, no remorse in her voice. "Quiet down before I really do kill you."The man but his lip, well aware that she wasn't lying. Sobs shook him, making for an uncomfortable seat. She, however, didn't particularly feel the beed to kill him. It happened, not often, but it did. "Oh, hush up," she hissed, taking out a bag of rations with her metal hand, "it doesn't hurt that bad."With her good, human hand, she dropped the plastic bag of food into her own bag. She pushed up, off the man back. As she was about to walk away, bag slung over her shoulder, brushing against her autumn colored braid, she turned back to him. "Consider yourself lucky," she said, no hatred in her voice, there never was. "Consider yourself lucky that you didn't do anything stupid. And even luckier if one of the scum bagged criminals in here feel a little light in their hearts and help you. Consider yourself luckier if you die there."With that, her old black and white Nike sneakers carried her off into the brush of the huge prison.
