《A Beautiful Woman of Science and Other Absurdities》Chapter 31 - Female Competition

At a fitness gym known for its extreme sports devotion, Hyperextension was the natural place to find Viviane Fox, the tall, pretty and newly discovered fashion model. She practiced kick-boxing moves as she worked to stay in top physical form. Her job of up-and-coming supermodel demanded dedication and hard work. Watching Viviane workout and work up a sweat, there could be no question in anyone’s mind how ambitious she was to be an elite model. She put in a lot of hours at the gym trying to stay in perfect shape.
Viviane sparred with a punching bag inside a private room of the gym. She wore a sports bra and a pair of tight, athletic leggings. Her springy, orange-sienna colored hair tied up in a ponytail at the back of her head. A pair of light-weight athletic shoes on her feet completed the practical look she needed to pummel the living daylights out of an imaginary foe. Viviane showed that she was adept at jab and cross punching, thumping the bag with powerful hits that caused sweat to fly from her brow. Even more powerful were her front and side kicks which used her shapely, muscular legs, the same sexy legs she used to walk in fashion shows as a runway model. Each kick landed heavy on the punching bag with a loud slap. The hefty punching bag swayed from the blows from those legs. With heavy breathing added to the physical violence coming from a gorgeous woman, the whole scene could have been misconstrued as something erotic. Maybe that was why Viviane booked a private room?
After a duration of intense pounding which would have broken the bones of a real assailant, Viviane took a break to catch her breath and wipe the sweat off her forehead. She stared out the window into the dark, night sky where she caught sight of the full moon. Maybe the intense exercise made her light-headed or maybe the sight of the moon put her at ease, but for whatever reason, she found herself drawn back to her earliest memories. All I can remember is the sound of waves on the shore and the moon looked the same as it does tonight. And I was cold that night twelve years ago.

As it happened so often whenever she reminisced about her past, Viviane tried to remember anything before that night twelve years ago, but could not. Unable to think backward anymore, she was left with the only option to think forward. Better get back to punching and kicking.
