“Mordred, I hate to inform you of this but Medea Avian has returned. She is currently in London and is attempting to recreate the ritual she had used the last time we fought her.” Scott said in a rather monotone style.

Mordred sat at her desk without much surprise showing on her face. She didn’t answer nor showed any signs that she was going to yet. In fact she reached into her desk drawer and began looking through the files within before she finally found the one she had been looking for. On the top corner of the folder was the name Medea Avian and a red stamp that said dangerous priority.

“Mordred I believe that some backup-” Scott started to say.

“Shut up! I’m thinking.” She snapped before she opened the file and began perusing its contents. Inside the file it read:

“Medea Avian, Born of a witches family during the reign of King Arturia pendragon. Her family was destroyed while under the protection of the knights of the round and thus she was taken into the castle as a maid servant. She was later promoted to personal servant of Sir Michael by the King.

However upon Sir Michael’s assassination of the King she disappeared. It was assumed that she had fled with Sir Michael until many years later. She was found among a small coven which had practiced blood magic and was sentenced to death along with the rest of the coven for the crime of necromancy and aiding the traitor Sir Michael.

She escaped from her holding cell under the cover of darkness and wasn’t seen again until 1882 by Silva Langston. Elysif Avian, her daughter, testified against her for the use of blood magic after being coerced by Mrs. Langston. A raid was conducted by several agents including Silva Langston in which many died. All of the witches within the coven died in the battle along with all but three of our agents.

Medea Avian on the other hand escaped during the battle and hadn’t been seen since. A select few elite agents were sent to track her down but to no avail. She had disappeared completely and only two agents came close to finding her but were found dead.”

Mordred set the file down on her desk before sighing. She stared off into space for a moment before looking back at Scott. He was standing there patiently waiting for a reply. However, his patience wasn’t good enough to stop him from taking a swig from his flask.

“Could you not?” Mordred said as he started tipping it up more.

“No, no I cannot.” Scott replied between swigs.

“You are the most annoying agent that we have, you know that!”

“Of course I know that. I’m actually surprised that you have been able to put up with me this long.”

“Anyways, shouldn’t you be making sure she doesn’t kill anyone?”

“I would but as you can see my arm along the rest of my body is seriously damaged. Lou is currently watching over London with the help of Mama Louise while I’m away. Now how quickly can I get some reinforcements?” Scott said in his most demanding tone.

“I’ll can lend you ten agents and since Compton knows the area he can go with you.”

“I wasn’t even going to ask about Compton. I was going to take him with me no matter what.”

“Well, that just proves you’ll never be able to act as a director.”

“Anything else I need to know or do before I leave?”

“Oh, yes, I’m going to be coming with you since you are basically useless right now. Plus, I have a score to settle with that bitch.”

“Okay then. I guess I’ll be waiting in the main room for you, Compton, and those other Agents.” Scott said before turning around and heading out the door to the office.

Mordred looked back at the file with a sneer before walking out of the office herself. She headed off towards the main room and turned to the left and down one of the long hallways. On the right side of the hallway was an open door which led to a large room filled with books. Merlin was sitting on the floor reading one of them while scratching his head.

He looked up to see Mordred standing in the doorway. To his surprise she seemed a little downtrodden so he set the book down and stood up to greet her.

“What can I do for you, my lady?” Merlin asked.

“Drop the formalities merlin. There’s no one in here to criticize us.”

“Of course.”

“I am leaving for London within the hour. Medea Avian has reappeared and I would rather blame myself if she escapes than blame my men.”

“Are you sure it’s Medea?” he asked as he approached her.

“Scott Langston just came to tell me. You’re in charge until I return.”

“I see, be careful and return with good news.” Merlin said softly before kissing her.

Mordred returned the kiss before stepping back and heading back to the main hall. Merlin watched her continue down the hallway before showing a terrifying smile to himself and closing the door. Inside the room he went back to his book which had a magic circle sketched on the inside. It was the exact same one that had been placed all over London.

“I wonder if she can finish it in time? I would hope she is resourceful enough to make use of the final piece of the puzzle. Then I’ll know if it really works.” he said to himself before letting out a soft chuckle.
