Several months passed and Scott had improved significantly. He became rather skilled at hand to hand combat but was lacking in weapon skills. It was like he lost all combat ability when handed a weapon. However Silva found a way around that.

“You want me to use a weapon like yours?” Scott asked. He knew he wasn’t very good with weapons so he questioned her logic.

“Yes, my gloves.”

“I didn’t know gloves counted as a weapon?”

“Well these gloves are lined with silver so they burn supernatural beings. They work as an excellent deterrent. However, if one were to strike one of these beings with a hard enough blow in the right spot it could kill them. Really all you would be doing is killing them with martial arts but the silver lining in the gloves would cause whatever you kill to turn to dust afterwards so you don’t have to clean up.”

“Okay.”

“Anyways these are mine. They’re a little big for you but you’ll eventually outgrow them and they will have to be tailor fitted for you.” She said, taking the gloves off her hands and handing them to him before sitting on the couch.

“Thank you.” he replied before taking them and putting them on.

“You’re welcome, I also have something else I wanted to tell you.”

“Don’t tell me they cut your budget again? You already gambled away our spending cash for the month down at the south river.”

“No, they did not and don’t act like my gambling is an issue. I just wasn’t lucky this month.”

“You haven’t been lucky any of the times you went gambling. Also, I’m pretty sure you have an addiction to pissing away any extra money you have.”

“I do not! Anyways, back to the original subject.”

“Don’t try and change the subject! All we have left to eat for the next week is rice and canned meats.”

“We’ll survive! Anyways, I was forced to get an apprentice.”

“Wait, I’m already your apprentice aren’t I?”

“Technically, yes. My father and some people at the Agency though haven’t exactly approved of you becoming my apprentice.”

“You didn’t tell them that you took me on as your apprentice did you?”

“...”

“I’ll take that as a yes.”

“He’ll be here tomorrow and you’ll be sharing a room with him until I can get this sorted out.”

“I have no say in this do I?”

“None at all.”

“Okay, then what exactly are you going to do? You’ll have to tell them that I’ve been your apprentice for months and just neglected to tell them but what’s next?”

“I would have to talk to the Agency about that and I really don’t want to.”

“Why not?”

“Because I hate all the paperwork and the politics. They’re so boring.”

“So I have to deal with this because you want to be lazy. You have me do all the cleaning, cooking, and even have me do your paperwork. I’m starting to wonder if you only wanted an apprentice so you didn’t have to do work. On top of all that you’ll get drunk and start acting like one of those succubi.” he spouted in a flare of rage.

“I am not lazy. I walk around the city looking for work with you every day and I do not act like a succubi!”

“Basic exercise and doing the minimum requirements for your job does not constitute an active lifestyle.”

“Don’t get smart with me. You’re only twelve so what would you know?”

“I know that you are going to have to deal with the consequences of your actions or should I say lack of action the moment that new apprentice arrives.”

“You got me there, but I don’t want to.” she said, before stretching herself on the couch herself on the couch.

“What did I just say about you being lazy?”
