《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Witch Trials - Part 030

Elysif awoke, bound in a cushioned chair in the corner of a well lit room. Through a doorway she saw her mother cooking and Rebeccah sitting at a table, waiting for her plate. Though it confused her as her mother was also sitting across from her. Staring with a face of contempt and just a hint of warmth.
The room was a cracked yellow and there were no windows but there were plenty of candles. Other than the chair that Elysif was in and the one that Medea was occupying there was a small couch. An empty fireplace was to her left and a small table with a teacup on it sat to the right o9f Medea.
“Trying to figure out why there are two of me?”
“...” Elysif said nothing but her mother could tell what she was thinking.
“That one is made of blood. A simple clone I can control at will. It has all of my memories but can’t share its own memories with me. It works wonders as a maid and as a bodyguard.”
“So you used it to get Rebeccah back and take down the agents that came to attack you?”
“Exactly. Your friends weren’t much of a challenge according to my clone. She even managed to infect that pompous ass, Mordred. I assumed Modred was used to kill your friends with ease.” Medea replied.
Elysif snapped and blood burst out from a vein in her arm. The stream of blood hardened like steel and shot itself at Medea. But the moment it got close to Medea the steel-like blood turned to a mist and morphed around Medea.
“You shouldn’t be able to control my blood! What did you do?” Elysif yelled in shock. Even Rebeccah who was now eating in the other room, looked at Elysif.

“You made an impressive seal on Rebeccah. It took a few minutes for my clone to undo it so be proud. I simply gave you a seal of your own. It doesn’t seal your magic like the one you gave to Rebeccah but instead makes you unable to harm me, my clone, or Rebeccah with your magic.” Medea explained.
“So what’s going to stop me from leaving? Don’t think for a second that I’ll help you in any way.”
“I figured you would say something like that. I will not make you kill anyone like I did last time. A very generous donor gave me the final piece I needed to fully understand the resurrection spell. As such I do not need you to amass power through the blood of fallen people like before. Instead, I simply need you and Rebeccah to help me keep the spell stable while it is performed.” Medea stated calmly as she picked up the teacup and began to take a sip of it.
“Are my friends alive?”
“The ones known as Scott, Lou, Compton, Ida, Collin, John, Iscarat, and Aaron are all alive according to my clone. I am not certain about Mordred.”
“Promise me that you will not hurt them in any way and I will consider helping you.”
“You have my word. However, if they attack me again then I may have no choice but to harm them.”
“You know they will come for me. Not just for me but to catch you too. Also, why not use your clone to complete the ritual instead of me?”
“I would but my clone is controlled by me. Thus, it would be considered the same as me. I need three people as I lack the magic power necessary to use it alone. Now, you have until Rebeccah finishes making the barrier to decide whether you will help me or not.”

“And if I don’t?”
“Then I will kill everyone you care about in front of you, slowly and painfully until you do. Better make your decision fast.” she said before getting up and walking into the dining room area with her clone and Rebeccah. Elysif sat in the room alone and bound to the chair.
Elysif waited until she knew no one was watching and from the blood that had already left her body she formed a small blade and began to cut the thick rope that bound her. The only way she had a chance was to escape and have this seal removed. She knew this so she wanted to do it as quickly as possible.
Once the bindings were cut she slowly crept over to the door. The creaking of the floorboards didn't help her at all as she did. Thankfully no one heard it. Slowly opening the door she looked out and saw not even her mother's clone in the kitchen or dining room. She opened the door the rest of the way and snuck through the doorway before collapsing to the floor and screaming in agony.
"I suspected you would try and escape. As such I made the seal so that you couldn't leave the room without my permission. The consequences being pain that no person can fathom." Medea said, walking up to her and kicking her back into the room. The moment Elysif was back in the room the pain stopped.
"Just kill me!" Elysif screamed.
"Not yet. However, if you attempt to escape before the ritual is completed then I will kill one of your so called friends. I think I'll start with the drunk." Medea said with an angry scowl before walking off with a subtle chuckle.

What Was Lost Outside Time
What happens to a mind, subjected to an infinite span of time? What remains, when it is taken out again? This is the story of an individual reborn after such time has passed that nothing remains of what it was; an individual who must learn once again what it is to be, beginning with awareness of the idea of awareness, and growing from there; from awareness of self, to awareness of others, to awareness of society, and on. This is the story of a mind; growing, learning, adapting, and becoming more. -- Currently the first three chapters are - well, kind of experimental. I both like and hate these; they were a pain to write, and I'm told by at least one person that they're painful to get through, but I think something like them is necessary to set one of the basic ideas about the way the story is written. It gets slightly more normal after that, the first arc of the story is rather "battle school", and I think I may need to go back and edit it - the characterization didn't end up working out as well as I had originally hoped, unfortunately, and ended up rather weak to my eye. I may go back and add a sub-plot or two, depending on how well I can handle the intended perspective shift of the second arc. -- Currently on hiatus, in case that wasn't obvious. I'm debating between rewriting large portions of what I've already written, and just finishing out the story, but either way, I don't actually have a clear idea of what I want to do right now. If I'm still feeling the same way in a few months I'll put a chapter up explaining where the story was going, maybe, so the people who have enjoyed it can know where the story was intended to go, and close this out.

The Goddess’ Chosen
Destiny is a strange force indeed. One simple act can create a ripple, one simple change can cause a cataclysm. One act outside of the individual would be enough to alter one's life no matter how insignificant that life may be. This is the adventures of Allisa Reed, a young girl from our world who found the legendary sword Excalibur and taken to the magical world of Avalon. On the other side of the portal with her friends by her side, Allisa is forced into a conflict she is not prepared for, ordained as the Goddess Chosen to bring about one of two possible outcomes; Salvation or destruction. ------------------------------------ Author's notes: This is more or less the first draft of this story. Currently working on a second draft. Spelling and grammar is definitely my biggest weakness, particularly in my earlier stuff. I've done some editing and hopefully have ironed out most of these mistakes in my older chapters though I'm fairly certain there are some mistakes still left. This story is ongoing. Updates are slow as I publish when a chapter is ready. Expect long chapters for most of it. Just sort of my style. Only available on Royal road.com
