《Shadow Pack Stories [Completed]》Chapter 2: The Mate

One month before the disappearance
Samantha Lykos' POV
"Who's there?" I asked as I was looking around. I don't see any movement but then I can sense there were others around me. It was one of the perks being an Ultima. I was able to sense the living thing among us, especially another werewolf.
"You should not be afraid, Sam. It's just me," a voice was calling after me as I was closing my eyes. I don't know why Zack Adamos was here but his voice was sending shivers through my body. I don't even know that his voice can be so soothing for me.
If I don't any better, he might as well be my mate.
Then, there was someone coming out of the trees. Zack has black hair and blue eyes, so he stood out from any of us. Even though we usually have brunette hair and grey eyes, I was an exception as well as my brother's.
We're brunette but our eyes were red. A sign that we were Ultima.
When I turned to look at him, I was speechless. I cannot move my mouth or get away from him when I was looking into his blue orbs.
Dear God!
Life was flashing in my eyes. The life that I will be sharing with him. I don't know if he saw the same thing as me as I saw that we were staring into the sunset and we were on the satin sheets, doing something that I would never imagine with another man…
I closed my eyes as I was trying to regain what I was seeing just now. I was breathing hard before I saw that Zack was breathing hard as well. His blue eyes were glowing at me as he growled.
"Mine,"
I was looking at him before my wolf purred at him as well. 'Mine,' she stated before I was clearing my head right now. This must be a mistake. I cannot be mated to the Omega of the pack. It would be a laughing stock of the pack. And I was an Ultima!

I looked at him before I was straightening my back as I was looking at Zack. He was advancing at me as I was stepping backward before my back was hitting the woods. I was looking at him before he was trapping me in his arms.
"Mine, I finally caught you, Samantha Lykos," Zack whispered huskily and he did something that I don't expect.
He kissed me.
The kiss was not something that I would consider soft and tender. It was rough and I can sense that my heat was building as well. I was gripping the tree bark to prevent myself from holding to him. But it was too late.
Zack was pushing me off the tree and we were landing on the ground. I moaned in that kiss as my hands were roaming his hard body. Even though he was an Omega, he worked out a lot. I don't think that he would be muscular and lean.
I was panting before Zack was tracing wet kisses on my jaws and throat. I was breathing in his scent which smells like the ocean breeze. I loved it so much and it was my favorite scent from now on.
"You have no idea how long I wanted to kiss you, Samantha," he whispered before he was staring into my eyes. I was panting again as I was arching my back to him. He kissed me again and this time his hands had found their ways to my breasts. He kneaded them before I was gripping his hair.
I moaned before I was thrusting my hips to mold with his. I can sense his hard boner as he groaned at the contact. Even though we were clothed, I can still feel the effect of our contact through the clothes.
"God, I need you now!" Zack said and before we can proceed any further, I stopped him. I looked at him as we were breathing hard. I don't know what was stopping me. He's my mate but I don't him. I cannot allow the humiliation to be only on my side. So I took a deep breath as I was looking into his eyes.

"I, Samantha Lykos, reject you, Zack Adamos, Omega of the pack to be my mate,"
Zack blinked a few times at me before he felt something in his chest because he was gripping it with his hand. Then I felt it too. I was groaning when I felt like my heart was shattered into a thousand pieces. I did not know what happened but I know it has to do with my rejection.
Zack was breathing heavily before he turned to look at me as his eyes were hurting with my rejection of him. I will not be held by that emotion that he showed to me right now. I was doing the right thing to save us both.
"Why?" He asked me as he was sitting to the floor on his knees. He was hurt before I was standing on my feet. I will not be held against him as his eyebrows furrowed at me.
"We can never be together, Zack. You're an Omega and I am an Ultima, a sister to the current Ultima of the pack. I will not be mated to someone like your lowly class," I said as I don't think what my words would be done to him. And at the time I did not care.
"Is that the only thing that you care about? The ranking in the pack?" He asked before he was standing as well. I did not answer his question before he laughed bitterly.
"I see, even I am the Beta now, you will never accept me, was it? Fine. If you hate me that much for being your mate, then I guess I just go out of your way then," he said before his eyes were hard on me. I flinched. He huffed at me before he was out of my sight. And I felt to the ground once he was gone.
What have I done?
Zack Adamos' POV
I shifted when I was out of Sam's eyesight. My wolf was hurt as well as my heart. I cannot think that someday, I would be rejected by my mate.
My mate.
I laughed bitterly as I know that the rejection was not completed. Only Sam was rejecting whereas I…
I shook my head as I don't want to think about it. It has done more damage than I wanted it to be. I was used to be the outsider of the pack and not being viewed as important. But this?
This was worst than anything that I could ever have endured.
The mating bond was weakening as I went deeper inside the woods. I can sense that my wolf wanted to go back to Sam and maybe talk some sense into her. But she's an Ultima. And she's respected by the pack.
I cannot force her to do anything that she doesn't like. Her brother will kill me.
I was coming to a stop as I was looking at the river which was in front of me. I turned to look around before I was staring at my reflection. I was a black wolf. Then I shifted.
I saw a man with black hair and blue eyes.
I was different, always was, and always will. I sighed before I was staring at the morning dawn light. I should get to work but right now, my heart was aching that I don't want to work.
Maybe I should just kill myself.

Stranger than Fiction (Draft Edition)
Rewrite -> https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/55140/stranger-than-fiction 150k words of rewritten and new content, updating 3 times a day. Faith is like ice-cream. It comes in all flavors. Greek, Norse, Sumerian, Christian— just name it and it's there. Adventures, on the other hand, are like credit cards. The first taste is free, but the price only goes up from there. Family heirlooms, now those are true evil. You get burdened with them for sentimental reasons even if they’re icky. For Lukas Aguilar, it was a pendant. A small, weird metal nib with absolutely no vampiric tendencies. All he wanted was to finish the job at hand, and get on that book he had been postponing for a while now. Instead he got served with an apocalypse for breakfast, a cave full of eldritch monsters for the company and the whims of a ruined goddess for his To-Do list. Really, a simple NO from the universe would have sufficed. Acknowledgments Editor-in-Chief: Solo Starfish Artwork: Exodus
