《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Witch Trials - Part 022

Collin forced some of his magic into the magic prison and aimed it at as many agents as he could. Then clicking the button it glowed light blue and twisted open, taking three of the agents with it. Compton, seeing this, did the same. He captured two of the other agents inside the magic prison. The last infected agent though, charged at Ida. Despite the barrier she had around herself, the force of the agent striking it sent her falling back.

Medea used this chance to form a blade-like shape out of blood and bring it down on Iscarat’s right arm. He screamed in pain as he held his right arm. It had cut down to the bone in his forearm. It could be fixed with stitches but it probably still hurts. Wait, I know it hurts. The barrier behind him fell as if it was never there and Medea attempted to run away from us.

However, the second Barrier was already set up. It was made using magic circles. It was explained that people could pour magic into a magic circle that would then connect to another. They bounced off each other like cell towers would and created an invisible wall that nothing denser than air could pass through. The more magic circles you have then the stronger the barrier but the more people who are needed to activate it. Dolfly set it up with forty of his students while we dealt with Medea.

“I see that you set up another barrier. This one isn’t as simple as the one that sorcerer set up.” Medea said with a chuckle.

“That sorcerer happens to know very little about barriers! I am more capable when it comes to dimensional planes.” Iscarat yelled angrily as he clenched his gash. Despite how he looked, the voice didn’t make him seem threatening at all.

“That’s an interesting magic. I bet you want to give me a demonstration.” she laughed.

“You read my mind.” he said as several hundred runes glowed a mix of various colors on the street and buildings.

“Impressive.” Medea said, honestly impressed but the display.

“While you thought I was concentrating on the barrier you failed to realize that I was placing all of these.” he said with a snap of his fingers. “Open, Hell’s gate!” as he did the runes spun where they were displayed. Circular and square portals opened up over each one and from them rivers of flame spued out. The flames surrounded Medea but she didn’t seem bothered in the slightest.

The flames wrapped around her like a snake coiling around its prey. The heat was enough to make us step back out of fear of getting burnt alive. Then we heard cracking. The second barrier was failing. Was Iscarat’s magic affecting the flow of magic? I don’t think so as I assumed Iscarat wouldn’t use magic that could compromise the mission.

“What’s going on?” Collin asked

“Someone has affected the barrier. We need to find whoever it is and stop them. Let Iscarat deal with Medea'' Compton stated before we all charged off in different directions.

I ran to the opposite side of the building we found Medea in. beyond it was Rebeccah who was writing something over one of the magic circles. Beside her layed one of the Witches that I assumed Dolfly brought along. She looked unconscious and in pain but thankfully she was alive.

“Rebeccah, please don’t mess with that.” I said calmly as I approached her. She turned around to face me revealing that the X on her forehead was gone.

“I’m going to stop you from hurting Mama!” She said as a thin thread like trail of blood came out of the unconscious witch. It began scribbling on the magic circle in Rebeccah’s stead.

“Your Mama is going to hurt a lot of people. I need to stop her. I’m sorry but I have to, even if it means hurting a child.” I said as I drew my gun. There were no more bullets left in the cylinder so in a single motion I cracked the top of my pistol, ejecting the empty shells and slamming a single bullet into a chamber before snapping it closed. I then pointed it at her and pulled the hammer back.

Rebeccah began to smile in such a twisted way that it gave me goosebumps. I had a gun pointed at her and she begins to smile? That’s pretty fucked up for a child. It didn’t matter though. I had to stop her, no matter how much I hated the idea of hurting a kid.

I steadied myself as several tentacle-like streams of blood shot at me. Dodging each one as they passed. Each one crushed or cut through whatever it touched. The force of each one was like a whip coated in lead and razorblades. Cutting through even the stone on the buildings around us. I was surprised none of the others were coming over here with all the noise she was making. Then one of them hit me. My right leg was cut clean off. Blood and shattered pieces of my bone fell between the cracks in the cobblestone street.

“You don’t look so good. Maybe you should take a-” Rebeccah started to say before she noticed my leg grow back before her eyes. I was lacking shoes or socks for that matter but it didn’t make much difference. She looked like she was about to throw a tantrum.

“Maybe I should take a what? A nap? Sorry but I don’t sleep on the job like some other people I know.” I said as I raised my pistol and pulled the trigger. The sound of the bullet being shot rang out through the street. Alerting everyone to where I was.
