《Psycho X Psychic》Chapter 98 - Another Gathering

Meanwhile, on the other side of the cafe, Hanon noticed Iesa but didn't think about it too much. This is not usually a place for students with limited allowance but if they do have money, what's holding them back.
Instead, he was focused on Teren's further explanation about the 'contract' he was offered. After talking for the whole lunch, both of them have reached a consensus.
Teren was thrilled about it but Hanon seemed a little depressed and anxious.
Iesa was the first to come out, saying that she had somewhere to go. Unfortunately, she failed to ask her question for the day however, she really has somewhere to go and she has to prepare.
The end of lunch was approaching and the meeting time was arriving.
Near the plaza, Dan parked his van to a parking spot.
"Okay... huu... I got it."
He sighed. Before this, he had a fight with his parents since he suddenly wants to cut classes and borrow the van for camping. Even he knew that it was sudden and the chance of his parents allowing him was small.
But after a few bickering, he was able to persuade them in the end.
Dan was not anxious, in fact, he was relieved. In his head, he had already done his part, bring his van. He even brought his favorite guitar. It was obvious he didn't think too much into it. Nick is a gangster, so what? He's just alone. Including him, there's Josh and the athletic Mike. He didn't believe that if things went physical, they would lose.
'And that Teren seemed to be oppressed too. If we saw a chance, maybe he will help us against Nick.'
"No... the problem is what lies after that."
Confident that what he envisioned will happen, Dan considered the future of it.

"What if Nick's brother retaliates?"
He sighed. At that point, they have no choice but to call the police or the school. He stepped out of the van to see Mike walking towards him. He seemed depressed, Dan thought.
"Hi" Mike waved with a forced smile.
"H-hi."
"..."
"..."
Of course, it would be awkward between them.
Catherine then arrived as well. Thinking that the awkward atmosphere would finally break, Dan smiled but seeing her pretty face, he noticed that she too was not in the mood.
His mood was soured as well, blaming the too for being worrywarts. If only he was not directly one of the reasons why this happened, he could've told them what he was thinking, however, that was not the case.
Soon, Josh arrived as he was brought there by his brother in a luxurious car. He brought a big bag with him as he was tasked with providing the tents which others don't have.
"W-woah, I didn't know you're this rich, Josh."
"Well... ahahaha..." Josh laughed as he scratched his head but it seemed like it was not his favorite topic. Sensing this, Dan swallowed his questions.
"So... where-"
Just before Josh asked, Eline and Mira arrived. Just like the others, they are in their casual clothing. As high school girls, they looked dazzling. Catherine would be the jewel with them but with how depressed she looked, she didn't exude that usual brightness and cheerfulness.
Seeing this, both Mira and Eline tried to talk to her. The three of them held hands and like some sort of secret girls talk, they formed a circle, whispering about something. This left the three boys around.
"Umm... Mike, sorry..." Josh's eyes wandered as he tried to reconcile with his friend.
Mike sighed and patted Josh and Dan's shoulders.

"No... no... it's true that I and Catherine were changing and that's affecting our group. Although that's still not enough to excuse for what you did, that does not mean I will hate you, guys."
Seeing this chance, Dan apologized too and after that, they all laughed. Hearing them reconcile, the group of girls felt lighter too but soon, Catherine revealed something that would shock the two girls.
"Eh, what?"
"No, Catherine, I don't like this...!" Eline trembled.
"S-sorry, I have no choice."
But since they were whispering to each other, the boys didn't hear it.
"But we still need to be careful." Mike turned serious again. Josh and Dan nodded and tried to hear him out, "Nick is not the one we should be-"
"What about me?"
The light atmosphere that was created after reconciliation between friends immediately disappeared as Nick appeared before them.
Seeing that no one else was there, they were relieved. Except for Mike and Catherine, they all thought one thing-
'This guy thinks he can handle all of us alone just because he's some gangster and have a name for himself.'
Just as they were falling into a hostile bunch, a pair of people arrived. One was still in his school uniform, the other... in his school uniform too. The difference was that the former was a student and the latter was a teacher.
"E-eh, Sir Hanon!?"
Eline was the first to react.
"I learned this outing from Teren and I cannot let this go unsupervised."
Hanon said harsh enough to reprimand his students for cutting classes but lenient enough to not to obstruct the said 'outing'
Usually, a teacher joining a ground of friends' outing would ruin the occasion but this time, they were greatly ecstatic.
With a glance, it looks like Nick was not informed by this as well. They all looked at Teren and thought-
'Good job, Teren!'
Of course, with the exception of Mike and Catherine. Although they were confused about Hanon's appearance as well.
Nick saw Teren glanced at him and nodded.
"T-that would be great, Sir Hanon. Since we're all here, let's go."
When everyone was about to enter the van, Catherine raised her hand and said.
"There's still one person who's not here."
"Huh? Who?" Nick scratched his head, not knowing why the group is increasing.
Just as the others were thinking who it was, she arrived. Mira and Eline were not surprised at her arrival since Catherine already informed them earlier.
Out of them all, Teren was the most speechless since that person was Iesa.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

Blurb:Layla lives in a multi-planar universe where gods and superhuman immortals roam. Immortality is possible but only to those with money, power, and connections. Layla isn't worried about that, though. She's just trying to pay the rent. Robinhood style, of course. Atom is the self-proclaimed Mantle of Procrastination and good times. He Ascended from Earth a thousand years ago. A millennial NEET shut-in at heart, he enjoys video games and holo tube while spending time with his female companion, who does all his deific duties for him. Join the crazy adventures of a lazy God and his unwilling follower's rise to power. The first few Arc's of the story is an Academy arc. I think you will know if you like the story by chapter 6 as the first chapter may be confusing (or sucks, idk I like it so whatever)._________ The story is a slow burn. If you are expecting quick progression, I suggest looking at some of the other great stories on RR. I personally enjoy and Patreon several, but that's not what I'm writing. That might hurt my chances of trending anytime soon (or ever lol), but that is fine with me. I'm sure some of you will appreciate the story as much as I do in writing it. FAQ: The story has elements of xianxia and wuxia along with some GameLit (at some point). The story takes place in an age where tech has advanced to a complete integration with magic. Imagine everything running on mana or qi instead of electricity, and you will get the idea. There will be crafting but not until later in the story. It's actually a core plot elemenet for Layla. I'm writing this story for my own enjoyment and as a way of relieving stress in my life. I'm not a pro author or a naturally gifted wordsmith. I don't have beta readers and every chapter posted is a first draft. I'm still learning and will strive to improve as I continue the story. If you don't speak up I can't work on improving as an author. I welcome any criticism and encouragement that would help me become a better writer. I can't believe you read this far down! ;) Enjoy the story. --Cover Credit-- Cover art (emblem) by: Oxana Che Cover Design by: Miblart
