《Becoming God of a Dystopian World 》Chapter 20: Awakening

All the eyes were silent and they stayed that way for some time leaving Zhao Luo to enjoy his moment of joy.
He felt nice and happy.
The real reason for Zhao Luo being this excited wasn't because the eyes were silent because his mind talent was as they had said instead it was because 'Mind of the Crimson God' had a nice ring to it.
He found it acceptable and without even asking the eyes of the meaning behind this 'Mind of the Crimson God' he just went ahead and announced his victory and took his victory pose.
The eyes that had been disrespectful to Zhao Luo before spoke slowly to the other eyes.
"So if this kid becomes a God he will already be at Crimson level. Unbelievable."
Another one of the eyes replied to this guy.
"It is as you said."
The other eyes started giving their opinion on the matter of Zhao Luo's mind talent too.
"He doesn't even look past his twenties. So how could he already have a mind with the highest state of potential."
They all were showing their shock that was caused because of the crimson shone that was caused by Zhao Luo.
One of the eyes said to the eyes in the middle.
"If he is guided the right way he may be even able to surpass you, oh Goddess."
The style of addressing the eyes in the middle by the one that spoke just showed how important the person was to whom these eyes belonged.
"You are right. It isn't even a maybe, he will surpass all of us."
The eyes in the middle spoke.
Zhao Luo was listening to the conversation of these eyes carefully.
He was a little angry as they were ignoring him and talking as if he wasn't even present there but right now the important thing for him was something else.
'The old man said that these seven Gods were even stronger than him and now they are talking about being surpassed by me.'
Zhao Luo couldn't believe what he was hearing right now.
The eyes were still talking about him.
"I am still here. Can you explain to me too?"
Zhao Luo asked the eyes in the middle.
He was hoping for an answer that could clear up every question on his mind ability.

"You have passed our assessment with 'Okay' marks."
The eyes which had been picking a bone with Zhao Luo since the beginning started speaking.
"Though you may have surprised us a little but do remember this that there are many fishes in the sea as there are many birds in the sky."
Zhao Luo couldn't find a justifiable reason behind bringing fishes and birds here.
He was confused and was looking at the eyes that spoke to him in a way that was asking the eyes to clarify.
"So stupid. Don't be complacent in only your potential. The time to be proud about this will be when you achieve that level."
The eyes tried to simplify its words.
Even if it was an ego left by God, there was something that not all of these eyes knew how to explain.
Zhao Luo was that something.
They had never expected that someone with such a powerful mind would be following their Heaven's Way.
"Zhao Luo, you are an extraordinary individual. Even though your body is just passable, your mind is already at the highest state."
The eyes promised Zhao Luo and continue to address him.
"There have been talents like you even in our times and I am one of them."
The eyes shone with a crimson light.
"Yet my mind wasn't even half strong as yours when I started my journey to Godhood."
The eyes said to Zhao Luo.
"You are worthy of Heaven's Way."
After the eyes in the middle said that to Zhao Luo, all the eyes disappeared.
Zhao Luo was the only one in the dark area.
Shortly after that, he felt a force grabbing him and lifting him upwards just to throw him away later.
After that horrible feeling, Zhao Luo found himself in his mind space where he was since the start with the Heaven's Tomb in his hand.
Zhao Luo noticed that the Heaven's Tomb was closed.
'Guess I have passed the test to see if I was worthy to walk on Heaven's way.'
After thinking about the thing which just happened to him, Zhao Luo proceeded to open the book again.
"What?"
Zhao Luo exclaimed as he wasn't able to open the book.
Zhao Luo used all his force he could muster but he still couldn't open it.
Zhao Luo was a little disappointed just when the book started shining.

Grey light started coming out of the book as then the intensity of the greyish light reached an all-time high.
The book raised itself and floated above the hand of Zhao Luo.
The heavens tomb started dividing itself. Soon it turned to so many parts that the particles of Heaven's tomb were hardly visible.
Then all of those microparticles rushed towards the palm of Zhao Luo.
"Ahhhhh"
Zhao Luo screamed as he felt something hot crawling under his skin and entering his hand from the side of his palm.
The particles wherever they passed inside the arm of Zhao Luo to the other parts of his body, a burning sensation was left behind in that place.
Zhao Luo was in a situation where he felt an extreme sensation of pain from every part of his body.
He was confused about whether to cry or scream because of the pain.
This continued for a while till no part of Zhao Luo was left from where the sensation of pain was missing.
"Shit. This is too much."
Zhao Luo who was in pain was complaining about what was happening to him.
'Is this book trying to kill me??'
Zhao Luo thought because of the pain he felt.
Soon the pain from all over his body gradually subsided.
He could still feel the burning sensation from one part. Right on the wrist of his right hand, the pain was so much that he thought that his wrist would just fall off after melting.
He looked at his wrist and below the crease on his wrist towards his arm, there was a book-shaped image lying there.
"This is Heaven's tomb. Why is it in my wrist?"
Zhao Luo said questioning what had exactly happened as he recognized the shape and shine of the image on his wrist.
While looking at the image of the Heaven's Tomb on his wrist, Zhao Luo felt a change that his body was going through.
When the pain had ended he felt a strength surging all around his body.
He felt as if he only needed to wave his hand and the skies would fall.
That is how strong he felt at this moment.
Zhao Luo focused and tried to open his eyes.
He sat down in a lotus position in his mind space and closed his eyes.
Zhao Luo brought his hands closer towards his stomach without even realizing it.
He was only focused on waking the hell up and leaving the capsule.
He felt the energy coursing through his body and knew that this was the moment.
'If I don't try to do it now then I will never be able to do it later.' Zhao Luo thought.
It had already been many minutes since Zhao Luo had sat down to focus on trying to move his physical body yet there was no sign of that happening.
Zhao Luo didn't give up. He still sat there like a rock, eyes closed and all his focus on only one thought.
'I will move my BODY.'
More time passed.
It was already more than an hour since Zhao Luo had sat down. He didn't know how much time had already passed.
Just like that, a few days had already passed and Zhao Luo was still sitting like that focused on the same thing without achieving any results, without waking up.
Zhao Luo didn't know but for him, not much time had passed, and just like that weeks went by and months passed away.
Time kept on flowing yet there was no result.
Then around a year time, Zhao Luo let out a roaring sound.
Yes, it took Zhao Luo a year just to roar.
His body started disappearing from his mind space.
Soon it had completely disappeared from that dark space.
"Mhmm, ah"
Body creaking sound came from the body of Zhao Luo.
He was trying to move it and it was responding.
He still hadn't opened his eyes yet.
So he didn't know that there was a golden radiance surrounding his body.
His body was throbbing. That was how much force he was using to move it.
Zhao Luo focused everything on opening his eyes and then slowly yet surely he could feel the sensation of control over his eyelids.
"Shaa"~background music when Zhao Luo opens his eyes~
Zhao Luo finally opened his eyes.
He couldn't believe it.
He was finally awake.
It felt as if he was in a long dream.
Where he slept a lot, dreamt a lot, and learned a few things from an old man that he had met.
"My body is finally awake."
Zhao Luo said feeling the control over his body that he had gained again.

The Book of Hickory
Now why did Hickory go and punch that Angel? Sure it spooked him, popping up right there at lunch, and yet, it wasn't fear that balled his hand into a fist - Cause wouldn't you? Wouldn't anyone - with a sick Ma at home, Da long dead, buried, all them prayers piling up on bruised knees, unanswered? Hickory was angry, all right. He was fierce, now - cause that Angel didn't show up to give no help, that Angel came by asking for it - with all that power just plain to see, the power to fix the world and all that ails it! And now look what poor Hickory has to do - to save the world? Now how is he supposed to do that when its taking near everything he's got - just to keep them chickens safe, Ma fed, and himself out of trouble - All he wanted was maybe just a dance with May, maybe a bit more, to hold her close? That she's sweet, now, a voice like an angel, but now she's over there lookin at him like he's more than a man. And that's not to say Hickory is bad, not all the time, not ever on purpose - just there are things a man has to - That drinking and fighting ain't wrong just as long as the chores are done proper first, that those parts of life that make it worth living ain't no sin, that loving a lady is proper and Hickory just has so much love to give! And May is special, right, sweet and soft, now she's sophisticated. That she wears her passion like a pearl necklace? That certainly Hickory would notice, naturally - that she's already spoken for, perhaps taken? That ever since Hickory came back, that all she can think about is swallowing - those strange feelings, because it wouldn't do, would it? For a Lady? But certainly she can worship him and still be seen with Weston Covanger? Because Weston needs May, that what happens in the Study is only half the battle, the Men's Business, and he's far too proud to settle for half of anything. That if he wants to move up the ranks of his family, to be more than a Covanger, to become the Covanger? He's going to need a woman in the Kitchen as well - he's going to need May. And if that seems a bit old fashioned? A bit too much like the Wild West? Well the West is starting to get wild again now that everyone starts to Drink. A different take on LitRPG where answers aren't given - they must be earned, discovered and fought for, one at a time. An orator style, a long read, filled with magic buildings, crafting, alchemy, but most of all - This is a story about the human spirit. About understanding what defines a person, their morals, their beliefs, and also faith when everything they understand becomes challenged - changed. So do they. People can change. They will. Just not always for the better, not always - sometimes. Sometimes that's enough. Sometimes that's even everything.
