《The Werewolf Cheerleader》Book Two: Chapter 30

Salina jumped and almost fell off her chair. She rubbed her eyes and glanced around on high alert. “Huh? Huh? What was that?”
I opened my ears more, catching more gunshot sounds echoing outside. “I think there is a gunfight happening out there.”
“A gunfight?” Kevin picked up his spear and raced through the door. “I think help has arrived. Come on!”
Salina and I grabbed our weapons then followed Kevin through the hallway. We can research more about Lord Dregan later.
In the entrance hall, my friends hid behind a pillar, staring at the front door. The guns grew louder and louder behind it.
“Jessica! Someone is shooting outside!” Holly shouted, hugging Tiffany from behind like a frightened little girl.“Is it an attack?” Malaya asked.
I shook my head. “No, I think-”
The door banged and rattled. Someone was totally outside.
“Hello?” A man’s voice shouted. “This is the police! If anyone is in there, please let me in!”
My eyes widened after I recognized that voice. “That’s my dad!”
“Hold on! It might be them trying to trick us!” Tiffany cried.
I growled at her and raced toward the door. Werewolves couldn’t intimate different voices to treat their prey. And how the hell would they know about my dad?
Kevin said the police would find us here sooner or later when our parents became worried. I didn’t expect it would take a whole night for them to figure out we lost communication with the town. When they found the island, the werewolf biker gang found them too.
“Dad!” I pulled the door open, letting the cold air breezed over my shoulders.
A tall fat man in a sheriff’s uniform charged through and collapsed to the carpet. His left arm bled with ripped flesh exposed beneath his torn fabric.

I closed the door and sat on my knees near my dad. I pushed him onto his back and checked his wound. Four deep red slash marks, nearly showing his bones. I totally couldn’t tell if they were bitten marks on his flesh.
God, I hoped not. If my daddy becomes a werewolf, he would totally track me down and prevent me from having my own fun.
My friends gathered around him.
“Is he bitten?” Tiffany exclaimed.
I sniffed his wound, smelling only his warm flesh. “I don’t know.”
Kevin stared at the wound marks closely. “I think those are only claw marks. He should be okay.”
I glared at him. “Does he look okay to you?”
My dad moaned as he glanced at me. “Jessica?”
I held his left hand, smiling tearfully at his face. “Yes, daddy! I am totally here!”
Dad’s face grimaced. “Why are you…..”
He closed his eyes and slowly fainted. His cold breath left his lips.
My heart raced and I shook his body. “Dad? Dad! Wake up!”
Kevin placed two fingers on my dad’s neck. “His pulse is still beating. He must have lost a lot of blood when they attacked him.”
“Hey, pig!” Betty’s voice shouted outside. “Come back out and play with us! We’re still hungry! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”
My blood boiled, fueling my heart with rage. That bitch is going to pay!
I got up and marched toward the door with the spear in my left hand.
“Jessica, where are you going?” Tiffany asked.
I placed my hand on the door handle. “I’m ending this, once and for all.”
“No, Jessica!” Holly cried. “They will kill you!”
I gritted my teeth. “I don’t care! As long as they are here, help will never come!”

“But we can wait until sunrise,” said Malaya. “That was part of the plan.”
I glared at her. “And let my dad bleed to death?”
My friends glanced at the floor with worries clouding around them.
“Just listen to me! The longer we hide in here, the more lives will be lost. They just killed my dad’s squad out there, and they are planning to break through to finish the job! We have to fight them now, or we will never see the sun rise over the mountains! It’s now or never!”
Tiffany, Holly, and Malaya sat quietly on the floor. I could tell they were afraid because none of them trained to fight monsters like me. They were just ordinary girls who liked cheerleading and shopping. Without any good fighting skills, they won’t have a chance against the monsters outside. Only Salina, Kevin, and I could fight the werewolves because we studied them and trained together to fight them. Either way, somebody has to fight them before they could siege into the castle.
Salina rose to her feet. “I’ll come with you-”
“No!” I pointed my spear at her. “You stay here and heal my dad. Kevin, you will protect everyone here.”
Kevin nodded. “Do you have a plan?”
I glared at the floor while clenching my teeth. “I don’t know. I’ll just kick all their asses until they totally run away.”
“They will outnumber you if you step out there alone.”
I shot my burning eyes at him. “Then what else should I do?”
Kevin tossed his spear toward me. "Kill their alpha."
I caught his spear, and smiled at him. "No shit. She's totally at the top of my hit list."

Tainted Reflections (A Litrpg Portal Apocalypse)
Thirty-five years ago, the world ended. A small subsection of humanity was sent to a brand new world with a game-like system that 'ensured' our survival, and the rest simply disappeared. I fought my way to the upper echelon of levels, made and lost friends over the years, and it finally felt like humanity had carved itself a small foothold in this Godforsaken place. Until one final person died. Until the system reset, and took everything I'd worked so damn hard for with it. I found myself staring at a face I barely recognized as my own, and the Earth began to end once again. Updates every day Monday thru Friday.

Now Brenn must balance her wife’s delicate mental health, new motherhood, and her own complicated feelings while working with her Captain and their odd bunch of friends and allies to protect her tiny family from a small, but influential group within the Aesir government who will stop at nothing to take back Brenn’s wife and child. All the while, there are whispers of a greater and more ancient power coming to life. A power Brenn’s wife knows more about than she wants to let on. It’s a good thing Brenn is used to fighting. CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.

Return of Chaos
For the longest time, it was thought that the citizens of Earth were the only denizens of the galaxy incapable of developing superhuman abilities — but recent events have flipped that assumption on its head. Between Austin Travis, Mote Emerson, Pierce Bradley, and their friends, Earth is now host to 12 Chaotics… as well as a myriad of mysteries surrounding them. From a new nemesis in the form of a clone, to connections to ancient technology from a long-lost civilization, to the ability to summon powerful legendary weapons, these 12 Chaotics have unknowingly become entangled in something larger than any of them have ever imagined. As if in response to these discoveries, the sinister machinations of galactic evil are churning. The metallic infection, a calamitous nanotechnology “disease” thought to have been vanquished 20 years ago, is slowly returning — and alongside it, a number of conflicts thought to be long past. While they only seek to better grasp their own abilities, Earth’s Chaotics will soon find themselves in the crossfire of returning threats and old heroes. These superpowered Earthians may not have chosen this path through life, but it will still be up to them to determine if history remembers them — to determine if history remembers the saga of the Keys. Return of Chaos is a direct sequel to Chosen Chaos, which begins the Key Saga novel series. Be sure to read Chosen Chaos first, to understand the plot and the characters thus far! Additionally, the Key Saga as a whole takes place 20 years after Rise. You will not need to read Rise to understand the events of Return of Chaos, however the latter will spoil many of the events that occurred in Rise, due to the simple chronology of taking place later in the timeline.

Meeting myself
Canceled (This was my first attempt at a story and while I really enjoyed it, I lost track of the thread of the story. The MC was too op, and except for some fun slice of life moments it just wasn't a very good plot. Anyway, I may come back and re-write this in the future because I really enjoyed the premise, but for now don't expect updates.)I've never met Karma; or at least I think I haven't. Hope, really, because I'm pretty sure she hates me. You see, the thing is, I've always hated flying. When you don't wind up getting molested (cavity searched), then your bags get lost, or you spend the entire flight sitting next to a crying baby. This flight was even worse than any of those things. You see, this flight killed me. I won't spoil it, but lets just say, Karma owes me a few explanations. NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, deserves to die like that. Of course, that wasn't the end of my adventure, far from it. But, you'll just have to read the story to learn about that.(This is a mature fiction, so far their hasn't been anything overtly bad (some minor sexual innuendo and drug use), but their will be plenty of blood, gore, sex, all that good stuff... eventually)
