《Disciple, Don't Cause Trouble, Master Won't Leave the Mountain!》Chapter 122: The Rules of the Chess Game

Jiang Yun walked out of the cabin after saying this.
Qin Xiaoxi was left in a daze on the chair.
What Jiang Yun said was not without reason. It was Qin Xiaoxi who had put too much pressure on herself. She wondered how her sister was doing in Thunder City.
At this moment, Kong Li and the other two were chatting idly in the Qin residence.
Kong Li was sitting on a stone bench in the pavilion, while Xiong Ji and Yu Sisi were leaning against the pillars on the left and right side of the pavilion. Of course, this was the garden of the Qin residence.
Around the pavilion was a lotus pond full of vitality. Although the lotus flowers had not bloomed yet, there were still many lotus leaves floating on the clear pond. If one looked closely.., one could even see the koi playing in the pond.
Yu Sisi took aim and threw the fish food in her hand into the pond.
Soon, there was movement on the surface of the water. A few koi fought for the fish food floating on the surface of the water. Yu Sisi looked carefully. One of the black koi was the fiercest. With a swing of its body, it took the lead to take a large part of the fish food.
"These days are getting more and more boring." Kong Li toyed with his fan and placed a white piece on the chessboard.
At first glance, it turned out that he was playing chess with himself.
"Do you know how to play that?" Xiong Ji looked at him with disdain.
"Isn't it just connecting five pieces? What's so difficult about that?" Kong Li waved his fan and placed another black piece on the chessboard.
At this point, Yu Sisi looked over as well.

In the next second, she burst out laughing.
"This is a Go chessboard. How can it be connecting five pieces in a line?" Yu Sisi teased Kong Li, who was trying his best to figure out the chessboard, "Others play Go themselves till endgame. Yet, you're playing Go-bang with yourself. Are you going against yourself?"
"What Go and Go-bang... These two clearly look exactly the same, okay? Why are there so many rules for human things? ?" How could Kong Li be willing to be teased like this, his tsundere little temper could not stand it at all.
"It's not the same. The Go-bang chessboard is made up of 15 parallel lines of equal distance, with a total of five crossing points." Yu Sisi quickly stood up as she said this and went to Kong Li's side. "But your chessboard has 19 parallel lines, and there are a total of nine crossing points. So, this is Go."
Kong Li and Xiong Ji nodded when they heard this.
It was natural that Kong Li didn't understand. Kong Li was just a peacock of the Peacock Royal Family, so he naturally didn't know much about human toys.
"I really didn't expect you to know so much." Kong Li nodded his head thoughtfully. Suddenly, he tilted his head and looked at Yu Sisi with a wicked smile. "Do you want to play a round?"
"Go? ?" Yu Sisi looked at him in shock.
"Tell me about the rules of Go." Kong Li hurriedly messed up the chess pieces. All the white and black pieces on the Go board were put into the chess piece box again.
"Can you understand?" Yu Sisi looked at Kong Li in confusion. However, when she saw Kong Li's serious figure while fanning himself, she didn't want to keep it a secret.

"Tell me. How can you know that I can't understand if you don't tell me?" Kong Li put down the fan in his hand and feigned seriousness. "You see, since I'm from the Peacock Royal Family, my brain is definitely not bad."
"Oh, please." Yu Sisi and Xiong Ji said in unison.
"Hey! This is your ignorance." Kong Li was recalcitrant when he heard that.
"Listen carefully first." Yu Sisi did not want to continue arguing with Kong Li because it would be too tiring. Therefore, she decided to introduce the rules of Go. "Just like Go-bang, place the pieces on these crossing points."
As Yu Sisi said this, she picked up a white piece with her two fingers and placed it on one of the crossing points on the chessboard.
"This is how you place the pieces in sequence. As long as the pieces of the same color are maintained on two adjacent squares, on this basis, they will then become 'qi'."
"What is 'qi'? ?"The two of them asked Yu Sisi in confusion.
"Qi... let's understand it as an inseparable whole." Yu Sisi held her head, then, she placed a black piece on the side of the white piece. "However, if there is a different colored piece on the side of this piece, it would not be able to form a whole. If it still does not form a whole when the game is settled, then, this piece on the chessboard would not count."
The two of them nodded after listening.
It was a mystery as to how Xiong Ji was doing, but Kong Li was already in a daze from what he heard. He did not even understand what Yu Sisi was saying. Instead, he almost fell asleep from Yu Sisi's explanation.
Why did this human thing sound so complicated? Kong Li was also confused by what he heard.
"During the final round, as long as one side announces that he has no more chess pieces and the other party acknowledges it, then the game will be over. Finally, count the number of chess pieces of each party on the chessboard and we'll then know who won and who lost.
"How is it? Do you understand?"
Yu Sisi looked at the two of them. However, at this moment, Kong Li and Xiong Ji had already begun to yawn uncontrollably.
"I can't understand." Kong Li shook his head helplessly, indicating that he really did not understand.
Yu Sisi's face was speechless. It seemed that even though she had talked for so long, Kong Li did not understand one bit at all. However, she could not blame him. Go was something that had existed on the mainland for at least a thousand years. This kind of product of culture was indeed an extremely obscure and difficult thing for Kong Li, who was from the Peacock Clan. If he could really figure out how to play go this time, how great would that be? ? ?
Forget it.
Yu Sisi shook her head.
"Why don't we play Go-bang instead? It's really obscure even after talking about it for half a day. The chessboard is bigger but that's fine." Yu Sisi waved her hand helplessly. Then, she sat opposite Kong Li and picked up the white chess piece box and placed it in front of herself.

Carus - Libertas
participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge and also having a go at NaNoWriMo this November. This was a first draft published as it was written for Nanowrimo November 2020. A little rough around the edges, I hope to come back and edit at some point, and then continue the story on. In the grand scheme of things Elias was nothing special. Which was why he was surprised by a random company on a new colony planet buying out his contract. That was the problem with the large companies that ruled the colonies, once they owned your contract, they owned you. Imagine the greater surprise when he learnt that the new company held the promise of freedom. Not from the constant battle against the Swarm that were also trying to claim the colony planets for their own. Nor from the Crust, the mysterious substance that covered the same planets and held the resources they all fought for. No, the freedom from being oppressed by those with more power and to finally decide where to go and where to set down roots and call home.
