《Becoming God of a Dystopian World 》Chapter 255: The Golden Hilt

A few minutes before Zhao Luo had entered the ground hole after teasing the leader of the monkeys.
A third group was walking towards the middle region of the forest.
A group in which all the members were armed while their faces were masked with a purple cloth, as they followed the direction from where the ground shattering and mind tearing shrieks of a beast were coming from.
The sounds were the cries of the Flying Monkey that was chasing after Zhao Luo, but this group had no idea about that as they continued their search for their target.
There were 19 people in the group while their weapons were the same, a normal sword in all of their hands while a red scabbard which was engraved with two characters, 'M and O' was tied around their waist.
One of the two people who were leading this group asked the other guy.
"Butler Mo, are you sure that this Zhao Luo will be in the forest?"
The guy asked this person who looked fat, so fat that for the first time in history, someone would have felt the pain of cloth, that is, the robe the butler was wearing.
Butler Mo was someone from one of the branch families of the Royal Mo Family. Not only that, he was also the butler of the Mo Suo, thus his status was that of one of those people who could enjoy themselves from sunrise till sunset without giving a heck for anyone or anything. After indulging in a massive quantity of meat and wine, he himself was now a massive piece of meat with the softness of the meat.
But that was just a cover. His strength exceeded what the eyes of others could see as Butler Mo was somewhat equal to a level one ' I ' Bronze Rank disciple, while also being well versed in the art of the sword.

After hearing the question of the other guy, Butler Mo raised his eyebrow causing his fourth chin to tremble as he tried to display his anger, over the trivial question of his companion.
"Listen, this is the last time you will question me!"
Butler Mo said this to the guy who had questioned him leaving him in shock.
'This pig.'
"But this is the first time I even asked you about him."
The guy continued as he was very displeased.
They both were equally strong but Butler Mo's status was elevated just by the fact that he was a direct servant under Mo Suo.
Mo Suo's closest aid was Butler Mo while there were two team leaders that served under him with the goal of protecting him all the times when he wasn't in the Xin Sect.
One of the team leaders was the guy who had just been reprimanded by Butler Mo for questioning him. While the 17 people behind them were the guards of the Mo Family, specifically working under this team leader.
Looking at the guy who was still talking even Butler Mo who considered all of his companions lower than him started talking since he could see the others eyeing him. Thus the pressure got to him and he opened his mouth after a thought passed through his head,
'Are they trying to stab me with their vision?'
"Don't worry. It's confirmed intel by one of Master Suo's subordinates."
Butler Mo told him while following the direction where the screaming of beasts was coming from.
The beastly cries got louder and louder as they moved towards the part of the middle region where the tree which was emanating a mysterious shine was, while from the other side Zhao Luo led the beast to it too.

The moment Zhao Luo went into the hole, was also when this group had reached a place from where they could see the tree.
While barely missing Zhao Luo, they still saw the leader of the flying monkey squirming with his legs facing towards the sky and a moment later its body vanished from their sight.
"Did you all see that too?" Butler Mo questioned the other 18 people in his group.
"Yes, Butler Mo. What just happened?"
The same guy who was warned by Butler Mo before for questioning him asked another question in bewilderment.
But Butler Mo was also in a state of shock, while slowly moving towards the tree. The other behind him looked somewhat scared after the sight they had witnessed.
"What kind of beast was that? Why was its leg pointing upwards? Where did it go? Is it hiding in the golden bushes? Why are there even so many golden bushes at this place?"
Such questions swarmed their minds and their fear started increasing.
As the first stage of fear is questioning the unexplainable situation so the people behind him were very close to the stage where it could be said that they were afraid to walk towards the place.
Even though they had just arrived at the location, and obviously the sight was something that had freaked them out. But because of the mysterious yet enchanting shine that was coming from the tree right next to the spot where the beast had disappeared, they all decided to follow Butler Mo.
Butler Mo passed the hole in the ground without looking at it. The same went for the team leader and the other of the group since the bushes were thick and long and they were keeping a straight view as they walked towards the tree which was illuminating this space with a golden shine of low intensity.
Butler Mo stood next to the tree and closely inspected it.
"The shine isn't coming from the tree. But from inside it."
He started talking as the realization of the origin of this mysterious shine hit him.
"Hmm. That is indeed the case but it's like a separate root of the tree is covering the shine."
The team leader told Butler Mo as he looked at a specific part of the tree.
"Thud!"
The next instant Butler Mo threw his sweaty palm towards the part of the tree that they were looking at and broke off the thick wooden cover that looked like a root with dirt on it.
"A Golden Hilt?"
The stunned team leader said while looking at the shape of the object which was the reason for the shine.
Underground.
At this moment Zhao Luo had just placed the headless flying monkey beast on his right shoulder.
"Let's Go!"
Zhao Luo mumbled to himself while holding his nose with his left hand because of the stench that was coming out of the sliced neck of the beast.

Sara's (not really) Fabulous System Armageddon, Book I: The World Ended at Rush Hour
Planet Earth, Monday, October 7th, 2019. 18:30 * * On a fateful day, during rush hour in eastern North America, Heavens and Hell crumbled and fell from their higher dimension on Earth. It came from "above" but not the same above we regard in our tridimensional Euclidean reasoning. No, it came from "above" as in from a higher dimension. Bits and pieces of those places fell on Earth from all directions, this time in tridimensional Euclidean space. Satellites, the ISS, and space debris all were wiped clean from orbit. Even those that didn't crash with the falling debris were knocked off orbit by the shockwaves. On the ground, power distribution lines were disrupted and most power facilities were left abandoned by their dead staff. Most of these had emergency shutdown routines that engaged in a few days. Some others had a survivor among their staff that followed protocol and activated their SCRAM switches, stopping the power plant. Long-distance communication disappeared the internet along with it. The world was plunged into technological darkness. Nine hundred and ninety-nine out of every thousand human beings perished immediately in the pulse of magical energy from the torn spatial boundary. Spirits were rent asunder and vanished, their fate neither salvation nor damnation, only oblivion. The criteria used for this culling was latent magic potential. It didn't discriminate against education, gender, age, or ethnic group. But of the around seven million survivors, most would meet their doom moments later. Those on moving vehicles, like the ones driving on highways suddenly had to contend with high-speed uncontrolled cars and trucks driven by corpses. Trapped in their vehicles and helpless, they became part of the long snake of crushed metal. Very few survived. Those in the air or out in the sea were alone and probably unable to control their rides. Airplanes crashed, and ships kept their course or drifted away, depending on their autopilot. Several ended their own lives in utter despair after seeing their loved ones die in front of them. Another large group would die at the hands of other survivors. Violence and aggression became the norm. Only a few sparse pockets of not-so-sane survivors managed to band together and cooperate for the sake of mutual survival. The sole survivor in a five-over-one apartment building in Georgia, a girl became the keystone to humanity's survival. Sara's fabulous System Apocalypse had just started. She has only one remark. It was anything but fabulous. * * Updates every Wednesday and Sunday.
