"What… What are you saying Alex?" Xu Meilin shuddered. However, Alex had already dived back into the messy battlefield, amidst the roaring flames.

The young girl could only gulp looking at the woman who had clearly gone crazy? 

But she didn't know why but she had a good feeling this time; as if she didn't have to worry about the outcome.

Just like Alex was following her intuition, she as well decided to do what felt right to her, follow the path that was in front of her.

"Let's go. Let's go!" Behind her Luo Zu's voice sounded and she began running away along with everyone else.

The group then ran away and Xu Meilin shot to the front leading everyone. 

Subconsciously, without realizing it, she took the same path the two guys had taken and ran in the direction where the military camp was located.

Alex, on the other hand, spun on her legs. The flames around her weirdly followed her rhythm and twirled around just as she was doing.

"Holy hell!" She grinned. The feeling of controlling such a huge massive amount of power felt extremely intoxicating.

But she didn't know how long her mana reserves were going to last. So she snapped out of her fun and merriment and started lobbing fireballs left and right.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

She targeted the wounded flesh and the charred injuries on the centipede and attacked them viciously. 

And when she felt as if her energy was being completely drained out, Alex took out a mana core from the pouch tied to her waist and replenished her reserves.

"I can do this." She growled and swung her dagger at the one coming right at her. "I have already killed one before, I can kill them all."

She took out another mana core and popped it into her mouth as she sent out a full blast of fireball into the beast's belly through its jagged mouth and the rows of teeth.

"Ah!" Alex suddenly realized that she hadn't absorbed the mana core from the beast the last time around, so this time she paid attention to the dying beast and exploding mass of chunks.

She evaded a beast's head coming towards her from the other side and dived towards the severed head of the centipede. 

"Be inside. Be inside." She muttered under her breath as she ripped out the shiny orb, absorbing it completely.

Alex shivered as a wave of energy swept through her body, instantly easing away all the accumulated pain and stress.

"2 down! 6 more to go!" A fiery devilish grin appeared on her face and her eyes locked onto the next target.

Alex, now understood why the dog always jumped at every chance she got to hunt. The more you hunted, the stronger you became!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Loud explosions continued echoing as Alex single-handedly fought off the remaining centipedes.

Meanwhile… a bit farther away from where she was…

"It looks like they somehow managed to survive," Geming muttered. 

He noticed that Fang Yuan had a serious expression on his face and turned around to look at him questioningly. 

"What happened? Didn't you want to help them? That should be the sound of the grenades exploding."

Fang Yuan nodded, still engrossed in his thoughts. "Hey, tell me this. What do you think will happen when loud noises repeatedly sound from a single area in an almost deserted city?"

Geming's expression darkened. "That's right. I forgot. That's why we never used the grenades despite always having them with us." 

"We need to hurry. We need to inform others and move to another location. This place might not be safe anymore."

"Hmm… Yes." Fang Yuan absentmindedly nodded. He as well thought the same, but he was also thinking about something else or rather someone else.

While these two were distracted, a giant crow circled above them in the sky and elegantly dove at them with a single graceful flap of its wings.

"Watch out," Geming muttered and materialized his scythe. 

Fang Yuan as well immediately positioned the rifle on his shoulder and shot the incoming bird that was zooming towards them like an arrow.

The bird got perfectly hit in one of its eyes and the next bullet injured the other eye and as it came down plummeting to the ground, Geming cleanly sliced it into two using his scythe.

"Go ahead, brother. You take the core." Geming said and Fang Yuan nodded, quickly absorbing its core. 

"It has already started. More beasts are going to come at us now. Let's go faster." 

Geming lifted the corpse and swung it on his back and the two of them were about to move when they heard footsteps behind their back.

Xu Meilin along with a large group of people were running towards the two of them!

"Fuck! The centipedes are going to come next. Run! We need to move! Why are these assholes following us!!!" 

Geming started panicking and he started running, but when he turned he noticed that his friend was still standing.

"Yuan! What the hell??"

Fang Yuan blankly replied. "She is not with them. She is fighting them all alone by herself."

"Huh? So what? That's not our problem! Idiot! Don't think about random strangers. We cannot afford to be kind right now? Don't you understand that?"

He dashed back and grabbed the man by his hand, but Fang Yuan did not budge. He bitterly smiled at his friend and shook his head. 

"I think I will probably regret this decision but I will regret it more if I didn't even try."

Geming was confused. "What the hell are you talking about? What are you blabbering?"

Fang Yuan did not explain to them and started running, but now in the other direction, towards the place where the loud explosive sounds echoed. "Get these people to the base and inform the Commander."

"What are you doing? Where are you going?" Geming couldn't believe what was happening.

"I am going to have some illegal fun! Aha ha ha ha" Fang Yuan's voice echoed as he ran past Xu Meilin, Luo Zu, and the group of injured people.

"You idiot! Come back here!" In the end, Geming could only sigh helplessly. He looked at the people who were all staring back at him, equally confused as to what was happening.

"Let's go. Follow me." He clenched his fists and muttered and started moving once again.
