"........."
Lull reigned over the field, The berserk beasts and the Aemplefort battalion were quieted down by the SSS Rank Beasts' existence and the pressure it gave off.
The troops could feel the optimistic thoughts of victory at the diminishing numbers of the stampedes slipping away from their minds.
All those thoughts and feelings were replaced with fear and despair.
This fear made their heartbeat quicker than ever. Shortly after, they were out of breath, profusely sweating and trembling as their knees quaked.
Those that earlier went onward gallantly against the multitudes of Dark Beasts stood now altogether in the never-ending shadow of fear.
This sole cry of Arachnid had somehow completely broken down their spirit.
Vincent was not an outsider to this too.
When Arachnid proclaimed its presence, he also froze in dread and felt an instant chill that could only be brought by the closeness of death to oneself.
But he soon snapped out of such a trance, Mental attacks like this did not affect him too long thanks to the [Eidetic Library of Knowing].
With weak wording, he inquired about the happening from the system, "S-System, What just happened?"
[It seems like the skill [Scare Cry] was put into effect.]
As the system answered back, Vincent got back his color and strength. '[Scare Cry]? System show me its status?' He asked.
[Name: Arachnid
Danger Threat Level: SSS
Race: Dark Beast
Innate/Skill: Scare Cry, True Shadow Manipulation [High], Shadow Movement, Regeneration [Mid], Ether Leech, Berserker, Iron Shift, Elastic Skin, Night Vision, Ultra Senses, Gluttony; Thou Who Devours, Lord of Poisons, Instinct of Survival]
"The fuck!" Vincent blurted out, shocked at the plethora of skills shown before him, 'Why does it have so many skills!?'
[Because it's an SSS Rank Monster, idiot.]
'You!'
[I advise you to focus and the Beast because it feels like it's focusing on you]
"Huh?"
Vincent peered at the Arachnid and he could see, even though it was so far away. The SSS Rank Dark Beast was staring now at him with gazes filled with bloodlust

How does he know that it's staring at him?
Well, he's the MC, Who else would it stare at?.
Vincent, frightened by the stares, instantly dashed into the army away from it and soon used his illusion skill to make himself imperceivable.
But will that be able to stop the beast?
Losing sight of his mark, Arachnid again roared out in anger before it also dashed forward.
Irrespective of friend or foe, it trampled upon everything beneath it as it locked on the former position of Vincent.
The closer Arachnid got, The more despair came over the Aemplefort army, despair that bestowed them strength to run away.
"DON'T YOU DARE RUN!!!" A strong voice rippled through the area, it put a stop to the cowardly soldiers in their retreat.
They were perplexed at where the voice came from until their sights were set on the extraordinary figure of a lone man standing at the front of the troops.
That man was Luthias Kargar. Aemplefort's army, General of the south.
When the beast comes upon them, He would be the first to be flattened but yet he showed no fear, not despair nor grief.
He only expressed unwavering courage, Almost unnatural.
"HOW DARE YOU LET YOURSELF BE SMITTEN BY FEAR! You who call yourselves warriors!" He shouted out to them, His powerful voice arousing the wind, such a voice spread to all of the troops.
Luthias then turned to them, "Fear is the greatest illusion, a lie your mind chooses to believe. Nothing more and nothing less." He continued
"It will break your body, your mind, and your soul. But men let me tell you, everything that you desire is on the other side of that fear."
"So now that it's upon you my patriotic comrades, Will you abandon it all and run, or will you face it head-on and RISE!"
No one answered, Some were still afraid, others ashamed.
"And if you're still afraid, I want you to think of your mother, your sister, daughter, son, wife. I want you to think of everyone and everything that has made you who you are today."

"WILL YOUR COWARDICE SAVE THEM!?, If you flee at this dire moment, would it guarantee their lives!?"
"TELL ME!"
They responded with silence
Kargar let out a sigh and relaxed, He proceeded to say in a calm voice, "........, We both know the answer. But if any one of you acknowledges it."
Arachnid drew closer, The hundreds of kilometers between them were almost crossed.
"Pick up your god-damned weapon!" He asserted and abruptly the General of Aempleforth began to grow taller, bulkier, bigger until he was at the same height as Arachnid.
"Screech!!!" The beast roared as it came upon the giant of a man, jabbing its pinchers at his exposed back.
The giant of a man evaded the dangerous pinchers and countered with a punch that carried an island-shattering force.
"And FIGHT!!!"
Kargar's enormous punch touched down upon the open beast, sending it soaring back where it came from. Then rushed in after it.
The stunning scenery of a giant man taking on an SSS-Rank Beast rekindled the fate of the army.
Men picked up the weapons they had once dropped in fear and dashed back into the horde with a mighty roar.
The battle was back on.
They rushed towards the still stunned beasts and began to hack through them.
As they did so, they felt that it was much easier to kill these monsters.
That's when they saw that the horde of beasts was no longer in Berserk mode. The screech of the SSS Rank Beast had stunned them out of it.
With this knowledge, their eagerness soured once more adding vigor to their steps.
Vincent a little behind the line also saw the weakness of the beasts but was more immersed in Arachnid.
'System, that thing was focused on me right?' he asked
[Yes, Its intent was on you.]
Vincent glanced back at the army, "If that thing is still here they won't have a chance of winning."
"But since its attention is on me, Maybe I can draw it away from here."
[Isolating the beast from the war,]
"Exactly, It'll improve our odds of winning or at least stall it for possible reinforcements."
[This is too reckless, my advice for you is to portal out of you. But guessing from your expression you are not going to consider my advice.]
He smirked in response, "Nope."
[Sigh, Just keep a portal on standby and retain your ether usage for at least a jump.]
"Yeah, I know."
[Sigh, I really shouldn't have jinxed this.]
"You think!" Vincent blurted out, "Tch, just keep quiet. I'm about to begin"
[Good luck.]
Vincent gave a nod in acknowledgment, then began to cloak himself with the [One With Nature] skill.
'I hope this works' He thought as he moved on with his suicide plan.
///// Aemplefort, Principal's Office /////
In the silent office, The principal sat before his winding looking and observing the flow of the ongoing battle.
Beside him, a figure flashed into being, then whispered into his ears. After delivering its message it faded out of existence.
"......"
"So they failed to kill it," He said to himself.
"Will I have to step in?" He asked himself, His aged eyes of no emotions focused on the figure of Arachnid.
"I will observe further, and if there is a need to do so then I'll intervene …."

The Stars Have Eyes
The universe was a vast, empty, dark, and uncaring place. Then life happened, and the universe was changed forever. Only a teeny-tiny bit, but definitely different. Then again, the universe changes a teeny-tiny bit every second of every day. For instance, if someone were to get off the couch and randomly drink a glass of milk? Bam! One less glass of milk in the universe. Changed forever. Well, excluding any time-travel shenanigans, but anyone who puts a big old hole in the time-space continuum just to un-drink a glass of milk should really reevaluate their priorities. Unless, of course, they were attempting to prevent some massive catastrophe vis-a-vis said glass of milk. Such a scenario is by no means impossible, as one should never underestimate the importance of calcium. Another important tip for any life forms out there is to keep things in perspective. Some look at the vastness of creation in relation to themselves and go, ‘Man, this sucks!’ These people really need to narrow their focus. Sure, they will never affect anything happening on the other end of the galaxy, but so what? That’s way the heck over there, where it doesn’t matter. Therefore, in order to maintain a healthy mindset, it is important to narrow one’s perspective to the things and people that affect them, and that they can affect in turn. But what happens if one is an unfathomable cosmic being from beyond the veil of reality? What happens when such an existence is capable of influencing entire swathes of the universe just by its presence? A creature such as Magh'rathlak the Observer? That particular entity is only about average as far as reality-warping creatures from the dawn of time go, so its influence over the fabric of reality is rather limited. And it still struggles to keep things in perspective. That, among other things, is why it decided to narrow its worldview a bit by compressing the maddening vastness of its being into a single corporeal form. Magh'rathlak had never tried such a feat, but that wasn't about to stop it. After all, how hard could being human possibly be?
