《The Guardians' Throne - The First Magic Swordsman 》Chapter 336: Motive

Derenus only needed to stop Cailu's men for a single second, and Zaos would free himself from the spell. However, before he could attack, Cailu's squad changed their focus and attacked him with Fire Arrows.
"You idiots…" Cailu said as soon as Derenus was bombarded and Zaos's presence returned to normal.
In the blink of an eye, Zaos attacked Cailu and his men with several Fire Swords. The explosion killed half of them in the blink of an eye, but the other half was still conscious. Weirdly enough, Cailu protected his body with his arms alone and looked unscathed.
"Focus on attacking the soldiers! I will deal with this one," Cailu declared.
"Really? I am looking forward to seeing that," Zaos said and then looked to the burned body of Derenus. "… I am glad that you didn't join these idiots, Gramps. Both sides only had dumbass leaders, but there are people like who are reasonable and can see things as they are. Thank you for teaching me so many things."
As soon as Zaos finished saying his farewell, Cailu dashed toward him and punched his face. Zaos enhanced his right arm and blocked the attack, but in the end, he still was pushed backward for several meters, and his right arm began to throb due to the pain. Zaos knew that Cailu wasn't weak. He probably had the most powerful presence after Derenus. Still, he didn't expect that much power.
Cailu advanced while zigzagging as if he imagined Zaos would fire his Fire Sword again, but he never did it. Cailu tried to punch Zaos's face again, but his attack was blocked once again, this time by Zaos's right elbow. Cailou's face distorted in pain since he felt like he had punched something harder than steel. Something was off, Zaos had enhanced his body before, but the endurance wasn't the same…

"I thought you would deal with me, but I guess you meant to stare at me," Zaos said.
Cailu decided to change his strategy since it was obvious Zaos was fast enough to react to his attacks, maybe not as fast while moving, but he certainly had the reaction speed. If his punch is blocked by another elbow, he will break his fist, and that will take a while to heal, even with his magic.
After charging once again, Cailu lowered his stance to kick Zaos's legs, but he changed his mind when he saw Zaos moving Derenus spear. He was forced to stop, but that had been just a feint. He dropped the spear and then enhanced his legs to advance while Cailu retreated. The enemy prepared to fight barehanded since Zaos had the stupidest thing. He dropped a weapon that gave him a range and extra magic power. Zaos tried to punch Cailu with his right fist, but the enemy easily grabbed his fist.
"Is that all?" Cailu asked.
"Almost," Zaos replied.
In the next minute, Zaos's fist electrocuted Cailu, and while the big guy was trembling due to the shock, Zaos punched his left side. Both of them felt and heard the ribs cracking, but Cailu couldn't do anything. Zaos kicked his legs and then made him fall to the ground. Once that happened, Zaos punched his face without even blinking.
"Thank you for giving me the motive to do this," Zaos said with his eyes wide open but without showing any expression.
Every time Zaos moved his fists, Cailu tried to react, but another electric attack soon made him stop. That repeated itself for quite a while until Cailu's face became unrecognizable. He was pretty tough, so he only died when Zaos cracked his skull with a power punch.

Zaos sighed in relief since his fists were hurting quite a bit, Cailu had enhanced his whole body and made it harder, so it was only natural that something like that would happen. Regardless, Zaos didn't have time to rest since he noticed some of the guys who were attacking the soldiers turning around to face him.
Before they had the chance to attack, Zaos bombarded them with Fire Swords, and then he grabbed Derenus' spear. He had used a lot of mana that night, so the weapon will help preserve some of it as well as protect him while he searches for his gear in the middle of that camp.
"I have to be fast, otherwise I will end up getting caught in the battle," Zaos said. "I can't return to serve the kingdom anymore and it will be better for my future actions if they still think that I am dead."
Without wasting any more time, Zaos began to run toward the center of the enemy camp. While he never had the chance to check things there, he was pretty sure his things would be in the biggest tent or in the safest place. Thanks to the darkness of the night and the fact that everyone was pretty much fighting, no one paid attention to Zaos. It was fortunate that he had asked for one of their black capes to use in situations like that.
After looking around for a while, Zaos found a big tent being guarded by what seemed to be a group of elite mages. Their presence was pretty powerful, and Zaos recognized one among them… it was Fyran. There was no mistaking it… his things were there.
"Well then… how I am going to recover my things without making a scene?" Zaos wondered.
Fighting his way out was possible once he recovered his sword, but it was too dangerous. Zaos couldn't afford to lose time with the little man he had either. Should he wait for the situation to worsen, and those guys will be forced to join the battle? Things will get pretty messy now that Derenus and Cailu are dead, so the main path might be taken by the soldiers, but it seemed like the followers of the demon god defeated the other units by going all out and turning them into zombies. Waiting wasn't a good idea…

The Wild Touch
The world of Delmathar has many conflicts and plots that span over the whole world and even into the war torn oceans. That’s not even taking into account that the world is a candidate in the Realm wars… but that’s a story for another day. Instead we will follow the story of how a goddess’s botched attempt of using a weak earth soul to make powerful Grafter for her mother, ends up empowering an unsuspecting little boy. The boy who is called Nosal Brownwhisker, who happens to be a peaceful little buttonless-shirt loving little Capyban. And as the Brownwhisker family tries to juggle their everyday lives on their monster ranch and hiding little Nosal’s secret, more and more developments keep popping up in the village of Pancreedy that makes life more.. interesting. Author’s notes:This is my first fiction and I understand it will suck. Hopefully you will find it to be enjoyable enough to hang around. There’s not going to be any epic world-ending fights or any stuff like that, just some shenanigans generally with the story progressing very slowly as it changes from many viewpoints. The world of Delmathar may seem funky for now so I will promise a glossary every 15 chapters. The wild touch will be updated at least twice a week, with me having no backlog of chapters. So if I get mobbed at work or get sick I will let you know in my notes on a short chapter. I hope you enjoy, and thank you for the people who support me, give me encouragement and pointers.
