《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Beginnings - Part Seventy-Six

I guess Tim realized what I was thinking because that night I was in the world of stars. This time though there was a door on the other side of Tim. she seemed more lively today and smug for some reason. Since I had nothing better to do I sat down in front of her.

“So, what do you want? You wouldn’t bring me here unless you wanted to tell me something or you were bored.”

“What about when I brought you here while you were being tortured?”

“I would like to think you were showing a little mercy to me.”

“That’s entirely up to your train of thought. Anyways, why I brought you here is because I know what you are thinking and I’m gonna tell you that it is 100% possible.”

“Really?”

“Of course, but you don’t have much time so I’ll tell you how to pick a destination and time.”

“It would have been so much easier if you had told me how to do this in the first place. Perhaps, when I first arrived in this year.”

“But where’s the fun in that? If I did that you wouldn’t have met the other main characters.”

“Is this really just a story to you?”

“Yep, but you should know that the world is full of heroes and villains. People who live their lives as mundane as possible are just extras that have no real meaning. They may affect something in a minor way but they’ll never be anything more than that. It’s those that actually do things outside of the social norms that are important to the continual story of the earth.”

“That makes sense but sounds like you’re just being an ass.”

“The truth is the truth. People who can’t accept it just hate that the truth hurts them.”

“I guess.”

“Now about your ability. You can easily travel to any period so long as you have the time and place pictured clearly in your head. If you don’t have that clear picture of where you want to go then you’ll go to the correct time but will be somewhere completely random. If you don’t know what time you want to go to, then you’ll just teleport to wherever you were picturing.”

“It’s that simple?”

“Of course not.”

“Huh?”

“You will be able to do this but it will break you.”

“Then why give me this power in the first place?”

“It will not break you because of the ability itself. It will break you because you aren’t whole.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Did you really think you were just okay after getting tortured like that for three weeks straight? When you were being tortured you split off different parts of yourself like copies, but now all that you are now is a false persona. Your friends have already realized that you might be putting on an act, that you may actually be in a lot of pain. You yourself haven’t noticed it yet because your that far gone.”

“Are you saying that i’m a fake? That who I am now is not the real me?”

“That’s exactly what i’m saying. You are split up into different parts. At this point the only thing that is keeping you sane is the fact that this persona has only a desire for revenge to keep it going. If you achieved that goal then you would have nothing else to live for. However if you had the other parts of yourself then you could go on.”

“Then how do I get them back?”

“Go through the door behind me and you’ll see. Don’t tell me you didn’t notice it when you came here.” Tim said gesturing at the door behind her. Not knowing what else to do I walked over to it and turned the knob. It opened up to reveal a small dark room. I walked in and much to my surprise the door shut behind me. I should have been expecting that though.

A light started to glow from the ceiling of the room and that’s when I realized this was a cell. On the other side of the cell door I could see Tim talking to another vesion of myself. The cell itself was bare. It had no bed nor chairs and the walls were a darker gray.

Then Tim and the other version of myself disappeared and Tim reappeared right in front of me.”let me out Tim. this isn’t funny.”

e

“I don’t have the key. He does.” Tim said pointing at a small man I hadn’t noticed in the cell before. He wore a mask similar to the masked mans but he was balled up in the corner, hugging his knees. Tears were flowing from the eye holes in the mask and dripping to the floor every few seconds. To add to that he was mumbling something rapidly.

“Don’t fuck with me Tim!” I yelled as I grabbed Tim’s dress collar and pulled her towards the cell door. “You need to let me out now!” Tim didn’t like this very much as the next thing I knew I was flying back against the cell wall. The masked person in the corner didn’t even take notice.

“You can get out when you get the keys from him. Until then one of your other parts will take over for a bit. He’s cold and rational so he’ll make a perfect double when you’re awake..”

“You bastard.” I said to Tim. Then I looked over at the broken down man beside me. What was I going to do?
