《Grandpa Sweet Fist》9- Random Shopping

“Only if you prove yourself incompetent. Just get stronger, and the rest will take care of itself. Also, the stronger you are, the higher the rewards will be when you complete a task. It’s not as if you were living a life of comfort and safety before I arrived. Now, is there anything else?”
Victor thought about it for a moment and realized that Reunion was right. He had put his life on the line countless times in the chase of fame and fortune, why should he be so worried about dying now? As long as he gets some benefits out of this relationship, having a dimensional parasite lording over him wasn’t the worse thing in the world. Looking at the gift of Iron Bear Sambo, he had worked for worse bosses before.
“What was the text I saw when I met Jennifer and Zachary? What was that about?”
“Oh that. That’s the inherent skill all my host has. All systems has an inherent skill that they can give to their host. That’s mine. It’s to help you recognized your direct family and tells you some information about them. At higher levels, it can affect indirect family members like cousins, nephews, even people who has no blood relations like in-laws. Now if you are finally done, we can get to the special rewards?”
“Special rewards? Why didn’t you say so? I like the sound of that.”
“I couldn’t have guessed.” Victor and Reunion had a good laugh. They both knew hosts loved rewards. “Alright, let’s begin. For completing the first task and transcending to the Foundation Stage, host Victor Volkov has been awarded the right to access the reward shop and given ten reward points. Also, you were given three days to complete the task, but you only needed one. For swift completion of the task assigned, you are allowed an extra spin. Please pick any two of the shops.”
Reunion pointed at the five lights around Victor, and Victor now saw that each of the lights now had transparent words floating above them. Superpowers, Cultivation, Magic, Technology, and Random.

“What does all this mean?” Victor asked. “And what are reward points?”
“Reward points are the currency of this system. You can use them to select and buy items from any of the reward shops. Showing is better than telling. Summon one of the lights and touch it.”
As he was now a cultivator, Victor immediately thought of cultivation, and the light responded to his thought. It went towards Victor and floated in front of him. Victor did as order and touched it.
[Cultivation Reward List- Foundation Level].
A screen popped out and at the top, it stated the name of the reward shop. The list of rewards appeared below it and Victor saw countless items with strange names like Rune of Physique Strengthening, Pill of Basic Healing, Mask of the Oni, and several others. He immediately saw a problem.
“Uh, is there a problem with this shop? The cheapest item here cost a hundred points. You only gave me ten!”
“It was a simple task.” Reunion retorted. “How many points could you possibly get just to meet one of your descendants? You should be doing that even without having a task. Luckily for you, this was your first task so you get free rewards this time. Get ready for the spin.”
“Spin?”
Before Victor could get an answer out of the system, the list of rewards turned into a gigantic wheel, and it began to spin. Victor gave Reunion a look of disgust.
“Is this a joke?”
Reunion silently smiled back at him, and Victor knew he had no choice but to play along. He touched the spinning wheel, and it began to slow. Victor looked on nervously as it finally stopped at something called ‘Storage Ring’. Reunion whistled as the wheel disappeared and an opal ring appeared in front of Victor.
“Not bad. Your first reward and you got a Storage Ring. Put some qi into the ring.”

Victor did as he was told, and immediately felt a mental connection to the ring. The ring had a sub-space within that could serve as a storage facility and the area was about the size of a small storage unit. Victor could mentally put in and take out the items at any time. He just had to use his qi to access the ring. Victor had come across items like this ring before, though they were mostly magical in nature. This qi ring was better as it was safer. Victor didn’t know of anyone who could use qi.
“This is great.” Victor said. “Let’s do it again.”
“Not a problem. Pick one of the other shops.”
Victor looked around and realized that there were now only four lights around him. The cultivation shop was missing.
“What happened to the cultivation shop? I want another spin of that.”
“One spin per shop for each complete task. You need to pick another shop.”
Victor complained bitterly about this restriction, but Reunion refused to budge. It was a restriction of the system and in the end, Victor had no choice but to select another shop. He picked the random shop. Victor figured that if the prizes in that shop were random, there was a chance he could get another cultivation item. He did not.
The process was the same thing. The shop list turned into a wheel that was even bigger than the cultivation wheel, and it began spinning. Victor touched it, and when it stopped, Reunion was apologetic.
“Sorry, but you just get a hundred dollars in cash. You can exchange the money for reward points though.”
Victor thought that the reward wasn’t that bad. He was short on cash, and a hundred bucks could last him a few days. However, this exchange function was interesting.
“I can exchange cash for reward points? Is there anything else you would accept besides money?”
“You can exchange items for points as well. The more unique the item, the more points the will be worth. You want to exchange the money for points?”
“How many points can I get for a hundred dollars?”
“Currently, one point but there’s fluctuation so that might change in the future.”
“Fluctuation? Like a stock market?”
“A system market. We have an exchange where we trade items. Where do you think all these items come from? Now, do you want to exchange or not?”
“Not for one measly point.”
“Okay then.” Reunion shrugged. “Now usually I would be able to give you the next task immediately, but this summoning circle isn’t perfect so you will need to wait two days before I can give you the next task.”
“I need to come back here?”
“No. The system has already been activated, so I shall telepathically contact you in two days time to give you the next task. You will however need to come back here to access the shops and collect the rewards. Again, this is because of the summoning circle. Now if that’s all, goodbye!”
Without another word, a bright light engulfed Victor, and when he opened his eyes again, he found that he was back in the basement. In his hands was the storage ring, and a hundred dollars in cash. However, it was the two books on the floor that caught his eye. There was a copy of Iron Bear Sambo and Ways to the Foundation Stage. These two books were worth more than gold! Victor quickly put them into his storage ring, and after a last look to make sure he hadn’t missed anything, he left the building.

Storm of the Elementals
The apocalypse was something that people were expecting to happen sooner or later, rising sea levels and everything. What our protagonist didn't expect was it to be from a system, let alone the fact that he missed it. Waking up as an elemental and being given frighteningly little info from a system that seemed a little off , stuck with 3 other eccentric individuals that he could almost swear are a bit dodgy, and not being quite sure he was human anymore, it was the start of a long day. It only got longer when he found out he was moved to a whole different world. ~ This is a slow burn story, focusing on the world and what happens if an eccentric historian gets transported in a world with systems and power that are not quite meant for him. ~ Some things you can expect: -No harem, god no. -Yes the protagonist is strong, no he isn't completely OP. -Other people who have been changed, he isn't the only special or chosen one who got transported or messed with. -It is sad to actually have to put this here, but the main character does shockingly have common sense.

Two Existentialists | S.R.
"How many existentialists does it take to screw a lightbulb?" Spencer asked with a small laugh. Once again the room was silent. You faintly heard Agent Rossi mutter, "Don't.""2. One to change the light bulb and one to observe how it symbolizes an incandescent beacon of subjectivity in a netherworld of cosmic nothingness," he said. The room was silent still, until you laughed. His eyes looked up at yours in confusion. "Wouldn't they sit in the dark and hope that the bulb decided to light again? An existentialist would never change the bulb. He would allow the darkness to exist," you questioned.-#1 #spencerreid#1 #mgg#1 emilyprentiss
