《Rise of the Great Emperor 》Chapter 57: Mysterious Lake

The two youngsters swiftly passed by the forest to the north.
Lin Xiao was only body training rank 6, but he was not any slower than Wenren Yu who was already body training rank 7. From the way it looked like, the two of them wouldn't take so much time to reach the lake.
"Is this place always this quiet?" Wenren Yu asked. He didn't even see a single beast even though they have been traveling for more than half an hour.
Tilting his head, Lin Xiao pondered. He already had this absurd thought since some time ago. After all, whenever he headed to the north lake, the forest was always so clear of beast. They all simply disappeared.
"Maybe they're afraid of me?"
"…"
Lin Xiao shrugged and pointed to the front. "When we're near, let's rest a bit. We wouldn't be able to run properly without recovering our Qi."
"Fine."
This was the first time Wenren Yu passed through this area, but he already felt that it was really strange. When they were near the house back then, there were always so many beasts around because Lin Xiao somehow managed to hunt some every few days for their meal.
But in this part of the forest, the beasts disappeared? That sound suspicious.
"We're near."
Lin Xiao stopped after some time. He could already see the lake from a distance away and didn't dare to get any closer. With agile movement, he climbed the nearby tree and sat on the thick branch.
Swish!
Behind him, Wenren Yu followed suit and furrowed his brows when he saw the three people near the lake. From their appearance, it was clear that they have been fighting against the beasts for a long time.
"Did they attract all the beasts?" Wenren Yu asked in weird tone.

"Oh, maybe?"
Wenren Yu looked at Lin Xiao and decided in his heart that it would be useless to talk about this matter with this ignorant brat. From what he knew regarding beasts, they would usually target the weaker ones and not the strong ones. How could it be possible that they were targeting the three foundation establishment elders and not targeting weak target like them.
He felt that the matter was bizarre.
Looking at the calm Lin Xiao, Wenren Yu suddenly had a thought. "Lin Xiao."
"What is it? Don't ask me to get closer to those three. Unless you wished for us to die in miserable manner, we better keep our distance."
"Not that." Wenren Yu rolled his eyes. He was not an idiot, alright? "When you come here in the past, are there any beasts?"
"No."
"Not even one?"
Lin Xiao shook his head. "I don't encounter any beast when I'm approaching the lake in the past."
No beasts?
For some reason, Wenren Yu felt as if the beasts were purposely moving away when Lin Xiao came. As if Lin Xiao was their king and if they didn't make way, they would surely suffer greatly.
Immediately afterwards, Wenren Yu shook his head. He felt that his brain was not working well for him to think about such matters like this. How could it be possible that an ignorant village brat like Lin Xiao be a king?
The thoughts itself was absurd.
"They're moving."
Lin Xiao attracted Wenren Yu's attention and the two of them focused their attention to the three foundation establishment people. From the way it looked like, the three of them were quarreling.
Unfortunately, their distance didn't allow them to know what they were talking about.
"Bastard!"

Except for this one shrill scream.
Splash!
The two of them watched as the three people entered the lake. There was nothing wrong with their movements, but seeing how they use Qi to envelop their body, Lin Xiao felt a bit jealous. Foundation Establishment stage allowed them to use their Qi freely and one of the effect that it provided was a thin layer of defense around their body.
While it might be thin, it was the greatest difference between Body Training Stage and Foundation Establishment Stage. In addition, those at body training would find it hard to break that thin layer of Qi to wound Foundation Establishment Cultivators.
After all, they couldn't do the same thing.
"They're entering the water."
"I know."
Lin Xiao was watching while trying to focus on recovering his Qi. He felt that trying to divide his mind to do two things at once was very difficult. In the end, he gave up and patted Wenren Yu.
"You watch them first. I need to recover my Qi."
"Alright."
Wenren Yu stayed still while Lin Xiao already meditate. The sky was turning bright slowly but the three elders was stuck near the shore of the lake. It was as if there was an invisible power that stopped them from getting close to the lake.
Watching from afar, Wenren Yu could see that the three of them already started quarreling once again for some unknown reason. This made him wonder if those powerful cultivators actually had the habit of quarreling.
"I'm done, your turn."
"Ok."
The amount of Qi in body training stage was no that much, so they didn't really need a long time if they wished to recover it. Lin Xiao looked at the three people quarreling in the lake and the corner of his lips twitched.
Did they even know what they were doing?
After some time passed, Lin Xiao suddenly sensed faint movement from the lake. His eyes narrowed when he sensed the rich Qi that suddenly spread from the lake. The dense Qi felt as if it was going to suffocate them.
"Gah!"
