《Becoming God of a Dystopian World 》Chapter 278: The Simple Game

As he tried to imagine a beast that he would like to use as his piece on the game board, the first image that popped up in his mind was none other than Bimba's.
"Ah, Bimba."
Even though he was attached to Bimba, Zhao Luo didn't want to use him as a piece in a game even if that piece was just a statue resembling Bimba.
'Oh, I know. A statue of blue eyes white dragon would be a good match for that red-winged dragon.'
Zhao Luo mumbled while his arms were folded in front of his chest as he nodded his head, barely able to hide his grin because of the surprise he was going to give the senior in front of him. Just then, Bu Xing opened his mouth.
"So. you have chosen a sand lion. How mediocre."
Bu Xing said with a smile as he had already won the war of imagination.
Zhao Luo was stunned as he listened to Bu Xing making fun of him.
"But I haven't eve-"
While Zhao Luo was trying to refute his words by saying he hadn't even thought of the beast statue he wanted to use as a piece, he noticed that Bu Xing was looking behind him with his eyes raised.
Zhao Luo turned around while following Bu Xing's gaze and found a 3-meter tall statue of Bimba who was standing on his two feet and had a crown placed on his head.
"Oh, wow."
Zhao Luo exclaimed as his tamed beast was looking handsome just like his tamer.
The next moment, the beast statue slid towards Zhao Luo and stopped on the white-black Zhao Luo was on.
"The game is very simple."
Bu Xing said as both of their pieces faced each other just like how they were facing each other.

"What are the rules?"
Zhao Luo asked and that was when the five blocks on his left and the four blocks on his right turned bright.
'What's happening?'
Zhao Luo who was freaked out couldn't help but raise his hands as an eerie feeling crept on him.
Nine more pieces that looked just like the first piece appeared on the row he was on.
The nine new pieces were two-meter tall, which is a meter shorter than the one on the fifth column where Zhao Luo was.
Just like the first row, the tenth row where Bu Xing was, went through the same change.
Nine dragons with big red wings appeared there. Each of the dragons looked like a smaller version of the one on the block Bu Xing was standing on.
"The rules are as simple as the game."
Bu Xing leaped forward once to stand on the block in front of him which was on the ninth row.
"We both shall face each other in the middle with a game that will give the winner a 'chance' to attack."
As Bu Xing told the first rule to Zhao Luo, he jumped another block and landed on the 5th column's block on the eighth row.
"With one chance to attack, you can take down a regular piece with the attack of your piece. As for the crowned one behind me, you need to attack it with your pieces five times, that is, you will need to get five chances and for that, you will need to beat me five times in the game we will be playing."
Xu Bing jumped to the next block and then another before finally stopping at the 5th block of the sixth row.
Zhao Luo looked at the dragon statues behind Bu Xing and realized that except for the crown one, all of them had the same limit on them which was 1/1, but the crowned dragon with the red wings had 5/5.

"The winner will be the one who takes down five regular pieces or only the crowned one."
Bu Xing smiled at Zhao Luo while telling another rule.
"Wouldn't that be the same? Since to do both, you need five chances."
Zhao Luo said to Bu Xing who nodded at Zhao Luo's question, once again showing that he knew what the question would be.
"That's also very simple. It's different in the case of the crowned one since after you win a game and use a chance to attack it making its limit fall to 4/5, you will need to win another game to get a chance. And in case you lose the next game, the limit will return to 5/5."
Bu Xing explained to Zhao Luo yet another rule which made it extremely hard to destroy the crowned one.
'Simple, Simple, Simple....'
Zhao Luo screamed in his head.
"What is simple about this game? Who would even go for the crowned one?"
Zhao Luo mumbled while lowering his body.
He pushed his toes back and raised his ankle.
The 5th rows block was exactly eight meters away from and in an instant,
"Half Walk."
'Whoosh.'
Zhao Luo had covered it which caused Bu Xing to be filled with awe.
"What's the game?"
Zhao Luo asked looking calmer than how he was a second ago.
"It's sim-"
"Simple?"
Zhao Luo interrupted Bu Xing and regretted it right after he opened his mouth again.
"Similar to guessing the other person's moves."
Bu Xing completed his words and Zhao Luo looked a bit embarrassed.
"Senior, what kind of moves are we guessing here?"
Zhao Luo politely asked with an awkward laugh.
"Up, Down, Left, and Right. We both have four directions. I will be the one guessing and you will be the one making the move. You can make the move by turning your face or pointing your arm in any of the four directions. If I guess your move correctly, I will win and get a chance otherwise you will win and a chance will be given to you."
Bu Xing finally told Zhao Luo about the game they would be playing which will decide the destruction of their pieces.
"So if you can't guess five times, I will win?"
"YES!"
"Hmm, sounds fair."
Zhao Luo smiled as the game turned out to be a really simple one.
'So, I have to guess about his guess as to which direction I will be looking at. This should be a breeze.'
Zhao Luo thought while preparing his mind as Bu Xing looked more than ready to start the countdown.

The FPD (Fart Police Department) The world’s norms and ethics have drastically shifted for the worse after an uncontrollable flatus outbreak absorbed the world’s inhabitant, causing major depopulation on a global scale. Conversely, to remedy the spread of this vulgar contagion, the Societal Gods who were partially indirectly responsible for causing the outbreak, implemented certain strict measures for the servile humans to follow. These strict policies were commonly known to the general public as Fart Commandments. Thou shall not relieve themselves in public without following the proper guided measures; thou shall not relieve themselves in private without adhering to the strict guidelines; each new-born and younglings should be taken to the nearest medical facility regularly for inoculation; loose bottoms shall not be tolerated at any governing venues and face-masks should always be worn appropriately. Failure to adhere to the above commandments would result in a mandatory life sentence without a court appeal or probation unless they are of influential births and have authoritative backers. In this twisted society which had been established today a model young female who adhered to the strict policies all of her life without questioning, accidentally broke one of the Fart Commandments and found herself entangled with a rebellious group of uncouth individuals who opposed the Societal Gods. To regain her innocence and social standing among the civil society, this young lady dared challenge the Societal God’s ruling by utilizing the absolute thing that they detested the most which were the destructive vapours of her flatus. Delicate as Glass
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Nuri, an [Assistant Glassworker], only has a single Skill. It’s really not fair. He’s worked in the hot shop his entire life, following in his father’s footsteps after his parents passed away, but he’s stuck. Despite possessing above-average talent as an artisan, he still hasn’t shed his [Assistant] status, gained a second Skill, or even leveled enough to reach the first Threshold. Besides, he’s bored; most days he daydreams of adventure and becoming a hero, or pines for the renown that’s sure to be his if he evolves his Class into a [Master Glass Smith], but nothing ever changes—until suddenly, fate strikes, and nothing is ever the same again. These days, Nuri sees more magic, prestige, and adventure than he can handle as he gets swept up in realm-shaking conspiracies and desperate fights for his life. Maybe a boring life wasn’t so bad after all. Disclaimers: 1) Names were mostly chosen through random generators and aren’t necessarily final. If they seem derivative or boring, blame RNG. 2) Skills, Classes, levels, and the entire system is currently a work in progress; please be kind if it’s not very well fleshed out yet. 3) This is the first full-length novel I've set out to write without a single plot point ready. I had nothing in mind other than a recent visit to a hot shop. Molten glass is pretty awesome. 4) Related, I know much less about glass than I’d like. I did some research, but mistakes are bound to happen. If you have a correction, thanks! Please be polite about it. 5) The prose is my experimental attempt at first-person, present tense. I realize it may not be everyone’s preference, but I hope you’ll give it a try anyway!
