Chapter 50

Both Rina and Andy had already consumed two bottles of their drinks but still no Erika in sight. They even reserved her a chair since the girl said she'll catch up.

Looking around, the place sure was lively.

Disco balls were beaming lights of many colors, the sound of the band playing in a suspended platform and the indistinctive chatters and shouts from everyone present; majority were Mohr's students.

Also, the band was accepting song requests and so it really got noisier.

But despite the noise, Andy seemed not to care at all. Looking at Andy, Rina could tell where her mind wandered.

She sure was overthinking things like reading too much than necessary to Erika's action awhile back.

Not long, everyone got so worked up.

It started with a student who volunteered to sing with the band. Then, envy strikes.

Another student from the other class volunteered too until it somehow became a competition between classes.

By then, Erika finally arrived. She was just by herself.

"What's going on?" She asked as soon as she seated.

Rina explained the unplanned competition.

Then one of the students remark hit a nerve on everyone in Erika's class.

Their class has no volunteer yet and so other classes were mocking them as a class of no talent and the sort.

Well, we just have to blame the alcohol for it. No hard feelings.

"Did you hear that?" Erika smirked. She was pissed. Her smile twitched.

"Let's go." She grabbed Andy with her and went to the band.

They earned a cheering shout from their class as they made their way to the platform.

"Hey, are you serious about this?" Andy asked as they walk.

"Yeah, I'll make them eat their words but I don't want to sing solo so let's do it."

"Ugh, so what song?"

Erika tapped her phone and showed it to Andy which made the girl to go pale but Erika didn't notice it since the place was dark.

Erika showed it to the band too as they were to accompany them. Members of the band nodded with thumbs up.

Erika raised her hand with the mic facing the crowd, encouraging her supporters cheers while Andy relaxed her breathing.

Then the melody started.

It was Jason Mraz' piece.

Well to Erika, ever since she had known that Andy loves that musician she has also learned to love him along with his songs; making a playlist and repetitively played in her phone.

Maybe, it's like that when you love someone. You instinctively learn to love everything about her; down from her likes and dislikes.

Andy inhaled deeply and smiled as she let herself feel the rhythm and decided to drown herself with the melody of the song.

Even Erika noticed the changed in her expression and the glow in her eyes.

Little did she know, that on that moment only she, matters to Andy. It's as if everybody disappeared.

Erika gripped the microphone more than she intend to.

There it was again. Andy singing like she really mean every word for her.

[Take it easy

A tear begun to form in Erika's eyes but she held it.

'Aren't you too cruel?'

'Aren't you, Andy?'

By then, it's Erika's turn.

She looked back to Andy's deep brown eyes without wavering.

'If this would make me through a sleepless night again, thinking if you really mean it.'

'If you really sing it for me.'

'If it's what you really feel.'

'Or am I just assuming things.'

'Then might as well you do the same.'

'LET'S TORTURE OURSELVES TOGETHER IN OVERTHINKING THEN'

That time, Andy seemed to notice Erika's intention… or not.

But one thing was sure, with Erika's every gesture, expression and smile, Andy fell into confusion.

'What are you implying?'

Erika winked then curved a smile.

Andy smirked then went along with Erika's schemes not minding the crowd in front as their voices blended perfectly together.
