《Rise of the Great Emperor 》Chapter 203: Examination Grounds (2)

Several more students walked out and their name was written. Some of them only passed the first stage while some others passed the second stage. Very quickly, the ranking already listed their names.
Xia Ye walked after a few minutes and his name was clearly written as one who had passed. Based on the way he looked like, he didn't seem tired at all as if he was only walking on the park.
"See, I passed."
"Hmm."
Lin Xiao noticed that Xia Ye had just passed the first stage. It seemed as if he didn't have any intention to have better ranking for the reward. Looking at how nonchalant Xia Ye looked, Lin Xiao nodded in agreement.
That was his plan too.
Just pass the necessary stage then walked out without trying the higher stage.
They all patiently waited the students to finish their examination before entering. Unfortunately, some students were kicked out of the academy when they didn't even pass the first stage. Teacher Su Luo glanced at them coldly then used her Qi to drag them out, not bothering to listen to their nonsense.
"You only have one chance. If you can't even pass the first stage, you'll be kicked out," Lin Yun murmured. It might be savage, but it was just how the rules was. Besides, if they were younger than 20 years old and not 20 years old yet this year, they still could attempt to try again next year.
There was no restriction that said they were not allowed to repeat taking the test again after being kicked out.
"Most of them are already 20 years old," Lu Jian shook his head with pity.
"How do you know?"
"Well, I'm used with the work of intelligence organization, so I already have the list of all the students including their current rank. There are some of them who managed to breakthrough under the severe torture from our teacher too," Lu Jian said proudly.

His parents were working in intelligence organization that worked by gathering information on other people. He might not like the job that much, but he had learned how to gather information swiftly. Using the methods he knew, he managed to obtain the list of the names and also their rank.
Lin Xiao was astonished and looked at Lu Jian with appreciation. "It seems that you're quite talented too."
"Well, I'm not like someone who holed himself in his room except for the time to study," Lu Jian added.
Lin Xiao: "…"
Over the past three months, they had all learned that it was truly the easiest to tease and make fun of Lin Xiao. While he might retaliate if they were enemies, he would go easy when it came to his friends. They all had already started to get used with his slightly unique temper.
After there were more than 500 students who had done their test, Lin Xiao led the other seven to take their test.
"Just do enough."
"Yes."
"Got it."
"I know."
Everyone answered with a grin on their faces. They knew that for the first test, they shouldn't showcase their power yet and only passed the stage that was comparable to their current rank.
Lin Xiao entered the building and looked around with curiosity. In the first level, he could see that the one standing in front of him was a teacher. The teacher looked at him and nodded. "You'll be fighting against me. I'll only show power comparable to Body Training Rank 8."
"Please guide me, Teacher."
"Hmm."
Swish!
Lin Xiao rushed forward, chasing after the teacher. He could see that the teacher was trying to move to the left side, so he immediately punched forward in the trajectory where the teacher would be.

Tep!
"You pass." The teacher smiled.
Lin Xiao was stunned. "That easy?"
"If I'm an ordinary Body Training Rank 8, I would have been thrown back from your attack. You're not even using any skill but let me remind you, Brat. Don't even underestimate your enemies."
Hearing that, Lin Xiao nodded solemnly. The reason why he didn't use any skill when punching forward was because he was thinking that his enemies was nothing more than Body Training Rank 8. However, the teacher warned him to not underestimate those at lower ranking.
He had to use all of his power from the very beginning.
'Right, I should just use all of my power no matter what. If I don't want to showcase my power to others, I only need to just not attempt it.'
Lin Xiao cupped his hand. "Thank you for your guidance, Teacher."
"Go up."
"Yes!"
Lin Xiao walked to the stairs and headed to the second floor. He was still very curious deep inside of him, but he tried to restrain his eyes from looking around. It couldn't be helped, this was the first time he entered a building that was filled with runes all over the wall.
Not to mention, the room seemed bigger than what it looked like from outside. This made him utterly curious about how the room was constructed in the very first place.
"Oh, another one who passed," a woman was inside the room. She stretched her body and then waved her hand to Lin Xiao. "Come, I'll only use Body Training Rank 9 power."
"Ok."
Swish!
This time, Lin Xiao didn't hesitate and rushed forward. His eyes were watching the teacher's movement very carefully and then used Mountain Punch to deliver an attack towards her.
His speed and power were all above her when she was only using the power comparable to Body Training Rank 9.
Swish!
The attack barely missed and Lin Xiao swiftly side stepped. His other hand punched forward using the very same skill.
Bam!
"Not bad." The woman smiled. Her hand was blocking Lin Xiao and assessed the power he was using. Internally, he was wondering where this little monster crept up. The power that he used was more than enough to push her back and forced her to defend with power comparable to Body Training Rank 10.

The Dao of Magic
Here I am, sitting on a mountain so far away from civilisation it might as well be the godforsaken arse of the world, about to ascend. Can't wait to leave this crapfest of a planet... Turns out that the higher ups decided that an unaffiliated rogue like me is too big of a risk to let run around free. Seems like this entire cultivation world is a late stage capitalist money making machine for the powers that be in the higher realms, and me stealing the good loot in front of their descendants and sect disciples noses finally pissed them off enough to take action. First, they sent all the sect masters and hidden dao protectors to off me - which failed, obviously. Heh, afterwards they simply bitch slapped me out of their universe though. That is interesting and all, but I just woke up in a valley watching some critters murder each other while trying not to freak out about how bad it smells here.Soo… where the fuck am I? Why is that deer fighting a feathery squirrel? Why am I teaching this baby rabbit saved from a cannibalistic mother how to kick beings in the face with the power of qi?Releases a couple of times a week! Re: Dragonize
After an unexpected turn of events, Drew must now survive in a world full of challenges with life-or-death stakes. Gone are the days when the biggest problems to face were awkward small-talk at physics department luncheons or mountains of lab work; this former physicist is now adrift in an unfamiliar land without any equipment. Now, Drew's only tool (if it can be called that) is a System, which provides constant reminders of all of the things that are still out of reach for a low-level being who's just arrived in a new world. Luckily, Drew has one powerful asset when taking on the challenges of this new world: surviving violent conflict is a lot easier when you have the power of a dragon at your disposal. Still, Drew has always considered violence a last resort. Why turn to fists (or claws) when a bit of quiet consideration might expose a better path forward? Maybe a life of quiet contemplation is still within reach for this former academic researcher. ...Or maybe not. It probably won't be a life of bloodless pacifism. Additional information for those who wish to calibrate their expectations (I'm adding this based on a few comments I received from readers who feel that the story is not what they expected from a dragon-themed story): Re: Dragonize is not a power fantasy -- or at least, it's not intended to be one. Re: Dragonize is a progression fantasy starting with a protagonist who must start at the bottom (or close to it), and work gradually upwards, making incremental progress with plenty of setbacks along the way. The protagonist, as someone coming from the world of academia, tends to be cautious, methodical, and contemplative. As such, expect this story to contain more than a few digressions as the main character takes the time to pontificate on a variety of topics ranging from Newtonian physics and horology to the nature of existence and the ethical dilemmas associated with being an obligate carnivore.
