CHAPTER TWENTY NINE
It’s okay to slow down sometimes, but life will go on
~
“I’m sorry guys, I’m just not ready to leave here with you
My parents say I need to train, and I know that it’s true
I’d only weigh you down if I were to go with you now
It’s so unfair, but I’ll catch up to both of you somehow”

A boy who knows his limits and will train til they’re surpassed
He’s on his way to great things even if he’s not fast
He still has a whole to world of training he must start
But he is prepared to train his body, mind, and heart
Pebble stood before his friends with tears upon his face
Sky and Leaf looked back and Leaf said, “Hey, it’s not a race”
Sky then gave the back of Leaf’s head a harsh slap and said
“Like your mother always says, ‘it takes fire to make bread’”
They shared a hug full of the love they had for each other
But these three friends still felt like they were missing one brother
“Go get Twig and bring him home you guys, it’s up to you
If you’re gone too long, I swear I’ll come and help you too”
A day had passed since Twig had been made to leave their hometown
But still the village folks were very far from calming down
Secretly, the three agreed to meet before first light
But everyone in town had been up gossiping all night
They talked beneath a tall pine tree at the end of a road
But suddenly, they thought they could hear something big explode
At first it sounded like a portal monster attacking

But such a thing would never leave the village panicking
From a distance they observed, but when they found the source
They couldn’t help but chuckle, Sky just sighed and said “of course…”
Delilah was already known for having a temper
And this was a worse day for her than they could remember
“Let’s get out of here before we get caught up in that
I can think of many safer places to be at”
Leaf had packed a small bag with some food and some supplies
And as he spoke he waved goodbye with slightly teary eyes
Sky had a small magic pouch, bigger on the inside
It was a gift from her father which she wore with pride
It held at least a month’s worth of fresh cheese and vegetables
And time was stopped inside, to protect the perishables
For a weapon leaf had packed a small bow and arrows
From a distance he could hit a sitting house fly’s nose
Sky had long trained with a long rapier til recently
but today she felt more like punching through her enemy
“Me and Leaf will be back soon, so you do what you can
You’ll be ready soon if you stick to your parents’ plan
Eat well and stay healthy, but don’t get hurt while we’re gone
With luck we’ll be back with twig tomorrow around dawn”
They’d tried their best to understand the words their parents said
But couldn’t fathom why a System would want their friend dead
They’d go and ask Twig for themselves what he had seen that day
And figure out why some System had chased their friend away

Your life is truly moving quickly, but that is your fate
Even your great destiny is not a moment late
As long as you’re running into battle with your friends
Yours will be an epic adventure that never ends
Pebble went to meet his parents once he’d said goodbye
Passing by Delillah as debris began to fly
She too had been fearful of what the System might do
But it was clear, Delilah was a fearsome power too
Sky and Leaf departed as they’d planned the night before
They’d find Twig and they would all be together once more
The walked right out of town without a word to anyone
In the same direction where Twig’s journey had begun

The Saga of Geir Røshjert
"His name will never be sung, son. Skalds and bards like me will never tell his stories to the mass. But only us and us alone will keep telling his story, his actions, his saga. For he is the man who started all of this." This is a story no man in Lumenter will ever hear, no man except for an Arnesen, for his stories are dull and generic to the ears of the masses, except for us, because he is the very reason why our people traveled this far east, why kingdoms in Erisgi fell and rose, why I... even existed in the first place. He is Geir, son of Arne, called 'the Stranger' by the people. But what he truly is, is a fiery red heart that beats inside every Eyklandian, Arnesen, and me.
