《Rise of the Great Emperor 》Chapter 84: Connected Cave

The rocks and debris littered the cave's floor. Lin Yun looked helplessly at the sight of the rocks and kicked them out of the cave along with Wenren Yu. On the other hand, Lin Xiao continued to punch at the wall.
"Don't you have pickaxe, Brother?" Lin Yun asked helplessly.
"This is also good for exercise. Why don't you follow me along, Yun?" Lin Xiao asked excitedly, punching forward once more.
It was rare that he had something he wanted to destroy. Since he had been learning Mountain Punch for some time, he also wanted to test its power. Punching the rocky wall didn't sound like a bad idea.
"That's…"
"Let's just train," Wenren Yu added helplessly. After knowing Lin Xiao for some time, he knew that it was impossible to put words into Lin Xiao's head when the man had already decided on something. Since it was only a training session, there was nothing wrong from them punching the wall.
Lin Yun looked at the wall helplessly and began to exercise too. They all continuously destroying the wall and then throw the rock outside into the large lake. For some reason, the water didn't decrease in the slightest bit.
Lin Xiao was happy that he could finally punch something to his heart content. He focused on making sure that he did the stance right and then continued to exert more and more power. The rocks were destroyed quickly as Lin Xiao learned how to control the direction of the force better.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The sound of people destroying the wall could be heard for the entire day. They only stopped once in the evening to eat the rest of the turkey meat before they continued to punch.
Suddenly…
Slip!
"Woah!"
Lin Xiao was stunned when he realized that there was nothing below him. The punch destroyed the wall and showed a large cave heading down. Before he could regain his balance, he fell into hole.

"Brother!" Lin Yun was stunned. He bent down near the cave's entrance and looked around.
"I'm fine!" muffled sound could be heard from below.
Lin Yun heaved a sigh of relief. "We'll come down soon."
Wenren Yu tied the rope onto a strong rock at the wall then give it to Lin Yun. The two of them climbed down the vertical cave carefully.
Below, Lin Xiao was stunned by the sudden fall, but he managed to slow his fall by using the fallen rocks and kicked them to create opposite force. Thankfully, it was not that height and soon, he reached the bottom.
Except for some rocks around him, Lin Xiao didn't see anything else. He looked around him and frowned when he realized that it looked somewhat familiar. The light from the wall before him allowed him to see even in this dark cave.
"Primordial Light Night Moss?" Lin Xiao muttered to himself.
He stood up and looked around. Indeed, it was familiar. As he walked to the other side, he noticed the room that Lin Yun had arranged to place his herbs before and also the lake where it was connected to the river.
All of a sudden, Lin Xiao's expression turned weird.
"Brother!"
"I'm over here," Lin Xiao replied and his head popped from the location where he was. He looked at Lin Yun with an awkward expression. "It seems that the cave above and this one below is connected to each other."
"This…"
Even Lin Yun was stunned when he realized that the two caves were connected. The rocks prevented them from coming here, but after Lin Xiao destroyed enough rocks, the natural cave eventually connected to each other.
Before long, Wenren Yu came and also checked the place with them. He was utterly speechless too.

"Well, I can fish here." Lin Xiao pointed to the small lake that was connected to the river. "For the time being we can just stay here and practice to our hearts' content. When it's time, we're going out to see the world outside."
The water outside didn't seem like it would go away soon. Besides, Lin Xiao had already made enemies out of the village because of Su Han and Elder Xu. If those people found out that he had killed Elder Xu, he would be surrounded and might even be killed.
Lin Yun stretched his body. "After New Year, it'll be the time for sect selection in the city. Do you want to go, Brother?"
There was always sect selection once a year. However, Lin Xiao didn't participate early this year because he was only Body Training Rank 5. It was only recently that his progress soared quickly to the point that he reached Body Training Rank 7.
"It didn't sound that bad."
"You want to join sects?" Wenren Yu asked with bewilderment. He used to be part of Taiyi Sect but thinking of his old sect would make him very unwilling to join a new one.
He couldn't part with his old sect that easily.
Lin Xiao shrugged. "Not really, but I want to see the selection."
"Oh."
"Well, we can also harvest a lot of valuable herbs from outside." Lin Xiao grinned. "It seems that we're going to be able to advance faster if we stay here."
Lin Xiao and Wenren Yu were both Body Training Rank 7 while Lin Yun was Body Training Rank 6. There were still a few more months before New Year, so advancing another rank shouldn't be that hard.
Wenren Yu nodded. "Alright, we'll train quietly here."
"Good."

Luster
Growing up with her recently deceased mother’s addiction and her own struggles with gender identity, June Fujiwara was not a nice person. Gaining powers from nearly being murdered didn’t change that, and neither did becoming a mercenary to fund her transition. It took horrific manipulation, the resulting trauma, and the family that helped her through it all. Luster is a derivative work based on Worm by Wildbow (John C. McCrae) that begins prior to Worm and although it doesn't show straight away, the story is very AU.
