《Modern Weapon Summoning System》Chapter 41 - Main Assault

Cole, Wolfie, and Del were preparing to begin an assault on Firma's estate. Del would first start the assault by shooting the archers on the roof using his precision G3. Wolfie and Cole would charge towards the enemy.
The estate was huge. The white wall of that estate seemed to never end due to how large it was. There was also a fountain right after the gate to the estate. Del would climb the brick walls while Cole would charge through the front gate.
Still, it wouldn't be perfect if there was no last-minute briefing from Del. Del pointed out where the full-auto lever of Cole's Uzi was and switched it to full-auto mode so Cole could wreak havoc. Well, not wreak Havoc, but he definitely would cause some damage.
"Charge towards them, aim for their head, and pull the trigger, got it?" Del extended the stock of Cole's Uzi.
"Yup, got it," Cole said.
"Alright, we shall start then," Del aimed his G3 at one of the archers.
He held his breath to stable the iron sight. He held his breath and pulled the trigger of his battle rifle. 7.62x51 Armor-Piercing-Incendiary bullet flew in the direction of the archer on top of the roof. The archer fell to the ground.
"Go, go, go!!!" Del shouted as he aimed at the other archer.
Cole came running alongside invisible Wolfie. Wolfie attacked one of the armored knights and Cole pulled the trigger of his Uzi. One bullet of his Uzi flew to the head of one of the swordsmen and blew his face off.
It wasn't even an exaggeration, the head of the person just disappeared from the high explosive compound inside of the 9x19mm bullets. Cole pulled the trigger of his Uzi one more time to help Wolfie who was biting an enemy.
Cole exploded the head of the mercenary and the rest of the swordmen were trembling in fear after seeing that one of his comrades got his head blown off. They thought that their heavy armor could protect them from a bullet with a tungsten core that was designed to penetrate modern ceramic body armor.
Del climbed the brick wall after Cole managed to divide the attention of the swordmen. He landed on top of the grass and he switched his rifle to full-auto. He had managed to control the heavy recoil of 7.92 Mauser. 7.62 NATO wouldn't be a big issue for him.

Del ran through the small garden. There were still many employees working for Firma apparently. Even after being surrounded like that, there was still a maid that walked around the house or a gardener that was still maintaining the garden.
Nevertheless, Del headed straight into the building without any hesitation. The moment he barged through the door, he realized that he made the grave mistake of not asking whether the workers had been evacuated or not. The estate was still in business as usual. Lots of servants were moving around, and Del couldn't tell who the mages were.
He could just shoot anyone inside of that building, but it seemed that it was not an option. What made him better than a regular criminal if he just shot them all here and there. It was practical, yes, but it was not what Del had in mind.
"Everyone, get on the floor now!!!" Del shouted.
If someone still stood up after that shout, Del would shoot it in the knee with his battle rifle as a safety precaution. Right now, the priorities were getting to Firma as fast as he could or eliminate all the mages that he found.
Del moved slowly in the hallway as every single person in that hallway was lying down on the floor but Del himself. He walked slowly down the hallway while keeping an eye on every door. He kicked every single door that he found.
"GET DOWN ON THE GROUND!!!" Del aimed the end of his gun at an empty room.
The room was empty. Del got out of the room. One of the butlers stood up from the ground. Without any hesitation, Del shot the butler in the leg. He didn't want to take a risk. The butler held his leg in pain as the bullet probably destroyed his leg.
Someone kicked the front door opened. There was also a bark following it. It might be Cole or just Wolfie alone. Del approached the sound source. It was really Cole and Wolfie. Cole destroyed the front door with his fireball spell.
"Del, did you find the mages yet?" Cole asked.
"Nope, but I think I have wounded an old man," Del pointed to the butler.

"Damn, that's an unintended casualty, don't you think?" Cole asked.
"Yup, let's check the rest of the house," Del said.
"Right, but we have Wolfie, let's ask him to smell a mage," Cole said.
"Wolfie, can you scent anyone with high magical aptitude or anyone that might be a mage?" Del asked.
"Well, a mage usually has a certain scent to them," Wolfie said.
"Alright, boy, get them!" Del said.
Wolfie ran through the hallway. Del and Cole ran after Wolfie. Both of them had to follow Wolfie so they could reach the mages. Wolfie ran upstairs. It was expected. Del ran in the large staircase while looking left and right for hostile targets.
If there were an ambush, he would be able to counter it quite easily with the full-auto mode of his battle rifle. They reached the second floor of the estate. The moment they stepped into the second floor, a mage fired a fireball. The fireball exploded and chirped off the wall, creating fragmentations.
The fireball threw Del across the hallway, "Holy shit, what the hell was that?" Del aimed his rifle at the mage that fired the fireball, "Get this!!!" Three 7.62x51 API bullets flew in the direction of the mage.
The first bullet hit an energy barrier that surrounded the mage. It shredded the copper jacket that protected the bullet, but the tungsten core penetrated the shield cleanly and it hit the mage in the head. It also ignited the incendiary compound on the back of the bullet. The rest of the bullets just penetrated cleanly.
Cole helped Del to stand up from the ground, Del wiped the blood that came from the scratches that he got in his face, "Damn, I'm lucky that were only scratches."
"Well, you definitely give her more than scratches," Cole looked at the body that was lying dead on the ground.
"Let's get Firma then," Del checked the remaining bullet inside of his magazine.
Wolfie continued running to search for the other mage. Hopefully, this one was rather easier than the mage that they had just fought. Even if the battle was short, Del didn't exactly leave unscratched without any wound.
"How the hell did I get wounded but you didn't?" Del asked.
"Lucky, I guess?" Cole shrugged.
Del ran until Wolfie finally attacked a certain butler. Del's thought was correct, there might be a mage hiding among the employees. Without any hesitation, Del pulled the trigger of his G3 and bullets were flying into the direction of that butler.
"Damn, that was easy," Del said.
"Don't underestimate them, Del," Cole said.
"Yeah, yeah, I know that," Del said.
Del continued walking in the hallway while holding his battle rifle firmly. Eventually, Wolfie stood in front of a room. Wolfie barked loudly in front of the door. The door seemed to be housing Firma Dela Rose.
"Cole, kick the door!" Del shouted.
"Alright!" Cole kicked the door.
The moment the door was kicked, another fireball flew in the direction of Del's face. Luckily, it missed his face and instead landed at the wall behind him. Del responded by firing bullets at that mage.
"Damn it, does every single bloody mage in this godforsaken world use fireball?" Del asked.
"Perhaps?" Cole shrugged.
Del walked to the dead body of the mage. There was no reason for a mage to stay inside of a room except for a particular reason. In theory, the mage would be protecting Firma Dela Rose. Del started searching the room.
There were only some possible spots for Firma to hide. Either she hid in her bathroom, her own wardrobe, or under the bed. There was simply no other place to hide for Firma unless he wanted to be killed by the guards outside.
Wolfie barked in front of the wardrobe.
Del opened the wardrobe, "Well, well, aren't you the little naughty one?"

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Born in an arcology, she was assigned a job in the megacorporation that raised her almost as soon as she could work. Despite the stability of her corporate life, she wanted something more.
