《Rise of the Great Emperor 》Chapter 424: Day H

Time passed swiftly.
Lin Xiao didn't have any plan to get involved in so many complicated matters and threw it to the one who was more capable. While he did learn some things, he would not force himself on things that in his eyes, only making his head hurt.
"I could never understand why the tax rate is like this," Lin Xiao grumbled when he was reading the finance book in front of him. In his opinion, the high number was a bit bizarre and hard to understand.
Princess Lan Yi Hua looked at her husband helplessly. When it came to the nobles' intention, Lin Xiao could guess and even counter. But when it came to finance and things like this, he couldn't understand the detail.
He knew the basic, though.
"There's no more time to study. It's already the time for the inheritance. We should leave," Lin Yun reminded from outside. If he didn't manage to call Lin Xiao and Princess Lan Yi Hua, Fan Ling would roast him alive because she had been itching to reach the destination.
"Coming."
Lin Xiao and Princess Lan Yi Hua walked out of the house. Han Jiang wanted to follow, but Lin Xiao had arranged him to stay in Sun Dragon Academy. When things turned for the worse, they would be saver to stay in Sun Dragon Academy since the Royal Family didn't dare to make complete mess.
They only dared to be slightly arrogant.
The teleportation center was filled with people. Prince Lin Yan would come with him but Prince Lin Xian and Prince Lin San would stay in the academy. There was no need for them to come along because their ability was not sufficient enough.
Swish!
Lin Xiao opened his eyes and scanned the area around him. It was far away from the previous location where he was staying near the capital city. If he had to say, it might be miles away because the terrain was completely different.

The only thought inside his mind at this time was: SO HOT!
"Gah, why is this place so hot? Even if I'm already a cultivator, I feel like my skin is burned." Lin Xiao looked around in confusion.
The place was desert and there was nothing but sand around the building. However, everyone walked in one direction.
"The Phoenix Fire is so strong that it can penetrate your defense." Prince Lin Xian smiled bitterly while trying to regulate his Qi better to make sure that he would not die because of the heat. It was indeed so hot that one would wonder whether they were dreaming or not.
After all, once one had become a cultivator, they would no longer feel hot and cold temperature that much. Unless the temperature was extreme, they would not be affected that much. Only some people such as alchemist would pay close attention to the temperature in their surroundings because it was important for them.
"Damn, can't the phoenix contain her fire?" Lin Xiao mumbled as he also followed the crowd. No matter how much he disliked it, he still had to follow to the direction of the inheritance.
'You're weaker when facing fire because your element is lake. If it's water, you might be able to cool yourself better.'
'Why are you not water dragon instead of Lake Dragon, ah? That way my life will be better!'
'Nonsense! The Water Dragon Inheritor is still alive!'
'Ugh, it's so hot!'
Lin Xiao was already circulating his Qi, but he still could feel the scorching hot temperature on his skin. Looking at the surroundings, he felt as if he was nothing more than a weak lamb because the others were faring better than him.
But Lin Hu's words also reminded him that he was not the only Emperor's Inheritance's Inheritor. There were several of them all across the world. To be exact, there were eight of them in total.

Would they meet each other in the future?
Lin Xiao didn't know. He didn't have any interest to meet with those people, though. They might not able to hold themselves back and tried to fight him. As someone with low ranked cultivation, Lin Xiao refused to be placed in dangerous situation and fought against those people.
He had enough of being chased and had to keep low profile.
They all soon reached an area where there was a large rock at the front. The rock was protected by some kind of Qi layer that prevented everyone from coming in. However, the girls were all gathered at the front with hope that they would be able to get the Phoenix Inheritance.
"I'll be going now." Princess Lan Yi Hua pointed to the front.
Lin Xiao nodded. "Take care."
Looking at the number of woman, Lin Yun felt worried on Fan Ling's behalf. "Are you sure you'll be fine?"
"It's not like those who fail will die." Fan Ling's lips twitched when she saw Lin Yun's gaze. She shrugged. "If I don't see the chance to succeed, I'll retreat before falling deeper. But if I have the chance to succeed, I'll move forward."
"You…" Lin Yun felt helpless when facing Fan Ling's fiery temper. He knew for sure that it was not easy to make Fan Ling willingly gave up since Phoenix Inheritance was simply too rare.
Lin Xiao looked at the crowd then asked, "Can men participate too?"
"HUH?"
"You're asking whether men can obtain Phoenix Inheritance?"
"Yep."
"Well, it's not impossible." Prince Lin Yan looked at Lin Xiao. "But do you really want to fight against these girls for the sole inheritance that women could possibly have?"
"Ah…"
It was not like men couldn't get the phoenix inheritance, but it was because women couldn't get the other inheritance that the men willingly step back. If they took the inheritance, they would be taking an inheritance that was supposed to be able to make a woman get stronger.
Not everyone was that shameless and desperate to try taking the inheritance in front of so many people like this.

Lone: The Wanderer [Dropped Version (includes original draft of the rewrite's first volume)]
Nine-to-five. The daily grind. Life. Painful years of school. Working as a slave for some undeserving corporate big-wig. The monotonous life of unemployment. We all experience this in one way or another, and we can all conclude one thing: it's dull. Such a fact rings true even for the fabled Lone Immortus, a powerful nine-tailed Golden Foxkin. However, what would you do if your monotony was suddenly ground to a halt and you were thrown out of your comfort zone along with a young girl forgotten by time? Perhaps you might have done things differently, been more organised, immediately died, gained control of the world in a matter of days, but this is Lone's tale, not yours. Watching two insecure people struggle to survive and find their place in an unfamiliar land just might be enjoyable to witness. Who knows? One thing's for certain: it won't be an easy path for them to tread, and what could possibly be more entertaining than watching people endure hardships and grow? I know of at least eight gods that would answer with, 'Absolutely nothing.' I wonder, after seeing this journey from start to finish, how would you answer? [Goal of 2 chapters per week, the only exceptions being announced breaks or emergencies] A/N: This story is in the middle of a rewrite, so please forgive any noticeable plot holes and wonky chapter numbers. I am working on it every day, so understanding would be greatly appreciated. The new cover art is a courtesy of the very kind and talented ssddx. This novel is a participant in The Writer's Pledge
